About
You stumble upon the last Henki - a creature unlike any other, a shapeshifter keeping the world of Taival in balance. Together, you set out across a handcrafted blocky world to recover the shattered fragments of its lost heritage. What you find along the way will change both of you.
Taival is a co-op adventure RPG for up to 4 players where your goal is to find out who destroyed Heartstone of the Henki, restore it to its former glory and bring your companion back to where it belongs. This is a cozy yet mighty adventure you’ve never seen before.
Your Henki companion is the heart of Taival. As you encounter new creatures across the world, Henki can absorb their essence and shift into their form each one bringing a unique set of abilities to battle and exploration. A hulking beast that absorbs damage. A swift mount that scales cliffsides. A cunning predator that strikes from the shadows.
The more of the world you explore, the more forms you unlock. Master new skills and find the combination that fits your playstyle or your party's.
Taival is a handcrafted open world built from the ground up with a charming, voxel-style blocky art style. Multiple seamlessly connected realms each bring their own environments, inhabitants, and secrets from rolling highlands to dense forests and ancient ruins waiting to be uncovered.
Spread across the world are tons of quests with varying lengths. Players can help a farmer figure who stole their barrel of plants (it was a rodent), or they can assist in settling a house ownership disagreement between two goblins. The game being a cozy co-op RPG doesn’t mean the quests are only on the cozy side of things; Players can find themselves fighting a beast on a barbarian camp or doing some pest control on insects of their own size.
Taival is built for playing together. Invite up to 3 friends and journey as a full party each with their own character, companion, and skill tree. What makes Taival's co-op special: you can mix local split-screen and online players in the same session, simultaneously. One friend on the couch, two more joining from across the world all in the same adventure.
When your group faces a pivotal quest decision, everyone gets a say. You will all follow the same dialogue, letting you see each other's cursors and suggested dialogue options.
Taival's progression runs on two tracks that grow in tandem. For your character: unlock abilities, improve your combat skills, and even level up your fishing. For Henki: master new creature forms, unlock mount abilities for faster exploration, and build a companion that feels uniquely yours. The deeper you go, the more the world opens up.
Shapeshifting companion (Henki) - absorb creature forms found throughout the world, each with unique combat and traversal abilities
Handcrafted open world - multiple seamlessly connected biomes with distinct environments, inhabitants, and stories
Up to 4-player co-op - mix local split-screen and online players in the same session, simultaneously
Group quest dialogue - Follow the same quest dialogue and suggest options using your cursor
Charming voxel-style art - a handcrafted blocky world with a warm, inviting visual identity

No auto save. 5 hours of playing just got crashed. No save, no world. Again level 1 character and full rollback. --- Autosave is fixed. So, reasons why don't bother with this game: - Items don't have stats, despite you can see them on trailer. - Slow and horrible fighting system. - Just maybe 15 quests to do, all of them "find X, gather Y, kill Z". - Crafting system is useless. - There are no professions, just some small upgrades like "chance to not use ore during smelting". - Small world, it's not big, just generated and filled with mobs that are spawning on the steep mountains. - Horrible current content ending, you are kicked from main world to the bugged one, you can return but for what? - Horrible UI, no EQ sorting, new items pops up in the middle of inventory rather than at the end of the item list. And much much more... AVOID.
I've been excited to play the next big version ever since the last playtest! And so far its exeeding my expectations! They really listened to a lot of the feedback and improoved on many of the game machanics in a satisfiying way. Check it out!
A lot of this game as a solo player is spent trying to travel over a vastly empty map with irrelevant NPC's and an assortment of blood-thirsty beasts to gather loot from...except one small problem... There's little to no direction. Yes, you can pick up quests but what impact does that have? Well it causes my game to drop to 2 frames whenever we're moving between game and cutscene so maybe that? What impact do collectables have? No clue. I only just figured out a few hours in that there's SKILLTREES. Maybe it was explained, or maybe I'm just blind. A lot of the assets across the map are built with parts missing or aligned incorrectly such as the animal barn near Lantern's crossing having misaligned beams in the roof. The rendering loading in far away objects is taxing on the computer, causing intense FPS drops and stuttering, limiting me to 40fps cap and all settings on low, but this didn't stop the frames dropping to a slideshow every other interaction I made with the game environment. I don't need to see far away, but I also don't need the dock in front of me to blip in and out of existence. Hostile enemies spawning in the floor, or parts of the world generating in a strange way, such as the Clacker Cave for example there's water covering the key and preventing quest progression to collect the item fallen into the Clacker Cave. Surely someone would've seen that during playtesting. The considerable amount of game breaking bugs and glitches make progress trivial and challenging beyond favourable means. I don't enjoy the constant struggle to navigate a game that is not ready for *paid* public release. It isn't ready, and it shows. This isn't fun. Not for me. You shouldn't need a godly computer to play a game, especially not one like this.
So far I've played like 4 hours and I've had a blast! You can make your own journey and explore as you wish, complete quests as they come along or try to find hidden objects. My favourite activities so far are wall-climbing, fishing, looting, collecting hidden objects (with a help of a certain compass), exploring, acquiring new versions of the shape shifting companion. Sure it is early access and there's room for quality of life updates and bug fixes but overall I'm enjoying it a LOT ! Cheers!
pretty chill for early access
The graphics, the music, and combat all feels good. Its a tough task to make a game by hand crafting everything but they've done an incredibly good job with what they’ve built so far.Good amount of quests around the world also, will be fun to go through those.
I played the demo and had so much fun I didn't want it to end. Just played the Early Access version of the game and had a blast. There is skill leveling, Crafting, Magic, Exploration, Quests, Special collector items, and other features like fishing and a shape shifting buddy to help you along your journey. This game has it all. The mechanics are fun, the scenery is beautiful, the story quests are interesting and I can tell the devs have a good sense of humor. I can't wait to continue my journey in Taival!!
Just started playing, but this game is fantastic. Gorgeous environments, adorable creatures, rolling for days. Can't wait to dig in more!
Having a blast with this so far I’ve only played for an hour but the gameplay is already super fun and keeping me hooked controls feel smooth and responsive, it has a cool clean style reminds me of minecraft that fits the game perfectly Can't wait to play more, definitely worth checking out
