A more engaging story than I thought coming in. Glad I got it. Came here while awaiting Symbiant 2. Shout out to Mylo Reid, voice of Karim. Loved his voice and acting.
Great Art and great story! One of the good ones out there!
Has a lot of potential but the end product is quite bland. The player should have been able to edit Ian's look or at least had the option to choose different variations of outfits. The story line is a very predictable read and it doesnt have a lot of depth or uniqueness. The minor characters are perfectly fitted for a certain stereotype by the devs. There's a bad guy mcbad and theres a jerk mcjerk and theres goodie two shoes. I wish there was more versitility, the game has a lot of potential but unfortunately the whole experience was a flat line for me.
I like the BL/yaoi genre so I thought I'll give this VN a try, in spite of its title. It is a nicely steamy take on the pet cyberpunk theme of a synthetic human (biot, android, or robot) gaining self-awareness and with this, the capacity to be emotional about stuff. The story is satisfying if a bit short, the characters cute and attaching, and the soundtrack and voiceovers more than generic purpose fillers. In short, I like this VN and will certainly check out The Symbiant as well.
Amazing game. Loved all the characters. Beautiful artwork!!
Synthetic Lover is a visual novel where you take the role of an android sex doll, called a biot, who is accidentally zapped by a mysterious device that slowly makes him think and feel like a human being. And who in their right mind wants that?! So you embark on a mission to recover this strange contraption and turn yourself back into the non-thinking gay sex machine you are. The common route in Synthetic Lover is quite short, shorter than you'll find in probably most visual novels, and essentially makes for two novels in one, as your choice of romance options is very early on in the narrative. Each route has three main endings -- a romance ending, friendship ending, and a bad ending. While the three endings in a particular route share quite a bit of content, none of the content is shared between the two separate routes; they're essentially two different journeys towards recovering the device. Each route is probably 4-5 hours long, with an additional hour for the common beginning. I liked Synthetic Lover; it's an enjoyable story. The voice acting leaves a lot to be desired, so I turned that off, but otherwise I found the romance routes in particular to be pretty cute at times. I can't say I was particularly fond of the bad ends, but I feel that way in most romance novels and left them for last. *DLC patch provides uncensored, non-mosaic'd scenes.
It's difficult to achieve the diffrent endings without a guide. With it I needed ~8hrs to get all achievements. The artwork is beautiful, the voice acting is very well done and I enjoyed the storylines a lot. Totally worth full price.
I rather enjoyed this game. I've only done one route but seeing as how after that first encounter I don't even see the other character again, it feels like both routes will be very different from one another. I enjoyed the pacing and watching
Ian's
journey. The art was nice and the voice acting was solid. All-in-all, I very much enjoyed the game and am looking forward to replaying it.
