Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game is a refreshing departure from the action-heavy adventures typically associated with Middle-earth. Developed by Wētā Workshop and published by Fictions, the game focuses on the everyday joys of Hobbit life, placing players in the peaceful village of Bywater rather than on a quest to save the world. This slower and more intimate approach gives the title a unique identity within The Lord of the Rings universe, offering a relaxing experience centered on comfort, community, and personal expression. The game begins with the creation of a custom Hobbit who settles into a charming corner of the Shire. From the outset, the emphasis is on establishing a home and becoming part of a close-knit community. The world is filled with rolling hills, cozy cottages, gardens, and inviting pathways that capture the warmth and charm long associated with Tolkien’s beloved homeland. Rather than rushing players through objectives, the game encourages them to take their time, explore at their own pace, and appreciate the simple pleasures that define Hobbit culture. A major highlight is the extensive customization available throughout the experience. Players can personalize their Hobbit-hole with furniture, decorations, and various design choices that transform the residence into a unique home. Character customization also allows for a personalized representation of life in the Shire. These systems contribute significantly to player immersion, making daily activities feel meaningful because they directly improve the environment the player inhabits. The ability to create a cozy living space becomes one of the game's most rewarding aspects. Cooking serves as the heart of the gameplay loop and reflects one of the most important traditions in Hobbit society. Players gather ingredients through fishing, gardening, foraging, and trading before using them to prepare meals. The process is more than a simple crafting mechanic; food becomes a social tool that strengthens relationships and brings the community together. Hosting meals and sharing dishes with neighbors adds a sense of authenticity to the experience, reinforcing the game's central themes of friendship and hospitality. The attention given to food culture makes the Shire feel alive and distinct from other life-simulation games. The social systems are equally important. Building friendships with fellow Hobbits unlocks new opportunities, stories, and activities while helping the village grow and flourish. Many objectives revolve around assisting residents, participating in community events, and contributing to the prosperity of Bywater. The progression system is built around connection rather than power, encouraging players to invest in relationships and community development. This design philosophy aligns perfectly with the setting and helps create an atmosphere that remains welcoming throughout the adventure. Visually, the game succeeds in recreating a picturesque version of Middle-earth. The art direction embraces a colorful and storybook-like aesthetic that emphasizes comfort and beauty over realism. Landscapes are rich with detail, seasonal changes add variety to the scenery, and interiors feel warm and lived-in. Combined with a relaxing soundtrack and ambient environmental sounds, the presentation creates a soothing atmosphere that makes exploration enjoyable even when players are simply wandering through the countryside. While the game's cozy focus is its greatest strength, it can also be a limitation. Players looking for deep strategic systems, challenging gameplay, or dramatic storytelling may find the experience somewhat repetitive after extended play sessions. Many activities revolve around gathering resources, completing errands, and maintaining relationships, which can begin to feel familiar over time. The lack of combat and high-stakes conflict may also disappoint those expecting a more traditional Lord of the Rings adventure. However, these design choices are intentional and reflect the game's commitment to portraying the peaceful side of Middle-earth. Ultimately, Tales of the Shire succeeds because it understands what makes Hobbit life appealing. It celebrates friendship, good food, beautiful homes, and the importance of community in a way that feels genuine to Tolkien’s world. Although it may not offer the depth or excitement of larger role-playing games, it delivers a relaxing and charming experience that stands apart from most titles bearing The Lord of the Rings name. For fans of cozy simulation games and those who have always dreamed of living a quiet life in the Shire, it provides a heartfelt journey filled with warmth, comfort, and plenty of Hobbit-sized adventures. Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.71/day in the week to Jul 30 → 0.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Oyun güzel ama hikaye kısmı geliştirilmeli çünkü biraz yetersiz kalmış
I was playing this at a friend's house, and then they bought it for me so I had to start over. Accidentally speedran the game instead. Oops. I am too good at foraging and have become a god among hobbits. It's still autumn and my pantry is half full. Other things I massively appreciate: I am a they/them and no one can stop me, no one can force me into a romantic relationship ever and it's not a necessary thing to befriend other hobbits, and I can use my extensive Lord of the Rings knowledge to pinpoint when this takes place. I'm not fond of the fishing, and I'm also not interested in decorating, so I can't say much about that (besides acquiring a stove, which I can't put against a single wall in my hobbit hole). I'm here to pick up nuts and berries and mushrooms, forever.
Love this game more than i thought i would!
i love it
hatte mir mehr vorgestellt.... Ist eher ein Kindersspiel ja, das wars nur leider schon,
Charming. Pretty. Relaxing. You get to live life as a hobbit! You chat, you garden, cook your potatoes, you eat and have parties. You decorate your lovely hobbit hole and enjoy a gentle life in a beautiful community of sweet hobbits. What's not to like?
Insanely bad optimization. Struggling to reach 60 fps with around 50% GPU utilization. Changing settings barely changes performance. Somehow enabling FSR reduces performance. First time I have seen this.
