Swords and Sandals Crusader Redux

Conquer the realm is unplayable because of a bug that turns the map into a black screen if an enemy besieges your castle. The only thing you can do after that is quit. I would only recommend this if you just want to play through the campaign.

Too many technical issues and bugs. The game has multiple bugs and is basically unplayable in most gamemodes. During my 26 minutes of playtime I encountered 2 instances where ai glitches out and deletes all of your army with zero losses because you have more than 1 battle in the turn. Additionally UI glitches out almost constantly, forcing you to restart the game every time, and with no manual saves, this really does make this game extremely irritating. This product simply has too many technical issues. Since this game has been out for more than 5 years now, I expect it will never really be fixed. So I can't by all means recommend it. If you are really curious, then go play the original flash game, despite it's age it's still more playable than this.

Positive points: It's a more optimized/less glitchy version of the original game, the map and the mechanics that existed before are more balanced, polished and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Negative points: They removed fast travel from the map (why?), you can't manually manage the armies you transfer to protect lands (why? these bots always manage to lose even when you spend an extra thousand of gold compared to your enemy) and the ability to deploy crusaders is cool but completly broken and unbalanced (level max crusaders barely ever miss a dodge and sometimes can take on a full colosus while being a FREE TROOP)

(very long Review coming up) I am going to be brutal honest with this game and I will compare it to the old version. Before I start I have to say that as a person who played thousands of hours of strategic games I loved the first crusaders, actually I loved it too much and when I saw this version, I thought this version would be the same but way better... but I was wrong Crusaders Redux is dissapointing... I wanted to love the game (and I did for the first couple of hours) since I played the first version, I did not even wanted to play the campaign which I know in my guts that it will be the same as before. So I did my own campaign of conquering Brandor with every single leader and that was the only fun part... until reading how every single ruler having their TERRIBLE endings, the only person who have a good ending is the antares... what a joke. crusaders redux has bugs that first crusaders didn't have, these bugs would not be a big problem if the game just had a save mechanic. Like come on, not able to save? in this year? or the year that this game made? annoying. win/lose screen was way cooler but I have to say the talking before fights are cool there are a lot lore there which I liked it The game actually did something really good from the old one and it's XP mechanic, god I love the new one. It's much better than the old one and if they kept doing good choices like in XP mechanics the game would be way better The fight mechanics can easily be exploited like the first version Light soldiers are literally useless and no need to buy it at any point, this could be easily fixed if game didn't allow us to buy knights in early game or like give it to certain rulers Knights are too op TOO op I buy 40 of them and no need to buy anything else like they one shot castle walls and leaders like AI can't do anything against a huge number of knights In old version the most OP units was archers who I used to max them and just destroy everything but in this game they are actually good balanced (if you do not max them again which game does not give you 3 points anymore so it's balanced to me) Cavalry? meh they are decent I have nothing to say to that. You can just say "well then do not exploit it" yeah I would agree if the AI does not attack me with 1 archer and then use a op magic to kill 10-20 of my units like the witch helping? so strong that I have to always go with huge armies or the witch just destroy my army instantly (Most of the time I still lose to the witch) Also the AI is stupid when I attack with 40 knights and the AI thinks that "it's a good time to send my leader" and die while having a god tier army behind... I really don't know if the original or redux crusader is better so I will say for campaign play the original for the endings and other stuff play this version for me both of the games had good potential but unfortunate. 6/10

Funny reboot of a game I loved as a child. It's a little silly. If you've played the original, I can recommend getting it on a sale and just giving it a try. I think it's a little expensive for how many bugs are still present within the game. Hesitantly recommend.

if you level up at the end of a mission, you won't get the stat point and power point. also, there are level caps in campaign. worst part is scared troops/morale deserters are instant and permanent loss to your army
