About
Build and decorate your tavern, hire staff, stock your larder, meet the locals, be the boss and run the show! Whether you keep a cosy neighbourhood taphouse or a lean, mean gold-minting machine, the choices - and consequences - are yours.

Dozens of intertwined game systems create unpredictable emergent situations. Dirt, heat, noise, flammability, sickness and of course, a parade of colourful customers all keep the unexpected coming.

Today’s situation: Half of your staff are in bed with sleep-sickness. Orders are piling up and patrons’ tempers are getting heated. So is the tavern - because it’s on fire! A spark from a broken lantern landed on just the wrong patch of dirt with no one around to notice. Oops, perhaps it’s time to call the fire brigade...
An expansive narrative campaign lets you build taverns across a vibrant world full of your favourite fantasy cultures. Each new location brings fresh challenges and surprising stories. Meet immortal elementals, outwit halfling philosophers and aid a crazed orc inventor.

Experience a magical storybook fully-narrated by Steven Pacey. Encounter hundreds of bite-sized stories with a surprise at every turn. There’s always someone needing the guidance of a Tavern Keeper like you. What choices will you make?
Decorate every nook and hollow of your tavern to create everything from bustling taprooms to relaxing reading corners. Place and manipulate thousands of items anywhere with complete creative freedom and make the tavern of your dreams.

Go beyond decorating and become a master artisan by using Tavern Keeper’s powerful Design Mode to craft unique furnishings. Combine pieces, add magical effects, then share your creations with the Tavern Keeper community.

Play the single-player campaign your way with adjustable game mechanics and storyteller settings or play in Freeplay for a custom challenge. Pick Challenging and strategize over every decision, barely making it through each day, or play a Relaxed game running the tavern of your dreams without pressure. The choice is yours.

For an early-access release, this game already has tons of well-developed, playable content. I thoroughly enjoyed playing through the available campaign, and now I’m having just as much fun in free play. My favorite feature is the Item Workshop, where I can create custom decorations and even fully functional furniture. There’s also already a great community, with lots of user-created décor that you can download and add to your game. The developers are incredibly responsive and actively engage with player feedback, which makes me even more excited for the full release and everything that comes afterward. I honestly can’t say enough good things about this game!
Not worth $30. The tutorial is a bit buggy. Inventory management is not the best. The NPC employees sometimes will not do what they should for example not turn on the heater when they are doing nothing and complaining it is cold. The story line is excessive and not that interesting. some of the patrons bug out and get their drink then just stand there and ruin your entire order counter until you kick them out. Staff will say they are cold while sleeping in between two turned on heaters Putting staff on at night to do multiple jobs and they will just not clean and stand around doing nothing even when highly rated cleaners. The UI is decent but not the best too many times you have to click into individuals or click out and back into things that should be linked IE: the schedule for employees does not link to operating hours. For sure not worth $30, spend $10-15. I have bought games for $10 that have their systems better built out. The biggest plus to this game is customizing the decorations however that does not have much use in game.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I used to love this game. It is great *ON PC*. I had FUN *ON PC*. I loved it so much I bought the supporter pack. But on Steam Deck, this is another game entirely: It becomes a test of patience and willingness to trudge through painful controls. The steam deck controls are so terrible. It reminds me of another game that was GREAT on deck until they 'added official controller support' and actually made the game worse. I thought I would take the time to list my major gripes in the discussion forum, but there are too many, and I don't want to waste my time more than I already did trying to play this game on steam deck. The game has not one, not two, but THREE distinct navigation modes: - MOUSE (which activates when you use the trackpad but deactivates whenever you USE the mouse) - CROSSHAIR (activates when you _move or rotate the screen_ which means touching any joystick or trackpad or bumper or trigger) and even resets your mouse position - UI NAVIGATION (which is used with the d-pad) Please just stick with one. For a game with this much UI, usually a mouse is a better option. UI navigation has some weird stack-based control where its easy for my dumb ass to get confused where I'm even allowed to navigate, or have to back up to, or drill down to, to get to certain areas. Stop showing me keyboard controls on the steam deck. Pretty sure this is enough to get downgraded to the Playable badge for steam deck verification, somehow it got through. Note to steam: Please mark this steam support 'Playable' - I've seen games with better steam deck support get the Playable stamp. these controls aren't Verified, at least according to the standards I've seen applied to other games.
x-- 8/10 --x Incredibly well made tycoon game. Loved the levels and the way the story branches.
I hate the fact that I have to decorate stuff to get high rankings. Not for me.
Right now it is unfortunately pretty short, but the bones are good. Didn't encounter many bugs and the ones I did had workarounds. The one gripe I had was the inability to train or otherwise "enhance" your employees like a lot of other games like this allow you to do, but they have that on the road map so they've already thought of it. Looking forward to additional content.
EARLY ACCESS REVIEW The Management Sim I've Been Waiting For! I’ve been following this one for a while, and even in Early Access, Tavern Keeper is already an absolute gem. It’s rare to find an Early Access title that feels this polished and complete from day one. I was hooked immediately—it’s fun, charming, and has a way of keeping your attention for "just one more day" until you look up and it’s 2:00 AM. Craftsmanship and Quality You can tell Greenheart Games put a massive amount of time and thought into this. Even though it's technically still in development, I encountered very few bugs. The mechanics are deep, the "Design Mode" is incredibly powerful, and the whole experience feels smooth and intentional. It’s a huge breath of fresh air. The Road Ahead The foundation here is rock solid. I’ve already played through the available campaign levels, and I’m genuinely excited for the rest of the content to be released. I’ll be following every update closely, and I’m 100% committed to the full version as soon as it hits 1.0. Pros: Incredibly addictive and cozy gameplay loop High level of polish with almost no bugs Professional voice acting and great writing Deep customization that lets you get really creative Cons: I finished the current content and just want more! Excellent job, devs! If you’re on the fence because it’s Early Access, don’t be. It’s already worth every penny. Keep up the amazing work!
The best management game I've played in a while! I love how you get right into being a tavern keeper, no farming or painful slow start. The characters and storyline is the cherry on top, really gets you into the fantasy world. I adore everything about the 3rd tavern <3 Just finished the story so far and I can't wait for more! Even as early access, this is 100% worth it for me
Just how you imagined being an tavern keeper in Middle Earth - cant wait for full release
