About
It looks like chess, it feels like an idle game, but it plays like: "How do I even optimize this?". Forget upgrades that give 5% here and 10% there, this new take on incremental games forces you to actually think about the perks you buy and adapt how you play in consequence.
Buy squares of the board, chess pieces, and place your pieces to generate resources.
Focus way too hard on seemingly unsolvable optimization problems and question your sanity.
Go grab a coffee. Maybe take a nap.
Come back to billions and invest in upgrades to gain more.
Stack prestige perks and restart with new ways to gain even more. Always more.
And repeat, until the board belongs to you.
Enjoy incremental games and know about chess
Like to solve "how far can I push this?" challenges
Appreciate when upgrades are meaningful and entirely change how you play and think about the game
Don’t mind restarting runs to test new ideas
Are just looking for a couple of hours swinging between despair and satisfaction
Want a low-effort idle game you can ignore in the background
Don't like diving deep into dense stats tooltips
Get upset when some official chess rules are missing from a chess-inspired game
Expect a profound story, dialogue, cinematic cutscenes, or a battle pass
I built this game to see how far I could push strategic thinking in an incremental game. Well, I think the honest answer is: a bit too far. Mixing these genre was definitely a strange idea, but I hope some of you will enjoy picking systems apart and finding disgusting optimizations. I'm genuinely curious to see what you'll do with it.

Good game, nice dev, interesting mechanics & strategy, not too pricy. Quite fun overall
Idle & Incremental Lovers recommends The Board is Yours: Absolutely amazing mix of genres! A lot of thinking involved, upgrades are new rules and completely change your strategies, pacing is great, UI is clean, balance is freaking perfect. Buy it already! + Totally unexpected mix of genres, but the best one I've seen in a long time! + Dev wannabes should take note, this is how you make upgrades: in a way that always bring something new to the gameplay! + Balancing such a game must have been a nightmare, but the dev was up to the challenge, impressing! + I can't believe it's the first game for this solo dev, and that it's only 2,50€ full price (should be at least the double). It's a steal! Please, support this dev, support this game, I promise you won't regret it! *Why can't dinosaurs play chess? Cause they're all dead!* Hope this review is helpful! Absolute banger if you like idle/incremental games, not too long or too short and perfect price tag. It's really fun to try and find the best strat. I hope we had more games like this and instead of the truckload of copy/paste garbage pushed out by devs trying to make a quick buck. My hat to you Draelent.
A compact, engrossing Incremental game that costs less than a coffee. Inspired by chess - basically protect your pieces, but try not to block their movement paths. Take advantage of unlockable board and piece synergies on prestige. Once purchased, your chess pieces can be moved at any time. Board optimisation is a satisfying way to maximise your income and takes the sting out of waiting for the next unlock.
Listen you already know if you're the kind of sicko who likes these sorts of optimisation games. If like me, you are such a sicko then this is a beautiful, elegant game that doesn't overstay it's welcome. This feels like the sort of pioneer game thats going to start a new micro-genre like luck be a landlord. highly highly recommend
I like the concept and it costs a grain of rice. Not much to complain about it Game is pretty neat
This game is incredibly complex and strategic, especially compared to so many of these recent incrementals where you just click the upgrades in the intended order until you reach the end. Every upgrade or two causes you to re-think and re-optimize. It's an absolute steal for the price. Edit: Just finished the game. It's great all the way through. Very little grinding if you have good strategy, but you can also grind a bit if you get stuck.
TL;DR It's a really fun and snappy incremental game! I recommend trying the demo first because there's a very convenient and useful reward for beating it. A video game adaptation of the classic logic puzzle / warning about the dangers of math? More likely than you'd think! This game has a lot of fun ideas, and while I'm not perfect at it I'm picking things up as I go. It provides a pretty unique spin on incremental setups by making expansion... Not exactly discouraged, but much more tactical? Just blindly buying upgrades because they're available might actually hurt you immensely, which fits with the game's chess conceit by making you think ahead. Good for anybody who is up for a very click-and-think oriented kind of progression game.
