Experienced on the Meta Quest 3
You can view my gameplay & early impressions here: https://youtu.be/NptE-vnLLT8 I do think this is a solid VR puzzle game. Beware though: this isn't like Ghost Town or Red Matter. This is a puzzle game focused mostly on the puzzles. Yes, there are narrative cut scenes. So technically it is a puzzle adventure game. However, the focus on the game is on the puzzles and less so on the narrative. So you will be doing puzzle after puzzle, with only some respite in between the few cut scenes. The puzzles, at least early on, are not too difficult. However, they're definitely more challenging than the puzzles found on Red Matter or Ghost Town, at least in my opinion. The challenge slowly picks up as you try to solve the box puzzles. Yes, if you played The Room (old pancake version), you will know exactly the type of puzzle game this is. You will need to observe the box and figure out what you need to do. There will be a lot of tinkering just to try to figure out the logic. Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 5090, I was getting a steady 90 fps. You do have full locomotion, but there is no artificial turning. However, it doesn't matter because you can turn the puzzles around. You can play comfortably seated. I did find that some of the interactions involving the puzzles could have used more polish. A great puzzle game following the style of classic "ROOM" games, focusing on one "object". As a more or less experienced puzzle gamer you might take about 4 hours to beat the game. The puzzles themselves are never too hard and pretty fair - though I still have my suspicions there is some cheating going on in the final "puzzle" (just kidding). I had much fun solving the puzzles, hope we get more content, a DLC or a sequel some day.
As someone who loves puzzle games, Tammuz: Blood and Sand had my brain gears turning from start to finish. The puzzles aren’t obvious, but with some careful thought, they’re all completely solvable. The story is intriguing and kept me engaged the whole way through. What really caught me off guard was my favorite part of the game, and it’s not even a puzzle. It’s the inclusion of an ancient tabletop board game called Ur, nearly 5,000 years old. After a few rounds, I started to understand how to strategically outsmart Tammuz, and that was such a clever and fun touch. The controls and mechanics can feel a little fidgety at times, but if you’re patient, it’s easy enough to work through. Be sure to watch through the credits for a surprise. Stand in front of pedestal and solve puzzles for a 2D god. The puzzles range from pretty straight forward to I don't know what the mechanic is so I don't know how to solve it. I had to stop the last puzzle I was working on because I had to look down, even when the pedestal could be moved up and down, which with a VR headset on caused me to start getting sore in my neck from looking down. It is a fun experience to be in VR but it is also a curse. The controls could be a bit finicky at times but for the most part were fine. I recommend this if you love puzzles and want to be in VR.
Pretty fun. Tammuz is a mostly stationary puzzle game with a sort of tower of puzzles that has various segments to solve, while two gods talk to you about releasing their power and such. The puzzles are mostly just 2d sliding type puzzles which is fine but not a crazy use of VR either. I had two minor bugs but nothing major. I enjoyed it but I think it might not be for everyone.
A very good puzzle game with Egyptian fibes (for me at least). All puzzles are connected with each other. Graphics are phenomenal.
Credits rolled on Tammuz: Blood & Sand. Nice looking static box puzzler. Not too challenging, except the invisible obvious. I was invested in the 2D NPC story/banter. Some grab and placement jank but muscle memory soon avoided it. Recommended for fans of chill VR puzzlers.
Pretty fun game if you like classical puzzles.
