Probably the most realistic battle game I've ever played.
This is the best Civil War game made, period. Unfortunate that this did not become a more popular series, as the features, graphics, audio, and other technical foundations would have improved greatly.
I really love this game. You can micro manage every aspect of battle, or let the AI do it, and anywhere in between. I have only played it on Steam for 4 hours, but I have owned it on disk for several years. Give it a shot, you'll love it.
great milsim civil war game
I'm so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad at this game jesus christ lol.
This game works great. And i have ah super computer 10/10
i like it
Worth a second look see. I did a sheets and giggles and installed the CMP 3.0 and lo and behold it works! It is a pleasant suprise it works as well as the old one. Alot of fun. Give it go it is worth the 9.99!!!!!!!!!!!! ---------------------------------------- Piss Poor game in steam, if you have no idea of what files you need to modify, change, edit this is not for you. If you out the box game that works after starting the game , this is not for you. If you want a game just to play because of the timeline , this is not for you. I had the old game and loved it . worked great on XP and Vista with very little to do on install. STAY AWAY from this if you want to save money, time, and effort.
Well, the graphics wouldn't do for a flight simulator, but they seem more than adequate for an interesting war game designed to provide a simulated experience of commanding men in Civil War combat. What an interesting experience this provides! The words "oldie but goodie" spring to mind. And, I must say, it helps to patiently do the tutorials, before trying to save the nation.
I love that this exists, I wish there were many more games like this. Changes I would recommend for future versions are: 1. let the player play via a first-person view like in Arma (so, WASD movement and mouse-look) and give orders through the map like in Radio Commander / Radio General, 2. show every single soldier, not just 1 soldier for every 10. 3. have things actually to-scale. I discovered after playing the game a while that the stuff on the terrain (soldiers/foliage/buildings/etc.) are ~4-6x bigger than they would be in the 'real world'. And I think each minute in-game represents many 'real-world' minutes, so that the battles go more quickly. I think that was probably the correct decision when making a game but it would be nice to have the option to have things as real as possible for those players who are very interested in the immersion / experience. UPDATE: - After playing the game more, I understand why things are the way they are in terms of scale. The real engagements would stretch out over many hours, and it simply wouldn't be fun to have things move as slowly as they did in R/L. By reducing the scale of everything by ~3-10 times, they can have things move quickly enough to not get boring while still accurately modelling the dynamics of the engagements (tactics, etc). - I do still think there's an opportunity to have an interface like the one in Silent Hunter, where it's primarily in first-person with the option of third person, commands are issued via a map, and you have the option of speeding up time to get through boring bits. I think this could be a far more immersive way to experience the battles.
