About
Terfenstein 3D is a first-person shooter game with a retro style from the early '90s. Consider it a creative iteration mix of Wolfenstein 3D and Doom 1. You will be progressing through seven levels of increasing difficulty and complexity with a set of six classical weapons arsenal and five traditional enemies.
The game offers queer, transgender, and feminist themes of gender-critical people and what a post-war apocalyptic world would look like if gender fascists won. In this dystopian world, fascists have killed and imprisoned all transgender and queer people, subjecting them to harsh conversion therapy, imprisonment, and death. You play as an escapee fleeing their detention center, while you exact your revenge.
This game brings to light the very real transphobic violence many transgender people face for just existing. And draw a comparison between gender critics and nazi Germany.
Developed over four months, this solo project is one of many controversial games the developer has made. Being able to artistically express yourself is a proven way to heal trauma and possibly also move on. This game also hopes to achieve that for players who need it through gameplay that would stir up hidden and muddied emotions.
Please take care of yourself and your loved ones.

It's a boomer shooter with a streak of contemporary shock jock pizzazz. The gameplay is inspired by Wolfenstein, and the music goes from Wolfenstein/Doom into Doom 2016 around the 3rd stage. Honestly, the soundtrack went pretty hard for chiptune cheese metal. While the minigun and pickup detection is a little rickety at times, the shotgun felt very powerful, and I liked that it was weaker at longer ranges and didn't have quite as wide a spread up close as it does in Doom. Thematically, it's very timely. It's meant to shock, but once it has your attention, it's worth taking the time to think about for a second. It's a response to people in the United States saying that they want to 'eradicate transgenderism from public life', which can only mean mass imprisonment and/or mass graves. In a dystopia where that comes to pass, the unnamed protagonist doesn't really have any other recourse but to fight her way out. This last part is me digging way too deep into an indy game meant to garner negative attention, but considering how she handles her weapons with similar competence to the Doom Marine and Agent Blaskowitz, it's reasonable to assume that she has a background in either law enforcement or the armed services. I think that can be another thread of discussion-- despite her service that is superficially lauded by the kind of people who would want to lock her up just for being (presumably) trans or gay (or both), she'd still get the same brutal treatment if the 'eradicate from public life' crowd have their way.
it's not going to keep us from getting genocided but it feels good still so idgaf
Politics aside, it is a terrible game. Absolutely lazy, uninspired Wolfenstein/Doom clone. There is nothing redeemable about this game unless you are genuinely OBSESSED with the politics. In terms of pure game mechanics, experience, etc. it is completely derivative and redundant. Go play Doom. Don't play this sleepy ripoff trash that was designed to shoe-horn the developers politics. The gameplay amounts to "KILL CIS WOMEN!!!!! (because they're Nazis... duh!)". The 'Nazi' aspect was likely added AFTER the fact so that the game isn't just you killing white cis blonde women repeatedly. They're Nazis, so it's okay, right...? Don't waste your time or money. I'm refunding this trash.
The only thing making this a "Not Recommended" Is the inability to save progress in any way. Not between levels, not quicksaving during levels, nothing. So you have to complete the whole thing in one sitting. It's probably not very long, but I'd still like the option to quit after a level or two and come back later. As for the gameplay itself? its a very competent wolfenstein 3d style fps with fun level design and enemy variety. Weapons feel good to shoot, and although a bit standard and unexciting, the aresenal offers variety. As for its political messaging? I think it should recognise that male terfs exist and have some male enemy soldiers because exclusively shooting women does give credence to the transphobes calling any pushback against terfism as misogyny. But transphobes who want to call this a hate crime will do so no matter what. Its a bit of catharthic fun that doesn't really say much beyond transphobes suck, and sometimes that's enough. Seriously though, give me a save system.
Very short mediocre old school fps in the style of Wolf 3D. It's not terrible, like the gunplay with the shotgun and the minigun is quite fun but it does have a lot of issues. -there is no pause, if you hit ESC the game closes, and you can't save your game which isn't such a big deal as the whole game isn't even an hour long but I also didn't die once. -it starts off very easy but it doesn't take long till the game throws tons of enemies at you and if you go in guns blazing you will most likely die. The best strat is to simply allert the enemies (usually you alert once in an area and then everyone will be alerted in a couple of rooms near that), then wait behind a chokepoint and kill them one by one if they come to you which is kinda cheesy but to be fair often the strat in Wolf 3D as well. In the last level as some point my performance also heavily droped due to the amount of enemies I guess which is kinda funny considering the graphics of the game -you constantly come to closed doors which you cannot open at all but you cannot see which door is locked and which isn't. You can only see if a key is needed for a door. Which means you will constantly interact with a door and see if you can open it. -the game is mostly very linear and the side doors and most of the times single small rooms with only some supplies in it -there are secrets in the game however I did only find like 2 or 3 and they were all shortcuts in the levels which were pretty much pointless. And they are way to hard to find -You can collect rockets at some point but I never found a rocket launcher even though I checked every room which is just dumb. I guess it's hidden in some way to hard to find secret.
Had alot of fun with it, plus its really fun to just mow down people who are 'feminists' but actually serve their male handlers who would rather them get a husband sitch and live like women do in a handmaids tale than have rights. Sadly, the game has many texture errors. Not worth 7 dollars.
It is fun and worth getting. Pros: Fun gameplay Nice graphics Secrets Good music Cons: No map Cannot save game No Steam Achievements I give it 7/10
If you have no problem playing as a Good Man shooting Bad Men (and Bad Dogs) in Wolf 3D, then you shouldn't have an issue playing a Good Woman shooting Bad Women (and Bad Dogs) in TERF 3D. Simple as. Remember kids, Trans people are people, and people deserve Human Rights.
Please make a save feature for this game. I enjoyed playing this game on my livestream, but after 5.5 hours of playing the game, and getting close to beating the game, I lost all my progress. I paused and when I went to pick up my keyboard again, I don't know what I did but instead of resuming the game restarted. I was very sad. I'm not great at video games and so I expect if I play again it will take at least 3 hours for me to reach the final level, but I'm not even sure if I want to attempt again because I could easily lose all my progress again without a save feature. That being said, overall I enjoyed this game and I appreciate the concept.
