A very well done game! Story imersion is top notch, the ambient sounds and music are on point. The scares are timed spectacularly! Definately what I look for in a good horror game. This dev know's what he's doing and I look forward in the next one. Just to make it clear this game has little to no hand holding and is meant to be that way so be ready to have your thinking cap on. ;) Support your smaller devs with masterpieces like this one!
Spoopy: 10/10 Overall: 9/10 Good: * Story is Excellent. * Atmosphere was really good. * Spooks were excellent. * Voice Acting. * Having a Global Sound Setting and Control Settings. Some Indie Games don't have these - However, it all reset on game open and entering the menu. * Over arching story across 3 games worked really well. Had surprising twists which was really nice. Bad: * Video, Controls and Global Volume setting didn't save. Reset on game load and going into the menu when in game. * The Objective on screen did not match what you had to do. You were soft locked out of it till you Read a note first. * Only 1 ending. The other two previous games had multiple endings. Very good game. Still slightly expensive. Buy on Sale.
The butler is great game with very good scenario . Prefer play all the series to understand the story from Claire and Ethel games .
Not often do you get to play an indie horror game that is part of a trilogy that has a well thought out interconnected story. This series delivers solid atmosphere, creepy happenings, and great scares while telling a spooky tale about a bloodline of Witches. It's a great horror series, period. If you are going to play The Butler, it is mandatory (in order to get the most out of it) that you play Ethel and Claire first. Game ran totally fine at max settings as well.
Game is pretty good but I wish it was more optimized. Edit: Thank you so much to the game developer for listening to the feedback and actually optimizing the game. I can finally finish it hehe. Thanksies!
If you played Claire or Ethel, you already know this developer knows how to build atmosphere, but The Butler honestly might be my favorite yet. The mansion feels unsettling from the moment you walk in, the voice acting is fantastic, and the storytelling kept me hooked the entire time. The pacing was great, the scares were well timed! Definitely recommend this to anyone who loves psychological horror with strong atmosphere and story. cant wait to see more from Tony! hi dev i wanted to know why the wasd controls act weird it makes me move when im not using the controls and im still
I played both Ethel and Claire before The Butler, and let me just say The Butler was a game I shall remember for years to come! I truly have never been so scared before. The unpredicatable jumpscares, the creepy atmosphere, the story were all so good. I would highly recommend this game if you enjoy a good scary game! 🫣🩷
https://youtu.be/Uj43a8-bOqA Today! We found the corpse of "The Butler" Flesh (Visuals): Looked awesome, very well done! Beautiful in some parts, unsettling in others. Dismemberment (Difficulty): The game itself is not hard, there is some puzzles you have to solve and sometimes finding things can take a moment which will make you go "how did I now see that?" But generally, harder part is conquering fears and pressing on in some points. Infestation (Bugs): Did encounter a few bugs, the dev is very responsive and actively works to correct issues quickly. Corpse Integrity (Story): The story is a spin off of the game "Claire" which is also a great game. You play as Deacon who is trying to find his father which leads him to some darker family secerts. The game has a lot of lore and some reading, which to updates the dev has shortened some. You find out the connection between Claire and a great twist at the end. Overall, story, sad, insane and very interesting. On Tony Shoulder's youtube has a break down of the story to compare notes. Something Off About It? (Ambience): Now only was the house beautiful and creepy, things could ramp up with the spookys from the sound effects, bangs, whispers and shifts in the house. The ambience was on point to make it unsettling , the basement got to me nearly the most due to the water, which loved the items floating physics, second house I think got to me the most, very short part but a hitting part. How Long To Dismember (Playtime): Took me about 2hrs in nearly one sitting, could probably be done in 1hour and 30minutes Value Of Meat (Price): Right now it is $11.99, which after the experience I got from it and seeing the work put into it, I feel like its a fair price. Post Mortem Thoughts: The Butler! I been playing Tony Shoulder's since Ethel, every game their crafting skill has improved and offered a more spooky and deep story experience. The Butler was a fantastic playthrough, enjoyed going through the story and seeing what connection it had with Claire and watching Deacon's story go deeper into madness. The scares were on point, some hitting hard. There a lot of reading but I never mind that, I enjoy lore and seeking it out, one that one scare while reading got me so good. The ending was great, once you put the pieces together and realize the small clues from the start that at first were "that's odd" and some that where just not events but hints and clues to the main story. Great Job TSGames!
