Once again i kinda trapped myself with one way and not seeking every other for points such as achievements or simple curiosity. One route was enough for me to get ~"not a perfect ending, but a happy one". Wasn't meant to be more. Like in further HCD's work, "The Symbiant", this is also a type of visual novel with occasional choices to make. These allow for different consequences. I feel its wrong to hard label this game as anything suggestive without actually trying it. Its not a standard yaoi/bl title that is usually packed with "action" and some excuse of a plot. In fact, there might not be anything too spicy at all if one doesn't start it in a specific way. This allows for more diversed exploring. And a background here is not a convenient smokescreen but actual dystopian society with all of its flavor. I don't have an entire picture here but after finishing game the way i followed i'm quite disappointed. Because "SL"'s setting is just too vast. Player can only scratch the surface of game's innate potential. Its not a bad production by any means, just too short. I felt multiple times - with and without optional dlc - that there are missing pieces everywhere, from start to finish. Since its happening even before player can choose any dialogue it has to be a development nuance. I just expect too much, especially since its HeartCoreDev's first game and they were probably not swimming in cash & resources, not to mention time. Other than that i found two problems during my gameplay. First was that certain music/ambient is not properly balanced. Some pieces are just too loud and one needs to tamper with settings just to keep it on a level. Its nothing major and rather subjective thing though. The other problem is what characters do and when. Its super easy to guess certain outcomes in time. But before that happens one is given several not-so misleading tips which may bring disappointing "game over". Can't truly trust main characters for their behaviour is quite erratic; Its there but not necessarily on time. And yeah - i'm beating around the bush to not make any solid spoilers :). I can recommend this game. It's not perfect. It's just enough.
I found this game after playing there other game ,The Symbiant, and I thoroughly enjoyed mine time with that game. I decided to give this one a chance as well. At first I was turned off by the art style but as I played the game I grew to love the look of the characters and how they fit in to the setting of the game. The story of Synthetic lover was very entertaining and I plan to finish all the achievements. Both love interest are interesting and interesting to pressure for romance as well in providing world building (I personally prefer Terrance over Bastion.). In terms of choice making I would have loved to see better way of which choice helped with the romance/friend ship/ neural routes to make it clearer which route you were currently on. The voice acting in the game was superb! I only ever encounter a small audio bug during my Terrance play-thought but it was so minor I barely noticed it. The music as well was exquisite to listen to as I played thought the story. Sadly now as I find my myself nearing the end of my time with Synthetic Lover, I can't help but wish there was more. I wish there was a route where you could romance both Terrance and Bastion and see what would come of that and would love to see it as possible DLC for the future and maybe even some after stories like they are doing with their other game. All in all I had an amazing time with Synthetic Lover and I'm happy I gave it chance after all. I will be recommending this to friend who also like spicy BL VN as BL Detroit becoming human. I look forward to more from this studio in the future.
A good story, lovable characters, and a decent enough ending. Fully voice-acted which I really enjoyed. I liked this a lot, it was immersive and inspiring. Definitely a good game for any fan of light romance.
it's a really good bl
I quite enjoyed the world-building a lot since I'm a sucker for futuristic utopia/cyberpunk settings, so I wish this was more fleshed out as a story with perhaps more romance interests (such as Karim!). But it's a very solid BL game overall with good art and good music.
love it
The voicing is absolutely great! The plot is more interesting than I expected, the gaming studio seems to be really on fire. I do enjoy the game greatly. The characters are also very well-written!
