Amazing Game, amazing heritage I still play the original but this follows it's DNA perfectly. Jeff Minter is the man and Atari also need credit for allowing TxK to become T4k. Can't recommend enough. A+++
Turdfest 4000 is what this game should be named. it starts out fine for the first few levels before taking a dive into the Minter mushroom patch. You're constantly bombarded by suckadelic garbage which completely obscures the playing field, making it virtually impossible to see what you're shooting at and who's shooting at you. This is especially annoying in the late levels which require you to try and avoid shooting certain things. I've played. both the arcade original and Tempest 2000 for the Atari Jaguar, and neither were plagued by this lame design. In addition, the game constantly crashes in the late levels. I've never been able to get passed the 90's because the game always crashes. I've decided to stop playing this POS title and move on to something else. Thankfully it was only a few bucks. Stick with 2000.
URGENTLY requires spinner (mouse) support! I have to play it with a hack and I can't configure mouse buttons on my control panel or joystick buttons! Until then it's a no from me!
One of the best score attack games I've ever played!
EAT ELECTRIC DEATH!!!!! This game certainly isn't for everyone (especially if you have epilepsy, lol) but as someone who's a huge fan of Tempest and has played dozens of hours of Tempest 2000, I can assure you most of the negative reviews here are either 40-year-old men who were expecting a remake of the original arcade version, or reviews made in 2018 on launch day. This game is amazing. I bought it yesterday and have already gotten to level 35. Achievement hunting in this game is fun, and both gamemodes are fun as well. The only issue I have is the fact that, when first setting up the game, it's super buggy. But if you can get past that, this game is the best Llamasoft game and one of the best in the Tempest series.
I was initially frustrated with the difficulty in getting my arcade control panel working with this game, but thanks to a post somewhere in these reviews with a fix for spinner control and some trial and error with the keyboard configuration, I now have it working very well. The graphics are great! Real eye candy! The Ultimarc Spintrak spinner I use is working great, just like the original Tempest I play in MAME and the super zapper and Fire buttons are now working as they should. I use an IPAC 2 interface for my control panel. I’ve never played the T2K version of this, so I can’t compare the two as others have in these reviews.. (I was mostly into Ambrosia MAC games and Macmame at that time). Now i’m running games from both Mac and PC and I’m discovering all these cool PC games! I’ll have to look up that game Polybius but someone else mentioned.
I expected the ice physics to make this way worse than it is it's actually pretty decent. I think 2000's still better but I'm still having a lot of fun.
O controle é horrível, a Garra fica derrapando o tempo todo. Os gráficos são confusos demais e na zona toda é difícil pegar os power-ups, quase invisíveis. Se desinstalar o jogo os scores não serão salvos. Não há motivo para jogar isso com Tempest 2000 disponível.
