Recommended for anyone who likes the ghosts and goblins style of game without the insane difficulty. Sure, I died a few time on certain bosses and stage, and that was great, I worked out the best plan of attack and got through them. There are 50 main stages plus the final boss world with a few extra stages plus the boss battle. Now, when I rate something, I *always* take price into account. I paid a BUCK for this. One AU dollar. As you can see I got 5 hours of enjoyment for that dollar, and I did 100% the game. I liked it enough that I wanted to make sure it was absolutely 100%. There are two endings btw, a good and bad ending, and you can be fooled to think the bad ending really is the end of the game. Just have a look around the map is my advice;) Controls were tight, there was multiple magic power ups to buy and abilities like double jump. This is the sort of stuff I really like, when you can add power to the character. BTW my time with it does include grinding the first 10 levels about 10 times each for money so I could upgrade some abilities further. If you want to 100% it, you have to do all that anyway. If you are happy with the "bad" ending, a seasoned action platform player can get through the 50 levels in half an hour, as the levels are very short (which is another thing I like, ZERO long droning levels. So if you die, having to do the entire level again has never been as little of an issue as it is in this game). Graphics and sound? Well, GFX are actually pretty decent for the retro pixel action platform genre, with nice colouring and detail, but I can't remember any parallax scrolling which I am a sucker for. Had it not been a budget title, that would have been a fair complaint. There are a couple catchy tunes but the sound does sort of get repetitive. Again, I am judging it by the price tag as even RRP is fair for what you get, and the fact I enjoyed myself enough NOT to put it down but to complete it to perfection. Add in the good controls (I used a bluetooth controller) and we have a little winner here.
A simple game that plays like an old game and has a few faults of an old game, but I like it. It is meant to be that way and I like the charm and artstyle. The music is also well made and fits the style of game. It is a ghosts and goblins type of game, but because of the short level segments and no lives, makes it much easier and fun to play through! You should farm some coins for items at first, to get some of the very essential basic abilities, but you could get all of them by simply farming in the first level if you wanted. It is challenging, but fair and I enjoyed playing through it, though it is short. It is cheap too though, and if you like it, you can always purchase the sequels, as there are multiple games with the same concept! Not much to say about it, just a nice little throwback!
It´s short and fun. It requires a bit of farming to get the true ending, but it´s just about 20 minutes.
Came across this and after reading the reviews thought I would give it a chance, glad I did. Started playing it and before I knew it an hour went by. Keyboard and controller friendly, retro style, unlimited continues, all around great game. Two thumbs up.
