If you are interested in tennis, this game will make you very happy. If you're not interested, you won't like it. 10/7
This is the game I was waiting my whole life. As a kid, I used to manually write tournament draws and seasons, with manual handling of results, champions, number of points, etc. I was always hoping for a game like this, but basically had no real hope in the meantime. All I could find were rather unrealistic arcades of tennis matches. Then, I discovered TEM2. Little indie gem that is basically my most favourite game of all time now. Since young age, I am playing management and tycoon games of various kinds, especially Football Manager, RCT, SimCity, GearCity, etc. But this, this is unique. It's both simple and so immersive, its' genius replayability over and over. In a sense, it reminds me of early Championship Managers that have legendary status, except it is in fact modern, really playable and up to date game. It perhaps doesn't have big brand sponsor and marketing, but TEM2 (and also Tennis Elbow 4) is absolute the best of the best of tennis game world. With some easily attained mods, it has all the real players of the world, all the (customizable) tournaments, the whole package. And if you want to not just coach and lead your player through his career ("just"), then you can even play, with physics and game mechanics much more convincing then any flashy rival game that tries to simulate tennis. And yes, at first I was very sceptical due to very simple, excel-like interface and so on, but this exactly now adds to its' charm. If you are fan of tennis, and especially of management style games, this is a candidate for GOAT in my opinion.
I gave it a thumbs up because it is not a bad game at all, but it just isn't for me as I was looking more for a hardcore tennis simulation based manager. The menu's are really ugly, everything appears more childlike or like a mobile phone based game, and some of the things don't look right. Now, the 3D gameplay I actually enjoy a lot, the fact it allows you to create double matches is a plus, and the better character customization and art vs picture database like Tennis Manager 2022. However, it doesn't make that itch I crave like Tennis Manager 2022 does, but I will keep playing this game from time to time.
¡Altamente recomendado!
Game is unbelievably dull on the management side. It's barely deep enough to be called a game at all. And no, that's not being harsh by any stretch. Just a bunch of stat bars to increase\decrease by passing time. Actively playing the matches aren't too bad but why bother when you could just pick up the the other non-management game instead which I'm sure is much more enjoyable on that front. Unless you're a tennis fanatic I wouldn't bother. It's probably about up there with the cycling managers in terms of depth and that's being very kind. 10$ game at most.
NOTE: TEM2 playtime isn't recorded by Steam when integrated within Tennis Elbow 4 (which is how I've been mostly using it) GREAT MANAGEMENT SIMULATION So this is a great game when you got the itch to manage other tennis players instead of just yourself (see TE4). And when you buy this game and TE4 you can use the manager aspects from this game(TEM2) within TE4 which is fantastic. (Plus if you have TE4, You also get the graphical updates including updated UI in TE4 and the XKT mod) TRY BEFORE YOU BUY Not sure? Try out the demos. https://www.managames.com/tennismanager/tennisgame.html MATCH TYPE AFFECTS MATCH RESULTS Something to note when coaching matches. There is a higher loss ratio when selecting text-based matches vs 3D real-time matches. RECOMMENDED If you like tennis, even a little bit and managing the players it's worth a buy especially on sale and especially worth it with TE4.
Just an outstanding game. If the idea of tennis management game sounds good to you, then it is hard to imagine how this could be better. Maybe a graphics or presentation update, but that feels like nitpicking as it gets all the important things right. The gameplay is so smooth. The players play like their real life counterparts. The training and tactics feel meaningful and rewarding. Strong recommend for people who like sports management games.
Played for one hour, could only return a couple of shots back. The MC refuses my orders, to move, etc. How the hell this have V.positive reviews is beyond me. DARK SOULS IS EASIER... 💩 graphics, gameplay, sound, controls and game overall 1/10
