The game tries to mix a college slice-of-life plot with a murder/intrigue plot, and fumbles it. Also this game really needed more proofreading. By the end of the game there's an error every sentence or so.
dev who deserves 0 trust, invalid keys and does not give replacement, knowingly ignores that it is his duty to give replacements.
A fun anime game with multiple endings. Good mix of music based on the action you are taking or a specific event. Different characters you can interact with. Quizzes you can take about history, warfare, etc. Skip dialogue option if you already gone down same path. Over 10 save slots to try different choices and get certain endings. Only downsides is if you are a 100% achievement player, it can take multiple runs to get the fall in love achievements.
A decent enough visual novel that actually managed to keep my attention which is not what I can say for most of them.

The storyline is a bit short for my tastes but I did enjoy playing. I recommend giving it a go but don't expect too much character development or depth as it was a bit too short. It was definitely enjoyable and had some fun moments.
It feels a bit overpriced based on my playtime. But it's mostly alright during a steam discount. There's plenty of choices that you can choose. I was done with everything after 4 hours or so. The art style is quite nice, but it's not amazing. Even the audio felt very average to be honest. I enjoyed the story a lot, though. It was great. That's probably the main selling point indeed. It's one of the better visuals novels out there. Steam has a lot of bad ones, this one is neat. And I simply have to give it a positive review. The main negative is probably the base price. But other than that, It's a well worth it game.
Court et facile, un roman simple et sans chichi
I'm having very mixed feelings about this, as I get the impression that the writers attempted to create something interesting and unique but ended up with trouble to realize the initial concept. The premise and prologue are very intriguing, the concept seems exciting and I had the impression that a lot of thoughts went into the world-building after reading the Codex. However when the actual "mission" started, the genre just turned into normal slice-of-life and all of the suspense and urgency suddenly disappeared. Especially the romance felt incredibly unfitting and forced, not only is it extremely rushed and undeveloped (you can literally romance characters after knowing them for two days) but it's additionaly simply out of character for Asumi, considering her situation. The characters by themselves are pretty decent though, the dialogues feel rather awkward at times, but I found them likable regardless. I believe the plot would've been great if the romance got left out and instead there were more scenes of Asumi actually doing something to progress with the mission. Also I would've loved some more lore input, flashbacks or maybe some perspective changes to other relevant characters (such as Kami or the culprit) or anything similar to strenghten the mystery and tension. It's especially sad because the few actual action and suspense scenes are quite entertaining, the potential was definitely there. Altogether I still liked the general story, though I find it disappointing that a huge amount of it turned into boring and out of place slice-of-life, together with lack of depth in the writing. I did however quite enjoy the music and atmosphere, as well as the premise and world-building presented in the Codex. I'm mainly giving it positive ranking based on the fact that I bought it for less than a euro; it's a fun little experience but I cannot recommend it without at least 80% discount.
Sword of Asumi is one of the first VNs from Dharker Studios. It's a relatively short VN that feel more like a slice of life school story than adventures of a teenage assassin. The protagonist of this game is a young orphan assassin girl aiming to achieve recognition, and in effect, 'company' promotion by finding and eliminating the leader of enemy faction. Aside the brief prologue, you'll spend the whole time attending lessons at the elite school you have joined and socialising with its inhabitants. The numerous choices offered to you will lead to one of several endings. Despite being an assassin, this is not an action VN. The socialising part is the main attraction and there is little else. It can safely be classified as slice of school life with some romance and a little bit of drama on top. Don't expect too much and you might even enjoy it. The writing is about average. There is some character development but not enough to truly flesh out the characters. Reasoning and relations feel superficial. Not enough time passes in the story to find the relationships believable. There are traces of a wider world building but not enough to really explain the events. I certainly seen worse, more boring writing but the one here feels lacking as well. Events leave little to no impact on the reader. No emotional charge behind them. Too sterile. The character art is at best average. Not very detailed or colourful but considering the budget it's acceptable. Could be more character sprites and emotion variants. Same for the number and quality of CGs. Average at best. There are several music tracks. The opening song is pretty good but I feel like it was overused a bit. The rest of music is ok. It doesn't take from or add much to this VN. Except the main song it's forgettable. No bugs encountered. Overall, this is mostly a short slice of school life VN with little action, average art and fine music. I can safely place it in the middle of a scale. 5/10
