So do you like solitaire games? Then go get Regency Solitaire or Faerie Solitaire. Those are much better games than this one is. The main reason why I'm giving this a not recommended is the fact that there is a pretty hideous bug that when you quit the game it records the hand you were on as a failure and moves to the next one, even if you didn't start that hand. That's pretty bad for a game that is meant to be more on the casual side and played off and on to relax, not to be played in one sitting. Though thankfully the game's achievements are easy enough that unless you quit during like every hand, you'll be able to get them all even with this bug. The other issue I had with the game is that even on the easier of the two modes, it was very luck based and not skill based for a large number of hands. After about two of the chapters all of a sudden you get layouts with a lot of blocked cards and very little ability to get a combo. To be quite honest if you don't get the achievement for a 20 combo before restoring the fire amulet in the human realm, you aren't very likely to get it because getting any decent combo without saving up a ton of wildcards is not happening with those layouts. You'll get very sick of Seth's laughter for leaving more than 5 cards quite quickly because you'll be hearing it a lot. Of note, I played on casual, though I am a perfectionist. Between this and the bug I had to deal with not being able to perfect every level. Another issue that is present is that at times the music just stops for no good reason. Put simply, this game is a promise of a solid game that really needs some work and I'll gladly edit this review if some of these issues get fixed, though truly these sorts of issues should have been worked out before release, not after. The artwork is very lovely and the music when it actually plays right is relaxing. The game can be fun when I'm not getting frustrated at retrying a level a bunch of times just to get less than 4 cards remaining. Edit to add: The dev has responded that the bug causing fails in hands cannot be fixed. As it stands now, I can't recommend the game outside of a much better sale or in a bundle because it's more frustating than relaxing and fun and a game should get harder as you progress, not easier It also mostly gets easier because you get amulets and power ups to be able to deal with the frustrating factors of luck playing such a role.

Nice solitaire game similar to Faerie Solitaire. If you're played Faerie Solitaire or Three Towers (as it's sometimes called) then you are familiar with the idea of this game. You have to clear all the cards in the layout by clicking on a card that is numbered one higher or one lower than the card in the deck. For instance, if your deck card is a 5 you can click on either a 4 or a 6. It's easy to get combos by going up and down the numbers, like 4-3-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-8-7-6, etc. depending on the layout and luck. As the story goes on you gain 4 helpful allies with special abilites. There are also amulets you can purchase in the store with the gold you gain in the levels. The story is kind of silly, but it's just a card game so who cares. Bad guy in black robe and holding a snake staff wants to conquer the world. You and your allies have to stop him. You travel the land of men, elves, dwarves, and mermaids (though you only get to see a merMAN, no maids unfortunately). In each place you have to restore the temple that has been desecrated by the bad guy, and restore the elemental crystal. In addition to the card playing levels there are also occasional hidden object levels. That makes for a nice break from just cards, cards, cards all the time. The gameplay is solid. It's fairly easy to get good combos even without using bonuses. Though, I was playing on casual difficulty, so i don't know if the gameplay is harder on the harder difficulty or if they just give you more things to accomplish to win. Graphics are nice, with soft colors fitting a fantasy world. Music is nice background music. It's sort of like classical music, just nice background music that does not intrude on your thinking. There is also voice acting in this game. Each character has a voice. They also print the dialogue in boxes. Length of playtime for me was 12 hours. However, I tend to keep replaying levels if I don't get a perfect or near perfect. So it could be less for someone who wants to just rush through the game. tl;dr version: Similar to Faerie Solitaire (Three Tower, etc) Hidden Object Levels Easy to get combos 2 difficulty selections Full voiced audio 10+ hours of gameplay for first time through It's Cheap!!!
I absolutly love Solitare games ..... but not this one .... where shall i start, they have tried to make the game more interesting by adding a "hidden object" minigame between levels however this hidden object game isn't quite fair as objects are hidden behind other things which you have to click to move first before you click on the item. The ingame buffs you buy to help you out during your game play are nearly useless the first one you start with doesn't give you a card you need 9/10 times unless you buy another upgrade which will give you a card more useful, i can have a near perfect round with 30+ combo and have 5 cards left on my hand and none of those cards match any on the playfield. My average round lasts 3 minutes however there's an achievement to do it in under 1 minute which seems nearly impossible due to animations and the fact your dealt cards seem to be useless, i have gone through 10 cards before i get my first match to a card on the table. One of my other big dislikes of this game is if you quit or your game closes during game play, you fail the sub level, if you wait until you complete the main level then quit sometimes it will auto fail the last level you completed even though you passed, you can replay a whole level however after youve wasted 1-2 hours it will tell you that you have to start the game all over to perfect the level...... I find myself more stressed out and furstrated with a game that is supposed to be relaxing and casual.
This isn't the greatest solitaire game ever made. Still, having played two terrible ones back to back, I must say this lowered my expectations in other games, so... Well, this one's lucky, I guess! The music is great but so repetitive it'll end up driving you mad. A bit. There's nothing original in here, but no major flaw either; it's an honest clone of the genre, and it does what it does: entertain when you need a quick round of cards (then another round... Okay, just one more. Oh crap it's 2am.)
Introduction
The chronicles of Emerland. Solitaire. is exactly what the title suggests, a solitaire game. The most basic of games and one of the few that has come already installed on PCs for years is now given an updated look with updated features. There are many games like this on the market, taking a simple card game and adding bells and whistles to keep the interest of the player and attract new ones. However, in my opinion this game got it right and created something that’s more than just a game of solitaire.
Story
One aspect that The Chronicles of Emerland. Solitaire. has going for it is that it has a story. Your character is an apprentice under an old gray bearded wizard and things are going fine until an evil sorcerer attacks and makes threats against the world. It’s up to you to travel to the four kingdoms to save the elemental stones and gain the power you will need to defeat the forces of darkness. The kingdoms are basic, you have Humans, Elves, Dwarves and Mermaids, but you also get a companion from each kingdom creating a sort of party like in a role playing game. Together you and your team travel the land and try to save the world. It’s a pretty simple fantasy story but enough to keep a player entertained.
Gameplay
If you’ve played regular solitaire then you should have all you need to get into this game. The board has cards laid out randomly and you have a draw pile, your goal is to stack cards in order from your drawn card to create combos and score points. If you’ve played modern day solitaire games then you can expect to see some added features to spice things up. Roadblocks, a common one, come in the form of ice, vines, bricks, etc. Each one requires you to unlock the roadblock by finding an item like a sword hidden under another pile of cards. This adds more of a challenge, especially in later levels, as you have to plan your moves precisely to continue on and sometimes may not get the draws you need to even get past the roadblocks. Each level has ten stages to it and in between each level are small hidden object scenes, which I enjoyed. I mentioned earlier that the game gives you four companions, each character helps in a different way, the archer for example can shoot down one card off the field which is useful if you have a lingering card and want to get a perfect rating. You can also power up your companions by buying certain amulets! There is one amulet for each party member and then other amulets to add bonuses to the game such as getting more gold or experience or even seeing every possible move on the board. The last aspect is leveling up, when you do this new perks are added that can pop up randomly on cards that are on the board and each perk has two levels to it so instead of being able to get two extra cards you can then get three.
Graphics / Audio
To top off this fun game are some great visuals. The cards are all beautiful though I would have liked an option to change the design of the deck. The scenery is wonderful and fits the mystical theme of the game. Bright colors along with lovely character designs help round out the visual aspects of the game. The music is also great, if you play the game long enough you’ll notice that the tracks tend to repeat quite often, I think there are maybe three or four unique ones. I didn’t mind this but the music was so lovely and soothing I wouldn’t have minded more. The game is also fully voice acted so every time a character speaks you will also hear them. The acting is not the best but it’s passable.
Pros
+ The game is cheap. + Offers a good amount of gameplay for the price. + Overall presentation looks good. + I love fantasy so this was a personal plus for me. + The game has two different difficulties. + It has trading cards and achievements.
Cons
- Levels can get repetitive, so it’s best if played in short bursts. - There is a bug in the game, if you’re playing a level and want to exit the game, the game counts that stage as a failure for some reason. This has been addressed on the Steam forums but the developer sadly cannot fix the issue.
Final Thoughts
I personally loved this game and would find it perfect except for the bug. I’ve played quite a few solitaire games but this one is definitely a favorite for me. I loved the fantasy theme and I enjoyed having party members with different helpful skills. The game can be a little challenging even for solitaire veterans but the game gives you plenty of perks and ways to power up to help level the playing field. Plus, all of the achievements are relatively easy to gain if you simply just play through the game. If you want to play alone with yourself I recommend this title, as a great card game of course.
Mixed feelings about this game that LOOKS casual but is anything but. Pro: - Good looks - Plays nicely. No complaints on the UI. Con: - This game is NOT a casual game even though it looks like it. Difficulty is surprisingly high and you must employ all the tricks you know on how to extend those combos. It is not unusual to decide the end result on the very last card using everything you got. Wild cards are really important in this game. - Replaying hands because thats what it will eventually go to. RInse and repeat. Now i like Legends of Solitaire and Faerie Solitaire in which i could beat all challenges relatively easily but this game is much harder. The Casual element is gone - this is some serious work if you want to get ahead in this game once you start getting closer to half-way on the map and i am not sure i like this design - conversely f you turn it around some people will think this is the best game precisely because it challenges you. So pick which one you like, casual entertainment or a more serious solitaire challenge and buy accordingly.
You're the only hope of the world even if you're just an apprentice of a mightful magician. During your journey, you'll improve your skills and meet new allies! If anything, this scenario is quite common in a fantasy game. So, I will not expand myself on it. As it's a solitaire game, you're dealing with cards. The gameplay follows the suits rule: to get a card out of the board, you need to have a card of the value just above or just under in the pack. However, be aware that the game doesn't always let you win: I've stumbled upon levels where my board was full because the needed card to start appeared in the last ones of the pack. When you understand that gameplay, you can look at the bonus. Each upgrade of your magic level will improve a skill: temporary money on a card, return 2/3 cards on the board, add cards to the pack, etc.. However, you can also buy (hence the money) amulets that will raise your experience, add cards to the pack at the beginning, show every possibility, etc.. Even amulets for characters will be available to enhance their skills. Four allies will join you: the human can change the displayed card on your pack (with the upgrade of having a card that will always match one on the board), the elf can shoot a card down (two when improved), the dwarf will return cards on the board (3 if improved) and the mermaid will help to remove cards that are displayed. Obstacles will also be present in levels : from flooded cards where you need to find the scoop to remove the water to the stoned ones needing a hammer to break the rock, you'll even be forced to sacrifice cards for those on fire. After 10 levels, you'll go to another one, however, between these stages, you'll have a sort of hidden object scene: you will have to find 10 items (beyond objects, you know, those who are changing appearances, animals, parts of a bigger object, etc...). In other words, The Chronicles of Emerland (the free-to-play game with the name Emerland is also set in the same universe, with the same gameplay by the way) is a classic solitaire game with some nice bonus. If the graphics are quite reminiscent of a heroic fantasy game, I largerly liked the soundtrack, very fitting and very nice. Anyway, for 4 bucks, your wallet isn't robbed. If you like solitaire games, go for it, I've spent many hours in it because I wanted to have a lot of perfects - so if you're anything like me, you'll spend also hours to run after the evil wizard while asking yourself why they didn't make the dwarf more interesting than returning card....
Another addicting Solitaire game. You do not have the ability to replay one certain level to get a better score once the set is done. The only way to do this is to replay the level itself over and over until you get it perfect, or replay the whole set from the start of you have multiple non-perfects. The hidden object portion of the game is really easy and if you get stuck you have the hint button that will fully recharge over a little time. If you exit the game midpoint through a set, it will fail that level once you restart the game. So, if you do not want this to happen, make sure you are fully commited to playing all 10 rounds in the set before you exit the game. Achievements are easy to get.
