This game is flawed but still interesting. It mixes elements of a walking simulator with survival elements and horror that is adjacent to Lovecraftian themes. The controls are a bit wonky and the combat is awkward. The story is by the numbers but still a good time. Enjoy the journey, but the ending is a bit of a letdown. The ending I got (the mind ending) could have ended a minute earlier and it would have been fine but it added something that is akin to a cliffhanger for a potential sequel I am nonplussed about. If it is on sale, pick it up and enjoy but definitely seek out other horror if it is full price.
First of all, everyone will experience stuttering every few seconds while playing this game. But there is a fix. You don't need to run it as administrator (and lose the ability to unlock achievements). All you have to do is launch the game and let it sit for 10-15 minutes in the main menu. Once you see the animations are smooth there - you can start playing this game and there will be no performance issues at all. Just remember, that you'll need to wait for 10-15 minutes everytime you launch the game. So it's better to have a few bigger sessions with this game and then forget about this badly optimised average game forever. Good thing that it is not so long, 7-8 hours and you can be done with it. As for the game. It's very generic and average in every single way. Graphics, animations, voice acting, story, character's thought logic- everything is just generic and average at best. This game wants to be scary, but it isn't, but It can be gross in some scenes. Combat is very basic, you spam-attack all the horrors with some cut flowers. occasionally use some "powers" that you gradually unlock during a playthrough and dodge with the slow-a$$ animations out of danger. Levels are very linear. you can unlock some shortcuts for the future and that's pretty much it. Funnily enough, I didn't hate my time with this game. This is one of those "play once and forget" type of games and I was in the mood for one.
Its a story about Jess who joined a spiritual retreat on a remote island hoping to find peace and treatment of her illness. healing journey turns to a nightmare once they started the ritual and someone broke it! starting to uncover the dark secrets of the cult and face her own fears to survive...
What I like

Nice Survival horror atmosphere.
Interesting story with cult and supernatural elements.
Beautiful island environment and strong visuals.
Good environment exploration.

What I don't like

Not really scary.
Repetitive Combat.
Enemy variety is limited.
Performance issues.
Puzzles are simple and not very challenging.
Became boring at the end tbh .. ill give it 6/10 but ill recommend it to those who likes survival exploration horror.
Honestly never made a bad review before. But honestly? I cant reccomend this game at all. Tries to sell you cult horror, sells you a bunch of nothing Boring combat, repetitive gameplay, poor narrative, poor lines for the characters. Only really cool design was the final boss. But only the design. Every boss fight feels like it doesn't matter. You do it in 15 secons and get... yet another bunch of herbs. Feels so empty fighing every enemy with a bunch of sticks or incense. The story tries to rely on trauma, but no one is ever traumatized by the bizarre events that happen throughout the game! Crap hits the fan and the characters either just keep looking at each other jaw dropped or simply ignore whatever came to pass. Also, for a 2022 to have these stuttering issues that force you to play on admin mode, making it impossible to even get achienvments? Seriously, appreciate the effort of the team, but what a miss! 3/10 won't ever touch this again
No technical issues. Big fan of horror games. I tried several times to get into the story, but just leave after a couple of hours at best. Can't get into "unnerving cult vibe" even if I try, somehow arcade-y feel (powerups, how movement and 'combat' feels)gets in the way (and corny storytelling in the beginning throws me off). I see some interesting scenes in trailers, but never was able to get to them.
The game is stuttering constantly, it seems that is trying to connect to servers or else which isn't available. A shame couldn't play it because of such ridiculous bug. Can't recommend it either till developers will fix the issue.
Full of bugs, atleast on my system. Run the .exe file in the game folder to get rid of the stuttering. But its not realy wort it..
Great game, but it doesn't run properly on Steam. It stutters to the point of being unplayable, which can be fixed by changing compatibility settings on the .exe to always run as an administrator. If it's running as admin, you can't get Steam achievements and you can't access the DLC. The base game ends on a cliffhanger and the story continues in the DLC, so I can't finish the story.
Really bummed out about the stuttering issue. I wanted to record this game for a video but honestly if I can't stand the stutter every second then I don't expect the people watching will enjoy it either. Loved the idea and really wanted to enjoy the game but with the performance the way it is, its pointless.
The game, story, and graphics are good and smooth, but there’s some enemy repetition which kinda ruins it a bit. The combat is okay but I wish there were more weapons. If you’re gonna get it, wait for a discount. Also there are some lag sometimes that only go away if you turn the network off.
