About
THE CARIBOU TRAIL - Home before the leaves fall, they thought.
Far from home, Fisher leaves his quiet harbor town in Newfoundland to join the British war effort with his friends. They expect a short-lived adventure full of tales to bring back home.
What awaits them is not glory, but dirt, loss… and a touch of madness. The quiet gestures that hold a regiment together, the impossible choices, the weight of survival and... well, dubious stews no one back home would dare to call edible.
The Caribou Trail is a visceral, first-person narrative experience about a band of friends sent on some of the most unlikely missions of the Great War.
Inspired by real testimonies, The Caribou Trail blends history with fiction to portray a rarely explored front of WWI: Gallipoli, from the landing to the final evacuation.
Cut through barbed wire in no man’s land on a desperate reconnaissance mission, silence a sniper holding the line, and make noise during a chaotic evacuation. Each step is experienced through your own eyes.
Yet this is not about winning the war, it’s about enduring it. Explore the back lines, feel the weight of anticipation, stumble through the trenches, reclaim the dog tags of fallen comrades, and share stories with those who still have the strength to speak. Sit by the fire, share ghostly tales (that may or may not be true), and find warmth around the campfire.
When the time comes, you may choose to pull the trigger… or not. Every gesture brings you closer to the men who laugh beside you… and fall before you.
There is no score. No kill count. Only resilience, fleeting friendship, and the fragile hope of making it home.
War may take everything, but it also builds bonds.
You and your companions are not hardened soldiers, but ordinary men: fishermen, dreamers, storytellers; cooking fish’n’brews in battered pots, laughing at bad jokes, and clinging to one another when silence grows too heavy.
In the chaos, these small rituals become lifelines - reminders of who you are, and of who's fighting alongside you. What begins as survival becomes brotherhood, etched into memory long after the guns fall silent.
Gordon - Insufferable and lovable. Always the center of attention. He'll crack a joke or roast you at the worst moment possible, but he'll be there for you no matter what.
Lonnie - A whimsical, dreamy kid who doesn't belong, but still strives to do his best. What he lacks in military prowess, he compensates with his warmth and spirit. He'll even share a good spooky story or two to change the mood…
Fisher - You are the middle brother, constantly defusing (or participating in) Gordo and Lon's bickering. In the face of the war's horrors, you define Fisher's willingness to see things as they are, or instead delve into superstitious escapism.
These are the faces you will remember long after Gallipoli.
When night falls, the line between reality and imagination blurs.
Are the shadows in the trenches just tricks of the firelight, or spirits drawn to the living? In The Caribou Trail, folklore and psychological horror intertwine, echoing how soldiers made sense of a world that no longer did.
What you find may not change history, but it might change you.

Mashing hard tacks in boiled water... and suddenly I was done with this
Was interested in the story at first but then it got so boring all you do is make soup, talk to random side characters that offer nothing in the story, and then walk around the trench. Too short for my liking and feels very boring and dull at times. If you are hoping for combat in this game this game is not it.
As a history lover its a great game that really shows the good and the bad. Slow at times but for the price its well worth it
Do not buy this game. Is making broth simulator. Upset i cant get a refund due to it being slightly over 2 hours. I would not recommend personally, the characters are dry with poor VA avoid it. If you want to play a game with a slightly moving this is not the game you are looking for. 0 replayability very railroad.
not a long game by any means, but a good one that really gets you when you least expect it, i really hope to see more games like this about WW1 in the future, this game should be an example to other studios about how to make games centered around the tragedies of war and how to turn it into a beautiful story
So this is mixed one. I recommend it but it's not for everyone and has its issues. If you are coming into this wanting action, it's not for you... If you are coming in wanting a good story... It's not for you... If you like history and want to learn more about a Canadian unit and what their trench was like then it's for you. I'll start with the bad first - you don't build a relationship with the unit. It tries but doesn't really succeed with the exception of the 2 other main characters. - nothing ages so you don't feel the affects of war other than the trench gets larger. - since you never go over the top in a battle you never really see or feel the devastation of war on your unit. You only ever see some of this is you keep going to the cemetery and you see it grow - voice acting isn't great... But it's indie Ok the good - tons of history -tons of hidden items, it rewards you to explore -tons of dialogue scattered around -trench expands as the war goes on -tons of extra things to pick up and read even more history about - gives you the illusion of choice - a few shocking moment -follows the unit from start to finish on the campaign The game plays as a ghost story. I think it would have benefited more from some combat scenarios to see the impact and maybe have you connect more with people or the unit as a whole. If you want a ww1 games, you won't like this, but if you want a living history experience- then you'll get your money's worth. I explored everything and took my time, it took me about 5 hours
The game was good. The music was well made, and the story was decent enough to play through, but it wasn't the kind of story that really pulled you in. Some of the characters had dialogue that was so long and unnecessary that I didn't even feel like listening to it. The game did a nice job of including historical elements in certain parts. That said, I think it would have been great if we had actually been able to experience the famous trench warfare that World War I is known for. The cooking system was pretty fun too—basically a stew simulator. For €10, I can recommend the game. At the same time, if simple and repetitive minigames aren't your thing, don't buy it.
Super Intensiv
Great storyline, made for 4 hours of first-time gameplay!
