Meh at best. The mechanics get really stale, really quick. Also with the bugs and general unpolished look, it is not something I can recommend.
As an Early Access game, this looks fairly promising... Let me start of with saying, the game menu has a board which says which things are missing (which I think is fair if they plan adding those features later). Pros: +sweet sweet tearing mechanism +throwing body parts in hell pit = fun +cool slowdown time effect (insta kill?) +great locomotion and offers few moving and rotating options +love the music, really made me feel like a carnivoe Cons: -AI -story is hard to catch up if you don't pay attention to the dialogues between what I assume is my character and someone else
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers. Minor spoilers alert, nothing big I promise
So I finished the game in a little over 2 hours. I was not speedrushing, in fact, I took my time and tried to explore as much as possible. I did enjoy the game. I had fun exploring. I liked the corny dialogue / voice acting. The story and game are done tongue in cheek. The game does have some problems though. So the good is that this is a nice big world with several locations to explore. You start off in tutorial hell. Right off the bat, you can tell the humor will be ever present. Your character is a disrespectful, potty-mouthed demon with a penchant for evil fun and has an independent streak. You'll be ripping demons & humans apart. You will rip goat heads apart for sustenance ... just like Ozzy Osbourne. You can do teleport stealth kills as well. You have some demon powers (1 at the start and then 3 by the end game). At first, you'll only be able to summon a helper demon. Unfortunately, he's usually of little help and he's never needed. After tutorial hell, you'll be in a prison, then a ship, then an island, then you'll have to find a way to hell. Luckily, you have full locomotion and teleport options with smooth turning to navigate the world. You can later summon an exploding scorpion and then you can slow time. However, you don't get them until pretty late in the game. There are 3 boss fights. Well, there's really only one. There's a trick to each boss fight ... well ... major spoiler alert:
You fight Ba'al at the end and unfortunately, I don't think the fight is available yet in Early Access. I got to the fight and it just had a sign that said come back for a more epic Boss fight ... but I wasn't sure if there was anything you can do to him currently. He waves his arms in front of you, but I saw no way to damage him. I ended up going behind him and falling in the world in a loop, so I think that was the end.
I had fun traversing the world. I enjoyed the sense of humor. It's not for everyone though. The graphics are subpar and combat is too simple, easy, and repetitive. I would have loved to have been able to pick up the chainsaws along the way and slice & diced some humans / demons. There were many items that you can grab but do absolutely nothing. I would have loved if you could have at least picked up the exploding scorpions you summon and throw them at things versus them acting on their own. A fireball demon skill would have been nice as well. So this is still in EA and there's lots of room for improvement. Here's hoping it does. As is currently, I still give a tepid recommendation because of the fun factor of the experience, the sum is more than the parts in this case. Rate 6/10. Heavy metal rulz \m/
Note: I've received this game for free as a tester, but I'll be objective as much as I can. If you're searching for a next Robo Recall or a AAA VR game, then this game is not for you. But, if you're searching for a fun indie VR expirience, then look no further! THIS GAME HAS A STORY AND MISSIONS, so yeah, instead of another mini-sandbox expirience, you actually get a game with levels, boss fights and various abilities. The ripping mechanics could be improved and enemy models could benefit from some variety, but since the game is in early access, I'm pretty sure that we'll see improvements. As a metalhead, I must say that soundtrack is spot on. Did I mention that the game has a solid voice actining? Graphics are OK-ish - your typical indie Unity Engine 3D stuff, but there waren't any hickups or FPS drops. Locomotion - both teleporting and free walking :) Compared to 90% of indie VR titles, this game has a lot to offer, and the price is spot on.
6660K OC'ed to 666 666 GB Ram GTX 666 666 Vive Tp666 Demon spawn facials free. Gameplay Video: https://youtu.be/9ojEnSUbskA While very indie & certainly lacking in many areas in this gorefest demon game. There aren't many other VR games where you can rip the limbs off a man and use his torso as a bat to take down enemies. Or rip a mans head off and then use his head as a penis for the lolz. Or rip your way out of a man's stomach while viewing their tar filled lungs, still needs work and buy at your own peril. Me I love it, it's the life I'm owed and muchly deserve.
I’ve been following the development of Tainted for a while (like 5 years) and this game has changed a lot. And it’s changed in a good way. You are put in the role of a demon who tears people apart, doesn’t give a ♥♥♥♥ about anything and decides to kill his boss. The graphics are good, not AAA for sure, but it’s pleasing to look at. Some of the levels are genuinely great looking (for instance the crypt with the priests). The gameplay is the main thing here, and let me tell you, does this game deliver. You can blow guys up, tear them apart, slow down time to feel like in an action movie. It’s genuinely satisfying to tear the hands off a dude and throw them into another dude’s head. The boss fight with the crab spider dude is the highlight for me. The music is so hardcore it makes you want to just rip all the guys to pieces. The voice acting is funny. The enemies sometimes get stuck and some of the animations are a bit weird, but I haven’t seen a game in early access with this much polished content in a long time. 11/10 would throw chickens at priests again
It's crass, it's crude, but damn it's fun. Pros: +Gore +Fun story +Great soundtrack +Awesome gameplay Cons: -AI is dumb as sh*t -way too easy I was a bit put off by the graphics at first, but the game is such wonderful schlock it suits it perfectly. Hope they fix the AI and balancing while in early access. Even in its current state I recommend anyone with a VR rig to give it a try.
Ein absolut sinnloses und leider auch langweiliges brutales VR Spiel. Unser Ziel ist es, Gegnern den Kopf abzureißen und deren Gedärme zu essen. Leider gibt es zusätzlich sogar noch Glitches! can't recomend at this point. it's just not yet there. devs should have waited with EA till it's more polished. this could become good, but right now it's rather stale and boring after 5 minutes. but keep an eye on it. this could become something!
I bought this thinking it would be a standard 15$ VR game (half an hour of so-so repetitive gameplay). But it's actually a full blown single player story with awesome music, fun gameplay with special abilities, boss fights and so on. Plus has a challenge mode (they call it arena mode) which I didn't try, but I guess it's a nice addition. There's some bugs with the AI but nothing that ruins the gameplay. I'd say get this game if you want to play a VR game with a full story campaign.
