Absolutely wonderful presentation. The pixel art, the "damaged" cards, the sound effects, and the eldritch horror ambiance. The dev absolutely nails it. The game has survival colony sim elements, which of course boils down to managing a few core resources (four at first, and a few others you'll run into as you go, plus combinations/refining) with most actions taking a "turn" in the day. The real allure to me was the sense of adventure, trying to figure out new recipes, all with that impending gloom, the inescapable all-devouring maw slowly (and not so slowly) closing in on you, making a towering fortress feel like a sand castle. There's enough going on that it took me a few tries to beat the game-- there's a wonderfully paced amount of complexity that layers on as time goes. For me the pacing felt like my job was to just keep things from slipping out of my hands just enough to-- well, I wont spoil anything more. In true horror fashion , the game doesn't hold your hand. All in all, the largest issue is that it lacks much in terms of replayability, but it's a great way to occupy an evening or two for just $USD 3.
nice game, 10h playgame worth the dime
I'm really enjoying this game. It is difficult and opaque at first, but it is by design (the Cthulhu feel of the unknown and a creeping inevitable doom). Expect to lose a bunch of runs and just enjoy the atmosphere of the game as you learn the mechanics. There is still room for growth on this project (more defensive/mitigation strategies, buildings, units, monsters??), but as many others have said, it's 3 dollars and I've sunk 14 hours in already and haven't beaten the game yet (my current run is promising though). I'm going to buy another copy and gift it out.
Gostei bastante desse jogo, é divertido e difícil, tem que pensar ligeiro pois os inimigos vem rapidamente e destroem tudo no caminho!
Good, takes some thinking to just survive
A checklist game. You build XYZ in XYZ order and you win. You don't, you lose. Played two rounds and it was functionally the exact same enemy waves in the exact same order.
This game is great! Very challenging but a real hidden gem. If you play the demo it feels impossible because certain buildings aren't available, but it does open up in the full game. Even with everything available it is really difficult. One of those games were each time you play you get a bit further and learn something new.
The goal of the game is to cripple yourself just enough to be considered for a blessing and yet escape without giving your enemies an advantage.
is it fun? yeah! great value for money, Krular is turn based Kingdoms with a more mechanically complex resource system. successful defences are satisfying, the alchemy and mechanics are fun to decipher. the enemies are goofy. would greatly benefit from a more forgiving defence/sandbox mode and/or a more hardcore mode for the actually intended escape mechanics. i had heaps of fun building extensive supply chains, but (at time of writing) the enemies easily overpower perfectly staffed buildings. when i've bothered with the actual survival/campaign system, it's been a bit tedious. the game is currently available as a roguelike and the roguelite mode is in beta. at a guess, the dev will likely include an option to choose between the two when they're content with eithers' progression the dev is personally invested in creating a fun experience and it shows. again, the game is great fun - especially for the price of admission. i'm excited to see how the game matures as post-release development continues.
This was a really fun and challenging romp you've got to make sacrifices and make sure you have backups of all resources and a constant flow of defense took me a few hours but I finally beat it, 10/10 although short for the low price it's an incredibly enjoyable experience, the gnawing dread hoping for your beacon to finish as a swarm of enemies threaten to overtake the whole land
