For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Terrinoth: Fun But Flawed
For the right group it's 100% worth playing, and there's real fun to be had. For the wrong person it's lackluster and disappointing. Overall my wife and I had 30+ hours of fun with this game, and we do recommend it - but there are some specific things you should know before you dive into it with your gaming partner.
Wait, your gaming *partner*?
Yep. Terrinoth shines most when you're playing with a friend - and specifically when you're playing with one friend. Here's why:

Characters are fun but simple. A starting character has 2 at-will abilities, 2 cooldown abilities, a special, and 2 pieces of equipment. An endgame character adds 1 more cooldown ability and 1 more piece of equipment, and that's it. Your abilities will get better and more fun over time, but you really want everyone controlling 2 characters so each player has enough to do.
Fights have lots of monsters, and you don't have any player inputs during this time (although you can set up "overwatch" with certain characters beforehand). I like this because it keeps things moving, but it means that you're waiting a LONG time between turns if you're only playing one character.
The first 17 of 20 missions all have a required character - either a new character you just got or a character that has some specific story beats during the mission. This means somebody is always changing characters. When playing with a partner, this is easier; my wife and I basically grew our "stables" of characters that we switched between and it worked out pretty well.
If you have a particularly patient and flexible group of 3-4 friends, I suppose that could work too. For my friends they'd be distracted with all the waiting at higher player counts.
So why does Terrinoth work with a friend?
Because you can shout at them when they AOE you, or activate the bomb you're standing next to. Because you can thank them when their paladin jumps in and rescues you with a shield. Because the dialogue is sometimes laugh-out-loud funny and it's great to have somebody else to laugh with... but it's sometimes cringe-inducing bad and it's also great to have somebody else to laugh with then. Because the game is good but not great, and the fights start enjoyable but get repetitive, and the upgrades start juicy but fade away over time, and eventually the plot peters out with a weird "but it was ME the whole time!" psuedo reveal, and ALL of that becomes better with a friend. You can laugh at it, discuss it, talk about it, poke fun at it, and it's genuinely fun when you do. Because in between the awkward talent trees and the obvious favoritism for certain characters (there is never a reason to NOT bring Finniel, I'm just saying), there are a ton of good fights to fight and environments to explore. Each level is filled with secrets, some of which are genuinely well hidden. And those fights are way better when you have someone to share them with, and those secrets are way more fun to discover if you can find them before your friend does. And ultimately the value proposition of Terrinoth is this: there are too many better single player RPGs and tactics games to recommend Terrinoth for just that, but there's few enough multiplayer RPGs and tactics games that my wife and I are always on the lookout for more. Note that I'm saying this despite the fact that, at time of review, there was a persistent bug causing crashes at the end of each multiplayer game (I'll let devs leave a comment if/when they fix it). There is a good game here, and it shines brightest in multiplayer.
Final Verdict
If you have a friend to play with (or a particularly patient 3-4 person group), buy it full price and enjoy. If you're playing solo, wait for a sale before you give this one a try.

I feel like I'm the perfect target demographic for this game. I play loads of tRPGs and I absolutely love Descent: Journeys In The Dark. I've played Runebound, I've played Runewars, I've even read the lore so I know what a star of timmeran is and what all the cities they mention in the game are. I even know who Mad Carthos is. Which is lucky - because when these things come up in the game it just doesn't explain them at all. Heroes of Terrinoth is a tRPG that gives you a small group of pre-defined characters, playing 4 at a time, who have two permanently set skills and a small list of skills that do various things based on that character's archetype. These secondary skills (you can equip 3 per character) are found at the end of scenarios and picked up during scenarios as well. Finding them in the scenarios does dry up fast however, after the first five or so I stopped discovering new skills lying around in the scenarios. There's a fighter, a ranger, a mage, a druid, a cleric, a rogue and then...I think I'd possibly call the other two "other rogues" just in a slightly different format. These last two join a bit further into the game and I basically only used them if the game forced me to. You take 4 of these heroes into each scenario and (with the exception of the final 3 scenarios, there are 20 scenarios in all) it will make you take a hero that's thematically appropriate for the scenario. All your characters will chime in and speak during the scenarios and the characters that you don't take along will level up when you're not using them. Which is quite important since there's a specific character I basically didn't use and it would have been a real nightmare having to use him otherwise! You also have three equipment slots. You'll find various items around the levels that you can equip and later on you unlock shards that you can use to make these items stronger. There's a baffling bug though that when you get beyond two rows of items for a particular category there's no way to scroll down to other items in that same category so a few of my weapons were effectively locked away, unable to be upgraded. I enjoyed the game a lot for the first two acts. You feel like you're being drawn into a larger story, as the cleric character turns up in the prologue to tell you about terrible things happening and you go off to help her deal with them. The enemy at the end of act 1 flees and you head off to find out where they've gone. It sort of breaks down after this though. Acts 2 and 3 are REALLY tenously connected to 1/4 and honestly it felt to me like originally Act 1 and 4 were a longer campaign and acts 2/3 were separate standalone things which have for some reason been put together into a single campaign. After act 1 you head to a baron who then starts a totally new story, at the end it tenously connects to act 3 in the same sort of way (you find a hint towards where the Act 1 villain has gone and you head off that way, but then it becomes a totally new story again). I found this really strange, it's very disjointed. Act 2 has its own set of villains, act 3 does - and the act 3 ones have an absolutely terrible Blight mechanic - and then act 4 just returns to the villains of act 1. Act 2 especially feels strange to me because the enemy at the end of it is such a huge deal and important part of the lore of the games that having it as a mid-game boss didn't fit for me at all. I kinda feel like the game is meant to be just a vehicle for putting you into loads of combats and I do understand this but having the connecting story is interesting and Road To Legend (the app for Descent) manages this SO MUCH BETTER than this game. In a lot of ways I found myself wishing I was playing the board game. I want to pick a character, a class and then follow a single story. I want the combats to be more relevant and less constant. I also really dislike the reinforcements that the enemies get in every fight, just when you think it's over you'll get another load of enemies that aren't a challenge any more and just serve to make the fight longer. Boss fights can also be super tedious. Enemies in the game tend to have around 100hp with slightly stronger ones being up at 400 or so. The bosses have around 3000. It mostly makes them enormous HP sponges that you bash and bash until they die. The act 2 boss is super guilty of this which is why I fell off the hype train after that. Act 3 introduces the blight mechanic - a status effect that stacks and can only be removed one at a time. If you get 30 stacks of it on you then you immediately fall unconscious - and also new abilities have basically dried up by this point. From around the mid way of act 2 until I finished the game I was using the same abilities on my characters with nothing new coming up that beat what I already had. In act 1 it's really cool to discover you can knock an enemy off a ledge and kill it. But then you realise that this is the most efficient way to kill nearly every enemy and while some things are immune to this method most stuff isn't. So you knock things off. Over and over and over. And over. It kinda feels like 20 hours of content spread over about 35 hours and the later levels feel lazier and stranger. Things like (this has been mentioned in another review) the final level still giving you gold and XP which will never be used. Every single chest in the final level has gold in it. Gold you can't ever possibly use. Why? Big long paths to get to treasure chests and all I get is more worthless gold. There are skill points you can spend (and refund instantly, so you can experiment) on the skills that you equip. Some are straight buffs and others are "When [status] occurs, your [damage is buffed/you do something different]". The second part means you can create decent synergy across your characters with one inflicting burning and then the next doing a spell that does more damage when the enemy is burning. This is pretty interesting, but I often find that the skill upgrades are too situational and again as you get further it's just way less exciting to be buying stuff with my skill points. It's a game that feels like it's lacking a capstone, like we're doing 3 short campaigns with no real crescendo at the end, like I'm levelling without any "ultimate" ability and I'm still upgrading a weapon on my mage that I legit found in the first five minutes of the game. I feel too like there's not enough Terrinoth in here. Why aren't there any of the heroes or items from the games? Why use the mythos if you're not really gonna make it feel like it fits? I enjoyed myself most of the time but there's too many missed shots, too many pitfalls and too much repetition of content to really recommend it to anyone.
First time review. First I would like to say the only reason there are allot of people giving it a negative review right now is the multiplayer. The solo campaign is awesome. If you like BG3 or Wrath of the Righteous, you are going to really like this game. The characters are very enjoyable, and the game play is very well done. You start off the game with a handful of characters and get a new one at the beginning of each chapter except for the last one. Each one is very unique and plays very different. Instead of an open world each chapter is broken into around 5 dungeons, each also very different and well built. They usually took me around 2 hours per dungeon, but I like to explore every nook and cranny. Plus there is ALOT of different enemies in this game, unlike some other games of the like. I found very little bugs and the game ran beautifully. If I had any complaints it would just be the game was a bit short coming in at 40 hours for me. And balance was a little off, especially on one or two bosses. By the end of the game you will be rolling most fights. Oh, and please add a mini map on the screen. Other then that I really enjoyed this game. 8.5/10
An unexpexted twist on turn based rpgs. Just as really fine game. Me and my buddy love it. Good job devs.
Very fun and enjoyable game. It has its cons for sure but I would suggest it to anyone that likes game like BG3, DIvinity...etc. It has also has a unique game style which makes it a bit fresh too in its own genre.
Finished the first chapter (5 missions) solo and wanted to collect some thoughts here. To start, the game visually reminds me of the Dungeons of Naheulbeuk (spelling is for losers), is fully voice acted, and has a number of companions that function uniquely with their own kits. Luckily for this game, that is where the similarities end. The voice acting in Terrinoth is very well done thus far; none of the purposefully grating lines/voices, some attempts at less cringey humor, no obnoxiously bleeped curse words, and a pleasant narration voice. The limited, modular leveling up system allows for easy respeccing and encourages experimentation. Equipping and upgrading abilities was a fantastic system that really leans into party synergies and making the party of 4 into veritable mob crushing machine. Movement and positioning-based abilities like knockback, charges, and pushes are well implemented and give fantastic combat options to deal with tough to crack enemies. You're not just spamming the same abilities for the sake of decreasing healthbars. each effect of a given ability serves a tactical and exploitable purpose. I also appreciate how the lore of the world is interspersed throughout exploration and conversation. As someone with no prior experience with Descent universe, the information was not presented overwhelmingly. The lore is both digestible and consistent (so far). It is not Wrath of the Righteous, BG3, or Solasta. Without a creatable player character its difficult to put this under the tag of a traditional CRPG, but it definitely shares a lot of the DNA of an isometric, party-based dungeon crawler with choices coming in the form of picking a specific party composition with prebuilt floors at Level 1 that you can build into specific roles very early on. Two thumbs up, will edit as progress continues

Alright, I have been for over 20 hours and I have to say sadly, dont buy this game. The game keeps crashing in multiple ways: -commands grey out mid fight, needing to reload the save. -there is the black screen of death during cinematics for anyone who is not the host -we would lose access to some if not all the usual access to the games systems. I bought this game because it showed promise to be a cool fantasy coop game but with the amount of times we had to reload I can barely remember the story I was going through. I intend to finish this game since I am on the last chapter but I strongly suggest to only buy this game once it is on sale, 39.99 is simply to much for the amount of bugs. Now asside from the bugs here are some pros about the game: The voice acting is fun and gave us some good laughs. The characters you play seem pretty balanced and original. When the coop does work, it was a good experience. The only con I have asside from the bugs of course: Too much padding. My god.......the amount of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ waves of units we have to go through just to keep playing, and this is not just one fight, its almost all of them. Its to much. It happened to much that it became pradictable of when the next wave would show up trhe second we would kill the 3rd before last minion. If you would reduce the amount per fight it would greatly improve the experience tbh. Anyways for anyone who is not interested in reading to recap: too many bugs to justify this price, buy it on sale at your own risk.
