Puzzle Quest: Galactrix

Honestly can't recommend this game. Like the original Puzzle Quests it has a good storyline, interesting characters, RPG elements, crafting, and the whole smear to keep you engaged and playing....BUT.... It plays terribly on PC. I'm an older gamer who loves the older games that I grew up with, so my PC has a lot of programs and apps to make old games work, even when they shouldn't. I've tried everything I could think of, read, or watch to make the game stable and playable on PC, but it keeps randomly crashing. Funny thing is, it works perfectly on my Steam Deck, and seems to be the only thing, Steam-wise, that the game is truly stable and playable on. But most players don't buy games on Steam that can only be played on, now, a thousand dollar Steam OS handheld. As a PC game it's nearly non-functional and completely unstable. Only a worthwhile and enjoyable experience on the Steam Deck. PC players; to quote a wise man; It's dead, Jim.

EDIT: Having finished the game, I must amend my original review slightly: It is not as bad as my initial impression of it was. I did manage to get to grips with the new hex-based grid with 6 directions of gravity, but as some other reviewers have stated, this system seems to be much more random and dependent on luck. While at parts I did have fun with it, the gameplay became rather samey even for a match-3, and unlike actual space trading/exploration games, running between the same places got boring quickly. I didn't even really need to grit my teeth that much, except for the random crashes, which remained an issue throughout. As such, I still refuse to recommend the game UNLESS you have a ton of patience and get it on sale. Maybe you got a different rig, and it won't crash as often as mine did... Game seems intriguing but you're not sure about dealing with the constant crashing? Get the DS version... I don't think Nintendo would have allowed them to sell the game if it kept crashing this bad, even though I hear the DS version has its own quirks. Original: Can't really recommend this one. The first two Puzzle Quests were great fun, but this one tries to reinvent the wheel and just ends up making the gameplay more complex, less intuitive and less enjoyable as a result. Especially aggravating are the time-limited Gate puzzles that you'll end up doing again and again and again, if you want to get anywhere in the galaxy. I'll try gritting my teeth and finishing it, but I highly doubt this will rack up the hours its predecessors did... And if it does, I fear that'll be because of the annoying gameplay mechanics. + The basic match-3 gameplay remains as addictive as ever, despite the extra complexities which require some getting used to + It is nice to have a Sci-Fi tale, even if lackluster - Art, graphics and UI workable but uglier than predecessors - Plot and writing is rather trite and uninspired. Sure, it wasn't that great in the first one, but this one was worse. - Minigames are less fun (Mining, Crafting, Haggling so-so, Rumors get annoying and Gatehack is frustrating) - Information difficult to find, all lore needs to be separately obtained through a minigame which gets annoying - Random crashes to desktop will screw you over multiple times Buy on sale if you absolutely want to play this, NOT worth the full price.

Win 10/11 users: Right click windows icon -> run enter the following and confirm: OptionalFeatures.exe Windows Features should be opening Select "Legacy Components" Check "Directplay" "OK" I reinstalled galactrix after that, and disabled steam overlay, just in case, boom, works.

Plante régulièrement, pas possible de faire plus de 10min de partie.

I like this a lot more than the main line puzzle quest. There's more to do and the gravity angle makes the actual puzzles more interesting for a while. It will get repetitive long before you finish the game, but it's worth a look anyways.

Sometimes I'll die on the first turn because the AI gets a massive combo. Genius gameplay!

Spanish: Este juego lo tuve en PS3 y me gusto porque es como un Tetris pero mas avanzado. En la informacion de idiomas del juego dice que esta en ingles y spanish no disponible, sin embargo al empezar a jugar todo esta en spanish, deberian actualizar la informacion del juego porque si tiene otros idiomas ademas del ingles.

Game crashes constantly on Windows 11, apparently it runs on .net 3.5 runtime so it's old and buggy
