There really should be a middle rating option here. Even though British television was very common in my country, with many popular series from the 1980s and plenty of exposure to very specific English humor and regional references, Thank Goodness You’re Here! still did not quite click with me. At the very least, I do not fully understand the enormous hype surrounding it. The game certainly has a distinctive style: the hand-drawn visuals are charming, and there is a good dose of humor in some situations, although not in all of them or even in the majority of them. The story itself is not particularly important; it is essentially a sequence of gags taking place over the course of a single day. For me, this would be a middle rating. I can understand why someone who is very familiar with the regional culture represented in the game and already enjoys this type of experience might consider it a perfect package, but it did not have quite the same effect on me. Also full price for game of 2.5-3h is questionable.

Впрочем, кое-что осмысленное всё же сказать можно: перед нами эдакая смесь из квеста и простенького платформера, обильно приправленная абсурдным и беспощадно пошлым британским юмором... и всё это оформлено при помощи весьма своеобразной стилизации. И знаете что? Мне понравилось, на фоне прочих проектов игра прям выделяется своей самобытностью, так что советую обратить внимание, тем более что и времени у вас прохождение много не займёт.

It's not really a game. It's more like a clickable funny movie. I did have some laughs & I really enjoyed the artwork, but honestly I wanted to return it. I played it all the way through because I was hoping it would get more challenging & I didn't think it would end as quickly as it did. I liked the exploration part of it, but where to go was more so spoonfed to you.

TGYH is a game about being a cat that accidentally completes fetch quests for the inhabitants of a small Northern English town in the 1980s. That's not how the game presents it, but it is what the gameplay boils down to. This is a comedy game that consists entirely of regional Northern English culture jokes and references, so you'll get the most out of it if you're from there. Everyone else can still enjoy the absurdist English humor core: I didn't laugh out loud, but I did smirk from constant low-grade amusement for most of my 3 hour playthrough with a few sensible chuckles. My one complaint is that the pacing breaks somewhat if you don't immediately find how progress to the next part of the game, but there was nothing that pulled me out of the experience.

I don't know how this game got Overwhelmingly Positive reviews. It's one of the most boring games I've ever played. The dialogue is good, but almost everything else is terrible. Half the time, you don't even know where you're supposed to go. There's no real fun—you just walk around and hit everything in front of you.

This is a delightfully weird game, full of quirky characters and absurd situations. However, I didn't find it to be as outright funny as many of the other reviewers did. There's a lot of decent sight gags, the wacky characters with silly voices are amusing, and I enjoyed the bits with over-the-top cartoon physics; but ultimately there were only a few points at which I actually laughed at anything, which is why I'm reluctantly giving it a thumbs down. Some other nice things: The art and music serve the goals of the game well; in particular there's a big musical number toward the end that's just perfect. Many of the characters are more well developed than you'd expect for a 3 hour comedy game with a relatively large cast of miscellaneous townsfolk. The gameplay is very minimal; you walk around and slap things, or occasionally jump on them. There are a couple of trivially easy platforming sections. There are no real puzzles, except occasionally wandering around finding the right thing in the environment you need to interact with to progress, which does get a little tedious as the game revisits the same areas with changes over time. Also, there's exactly one place in the game where you need to hold down the "slap" button, which is obnoxious. Ultimately, I'm not, like, mad that I spent $10 and a couple of hours of my life on this, but I feel like there are probably better options out there if you want a comedy game.

A fun experience through and through - the game was full of unpredictable moments- keeping me chuckling with every turn of the corner. Exceeded my expectations! 10/10 game
