One of the best story and political based games I have ever played. 10/10

Suzerain is kind of a mixed bag. As for positives, the presentation is competent. And Sordland and the other nations of its fictional setting are interesting to read about, even though the real world inspirations are usually extremely obvious. Where it fails is as a game. The player has very little actual agency. As far as political expression goes, there is the "correct" path which matches the developers views, and about three alternate paths. Syncretism is not possible; you are punished for taking "inconsistent" positions that don't fit neatly into one of the preconsidered paths. What is playing Suzerain actually like? You are put in the role of the president of a nation facing many crises. You can't take action on any of them until one of your advisors, by the story's script, decides to give you a liberal lecture about that specific issue. At which point you get to choose to accept or reject their proposal. The economy is in shambles, leftists and rightists are fighting in the streets, and a neighbouring power is openly preparing an invasion, yet I can't address anything other than some random minister's pet project.

Suzerain's political landscape is intriguing, but dialogue is stilted, dialogue options are poor, and characters feel wooden. There is no sense of time as events progress and the limitations imposed by the dialogue heavy approach make themselves felt.

Best political VN out there.

빙글빙글 얼렁뚱땅 타협과 신념 사이의 줄타기 예술을 보여줘야 하는 게임. 미쳐버린 팽창주의 초강대국이 국경 너머에서 당신을 노려보고 있고, 나머지 이웃들도 각자 당신과 국익을 위한 줄다리기 협상을 준비하고 있습니다. 동시에 국내 경제는 시대에 맞지 않는 제도와 불황에 고통받고 있고 비단 경제 뿐만이 아니라 보건, 교육, 교통 등 대대적인 개편을 필요로 하는 목소리가 높아지고 있습니다. 불만에 찬 보수파, 자유주의자, 극우 민족주의자, 심지어 소수민족 분리주의자와 공산주의자들이 각자 당신의 자리를 노리고 있다는 사실도 빼먹을 수 없겠군요. 아, 그냥 당신을 쏴버리는 걸 선호할 수도 있겠네요. 하지만 그럼에도 대통령은 당신이죠. 그들이 아니라. 그건 '아주' 많은 선택지를 주죠, 그렇지 않나요? 행운을 빕니다.
