The Arab Republic of Taghia

I rarely review products, but I thought I would write a review for this one. Taghia has great potential to become something a little more. It's definitely one of those games, where it's 2AM and nobody else is online so you decide to waste your time playing this. It's quite a bare bones game at the moment. Some suggestions would be to add more events, chose what political party/faction you wish to play as from the beginning. Based on your faction choice, you'd get music based on your faction, instead of the repeat Syrian Bashar al-Assad song -_-. It would be cool to see graphics added, clips of videos added for certain events. But overall, I recommend people purchase the game so the developers can receive more funding and add more features to this game. It's rare to find cool games that take place in the Arab world! Thanks!

Stupid, impossible to win. The situation in your country is "seemingly calm" or "calm" and then bam, next turn there's a revolt and you're dead. Don't waste your money on this nonsense.

The games resolution is awful. It cuts the entire bottom half of the screen off, and means you are not able to access any options beyond the top one. There is no way to rectify this.

I have been playing this game for a while now and started multiple different ones. The main problem is that not getting overthrown and killed is almost impossible because there is no real control over the country to actually modernize for example. Adding more option to shape the country into the leaders vision would give the game more depth.

I've already put in about 5 hours with this game on the non-Steam version. The game has a unique and fairly untouched setting(The Arab Spring) with gameplay that's addicting and straightforward but that still gives a fair challenge. It's most similar to " Ostalgie "or " China: Mao's Legacy "

Predictably terrible. All oppressive games have been terrible and buggy. This "dev" is probably the worst game dev in the country. Don't waste your money or your time.

This game definitely seems like it could grow into something really interesting, and I've already had quite a lot of fun with it. The randomization of factions and foreign relations really adds an interesting element to it and I hope that it may be expanded on more as time goes on. For the price, not bad!

Cool game and interesting concept, however... how does one win? Once the Arab Spring happens, its so hard to keep everything under control. The political power meter drops too fast for me to do anything in the game... so I am forced to watch everything unfold and I can't even control my own country.

It's way too hard even on the "Easy" setting (and I say this as someone who has played and won literally dozens of strategy games of all types) but it DOES allow you to liberate Palestine and for that, I respect it. In my game after failing several times (the lack of a tutorial makes that easy to do) I decided to just focus on building up the military and secret police and taking on Israel. I've noticed from other playthroughs that if you do NOT take on Israel and seek good relations with the west, the Israelis bomb you and America invades. That seems counter-intuitive but it is so close to what happened to Iraq, Libya and Syria after they disarmed that I really respect the dev for making the game work that way. My plan worked and I was actually able to liberate Palestine. However I ended up massively overspending, deep in debt which is once again, exactly what tends to happen in wars in real life (nothing will ruin your budget faster than a war) which forced me to rely on secret police and rigged elections to hold on to power. By keeping the support of the military, the secret police, and conservative Sunni Muslims, I was actually able to make this work, though I quit playing after 2025 simply because the game was made in 2020 so I assumed that if there wasn't a victory screen by the end of 2026, there simply isn't a victory screen. Sadly, this game seems unfinished and I don't know if that guess is correct but I don't regret the roughly two hours I spent with it considering that I bought the game during a sale. I hope the dev makes more games and/or adds things to make this a bit more playable.
