This game is perfect, you should definitely buy it. There are lots of game modes and fun puzzles. Sometimes AI is really hard, it's a good thing. But I don't like the look of chess pieces. for example bishop and pawn look very alike.But this is not a negative feature for now, I hope different chess pieces will come to the game. Nice job

It's Chess. I have no witty title nor jokes. it's chess. The Chess Variants Club tells you all you need to know about it in its title. It has every variant of Chess you can think of, most of which I had no idea even existed. This game is also a good reminder of just how bad I suck at chess; even on the easiest difficulty I generally get my ass handed to me from three different directions. The game does give you the opportunity to practice thinking ahead with its challenges - a separate mode in which the pieces are already set up so that if you do it right, you will win within the allotted limit of moves. I found that helpful, and a lot less frustrating than playing through a game only to lose because I a made a bad move ten moves prior that I totally forgot about and thus couldn't learn from. The game assumes you already know the rules of chess, so if you've never played before, look 'em up. If you do know how to play, look up some strategies and practice them here before taking on your friends. I did that and I definitely noticed an improvement in my skills.

Game is not finished, and probably never will be. The design of the pieces is unlear and can't be changed.

Phenomenal compilation of variants - some of which I'd never even heard about before. Familiar variations like normal chess, Chess 960 (Fischer random), Knight Supreme are all here. There are a few smaller curiosities that you'll play a few times before recognizing there are only so many strategies. And then there are really complex, out-there variants like Circe where pieces get reborn, or asymmetrical set-ups like Aleut. The AI seems programmed to compete well in all the different variants. I'm not really good enough to challenge the expert level, so it offers a lot to intermediate players. Some of the variants really stress certain parts of my game because of the different starting positions or lack of certain pieces, so it's good for my normal game, too. There's only a 3D mode right now. It will take you a minute to get used to the look of the pieces. I'd love to see a 2D option at some point. The presentation is nice, there's a historical bit about each variant, rules are outlined next to each choice in a concise but understandable way. There's a relaxing and unobtrusive jazz soundtrack in the background. Everything is put together simply, but seamlessly. The feel of the game as a whole is cohesive and chill. I'm really impressed by this and it's immediately become my favorite chess game outside of the Chess website. (This also has puzzles, but I haven't really tried them yet.) If there's one thing missing (aside from a 2D option) that you might find in other chess games or sites, it's having AIs with different tendencies and playstyles. I understand why, as programming different AI players for each and every variation creates an exponential amount of work. It's only worth mentioning in comparison to other chess options, but obviously those other options don't have the sheer breadth that this does. Awesome game. It's deeply rewarding to see the history of off-shoots all in one place, and easily playable.

체스도 좋아하고 퍼즐 게임도 좋아해서 기대를 갖고 시작했는데, 많이 실망입니다. 가장 큰 이유는 체스를 소재로 했음에도 정해진 정답을 찾아 노가다하는 느낌을 주게끔 디자인되어 있다는 것입니다. 예를 들어 퍼즐세트 중에 2수만에 게임을 승리해야 하는게 있는데, 제가 첫 수를 두면 컴퓨터의 AI가 그에 맞게 대응을 하는 것이 아니라, 이미 짜여진 정답에 해당되지 않으면 컴퓨터는 아예 반응을 하지 않고, 그냥 초기 상태로 돌아가 버립니다. 다른 테마의 세트도 아직 많이 남았기 떄문에 더 해보면 감상이 달라질 수도 있겠습니다만, 의욕이 꺾여서 더 할 수 있을지 모르겠네요.

Прекрасная коллекция нестандартных шахматных вариантов и задачек по ним. Минусы: Немного глючит иногда Плюсы: Есть хороший искусственный интеллект, красивая графика, приятная музыка.

Seems good all in all, but it's incredibly hard to see which piece is which. I wish there was an option for 2D, as the 3D is messing with my eyes, and makes me blunder pieces left and right. I'm not a good player by any means, but i'm not [i] that [/i] ♥♥♥♥. Playing is no fun when i spend more time trying to find the pieces than thinking about moves. Had i known the only piece/board/graphics options were limited to what's in the pictures i wouldnt have bought it. PS: After seeing it's still early access: I hope this gets fixed asap.

1 I want to change the pattern(appearance) of the pieces... 2 can't castling? bug?
