About
You have crash-landed on a lethal, radiation-soaked planet, and you are running out of time. A scorching sun that burns everything in its path is coming your way. Your only hope of survival is a massive mobile base too complex for one person to operate. You are forced to make a decision no human has ever faced: creating a crew of alternative versions of yourself.
But your solution may just become your biggest problem.
You crashed. You are entirely alone. The sun is a death sentence, and your mobile base must keep moving to outrun it. With no rescue coming, you must find a way to operate it, or you’ll die.
When the planet itself is your enemy, every second spent standing still brings you closer to ash.
To survive, you must move. To move, you need help. Forced to use the base’s advanced quantum technology and the planet’s unique resources, you must create The Alters: alternative versions of yourself. Brought to life by a supercomputer that turned your alternative life choices into reality, they are your only hope. They bring the specific expertise and capable hands you drastically lack, but they also bring their own human baggage.
A crew of ‘yourselves’ is a psychological nightmare. Every Alter arrives with distinct personalities, memories, and regrets. You aren't just managing resources. You are also a relationship manager to yourself, mediating conflicts and confronting your past choices lightyears from home.
As tensions rise, your Alters will clash over how to handle the mission. Keep them sane and keep them together, or your own egos will destroy your only chance of seeing Earth again.
Your rolling base is your lifeline, your factory, and your home. Customize and upgrade it to accommodate your growing crew. Research cutting-edge technologies, manage crucial life-support gear, and manufacture what you need to survive. Turn your base into a self-sustaining powerhouse capable of keeping both your crew fed and your systems humming.
You cannot hide inside the hull forever. To fuel your base and progress your research, you must step out onto the hostile planet's surface. Venture out into unpredictable anomalies and heavy radiation to mine essential resources.
But watch the clock, as every expedition is a high-stakes gamble against the oncoming burning sunrise.

Well, the game is good. But it's not perfect. Warning: This review contains spoilers for both the story and the gameplay mechanics. Let's start with the negatives. I played Acts 1 and 2 before the Last Variable DLC was released. Back in Act 1, I encountered a softlock when climbing onto a ledge and fell through the terrain. Fortunately, that was the only game-breaking bug I experienced. There were a few other minor issues, but they only happened once. Then the DLC came out, and things got much worse. Alters started teleporting around, and the incoming call sound and visual effects kept playing even after answering the call and during the conversation. The achievements for building the fourth and fifth containers never unlocked for me. When I loaded my Act 2 save, right before one of the most important choices in the game, all of my Alters were standing together in one spot. I could assign them to different jobs, and they would technically perform those tasks, but their character models never moved. Even the status display showed them all standing in the same place. This completely destroys the immersion—and immersion is arguably the game's greatest strength. The Alters is all about becoming invested in its world and the choices you make. So how do you release a DLC that ends up breaking the base game? Another thing I dislike is when a game presents you with a meaningful choice and then quietly tells you afterward that you picked the "wrong" one. No matter what you choose in Act 2, the Technician leaves with part of the crew. In one version of events he can return; in the other, he never does. Even if he forgives Jan, he still refuses to come back. That means one of the choices is objectively worse if your goal is to keep the whole team together. I could have accepted that if the game actually developed the storyline for the crew members who leave. But it doesn't. I visited the rebels' base several times, and after the supplies quest there's no way to contact them, talk to them, help them, or ask for their help. That entire storyline simply goes nowhere. Speaking of choices, the game constantly tells you that they're important, permanent, and impossible to take back. Yet the save system itself lets you pin saves right before major decisions. That completely undermines the narrative. How am I supposed to treat my decisions seriously when I can instantly reload and try another outcome, like in a visual novel? Now for the positives. The game is incredibly cinematic. Not long before playing it, I watched the film Project Hail Mary, and it gave me exactly the same feeling: hard science fiction, space, a lonely protagonist who finds kindred spirits while trying to survive in an alien environment. It's fantastic. The music, sound design, and camera work amplify that atmosphere tremendously. The first time you create an Alter is unforgettable. You genuinely feel everything Jan is going through. It almost feels like you're watching a high-quality sci-fi movie with a real actor rather than playing a game. I only wish the developers had managed to maintain that atmosphere throughout the entire game. Unfortunately, they don't. The story is extremely original and definitely memorable. It explores relationships, parents and children, love, difficult choices, philosophy, determinism, and ethics. It would have deserved a standing ovation if not for some noticeable weaknesses in Act 3. Finally, there's the survival and base-building gameplay. It's fun, varied, and offers multiple ways to develop your strategy. You can choose to handle every problem yourself or automate as much as possible by relying on your Alters. That's before you even factor in the optional research branches, which add even more depth. I highly recommend playing this game—once the bugs are fixed.
Расслабляющая игра с прекрасным сюжетом и невероятными героями, сыгранными всего одним человеком
Scratches the same itch as This War of Mine and Frostpunk
As someone that often thinks about the "what ifs" and whether i would have taken different paths in life, this game gave a good insight into what if you had the opportunity to relive / change some of those variables, what would things be like. Whilst the paths are predetermined in so far as who you can choose and their stories are already written, it gives a really unique insight into that question, at least for me. The game is "about" 50/50 gameplay and narrative. Its more a story than a "pure" survival game. it certainly has that frost punk feel to it (count down timer, tense resource allocation and decision making), but on normal it gave me a good bit of time around 30 days for act 1 which i felt was quite generous. On act 2 and i have found it quite charming. Although sometimes slightly "cringe" not bad enough for me to be turned off by it. If you are a person that regular has introspections then this raises many moral and philosophical questions which i think is great. So far at least (Act 2), i have enjoyed it and looking forward to how it pans out. For Consideration - This is not a pure base building solid survival game in the traditional sense. Things (resources, time) are finite and you will have to move on eventually - It does have a lot of narrative and dialogue - Yet to see how my decisions matter too much (although it says they wont work as long if unhappy). You wont be able to please everyone. Which raises some interesting choices and dialogues. - This is not an open world in the truest sense although resource nodes do fluctuate over time simulating planetary changes before you likely have to move onto the next level. (personally i am fine with that). - Certainly no run and gun as of yet. All in all if you fancy a different take on the survival genre with the "flavour" of frost punk thrown in , this is a good purchase for the price.
Хорошая вещь, а с DLC вообще песня
目前还是很推荐,唯一就是经常会被卡墙里
This game is fantastic and unique. I absolutely love it. It combines narrative and management gameplay really well, with a unique premise. My only complaint is the instability. I encountered a fair number of crashes, particularly while loading a saved file in a new playing session.
