I was gifted this game by the dev to test/stream and I loved the game. We found some bugs but a new update is coming out tonight. I really liked the map night. There will be a driving school added to help people learn the mechanics of driving better... which I know I need, but once I got comfy with drifting I got way better in the game! I can't wait to unlock more cars and improve my racing skills! Thank you!
Fun, cute, colorful top down racer that loosely reminds me of RC Pro AM (NES). The Good: smooth gameplay, fun/upbeat music, three difficulty modes, lots to unlock. Time Bomb mode is quite the spin on your standard time attack mode 😆 The Meh: There's no menu or the like that explains controls. It's easy to figure out. Controlling the car--best via analog stick--takes a moment to get used to, but once you get it, it's easy. The Not So Good: some of the computer controlled opponents in Power Mode cheat worse than the original Super Mario Kart, which makes for spicy gameplay 😆 Overall, a fun racing experience. Definitely looking forward to the final version! Great work, man!!!
simple fun racing game
For me, it hits al the right buttons. Fast-paced, entertaining races, power-ups, various game modes, a good dose of humour and a touch of chaos. The music isn’t quite my cup of tea, but it suits the game well. It’s much more fun with a gamepad. Although it’s ‘only’ in Early Access, there’s already a decent selection of tracks and cars. I’m looking forward to seeing what else is in store.
Super Power Racing has been a blast—especially if you’re into those classic top-down retro racers like I am. The visuals nail it with a clean, colorful look, and I love that you can race in different conditions (day/night, sun/rain), with puddles building up and messing with your race line. The best part, though, is how everything feels smashable: you’re constantly plowing through cones, signs, fences, this game just fully embraces chaos haha. Besides traditional races, there are powerup races Mario Kart-style, a mode where you have to run over zombies, and a frantic checkpoint mode where a bomb on your roof is ticking down. The controls are super straightforward, and for me the power-drift is where it gets addictive: once you get comfortable, you start pushing harder and harder until a wall reminds you you’re not invincible. Throw in hype music and an announcer cheering things on, and it’s hard to stop playing “one more race.” As any other EA game, there are a few quirks, but nothing major, and with 7 track variants and 6 cars already (plus big expansion plans), I’d recommend it without hesitation.
Was granted a beta copy, to help promote the game. On paper, it activates my nostalgia sensor, as the top down perspective reminds me of old racing classics such as Micro machines V3, and Kirby Air Ride's TOP DOWN MODE. Nostalgia aside, graphcis looks relaitively clean, has a colorful Japanese inspired aesthetic. However there are a few control issues that i ran into during my brief time lpaying this game. For starters, thestar boost was very finnicky to work, perosnally, a slightly larger window, might be more beneifical in regards to working a start boost. I had also seen some of the vehicles, very slow yo charge a drift boost. Spent an entire race, unable to charge one. Do not not know if it was a bug, or just by design. third, if you lose a race in season, it shows a blank screen, i originally thought it was a soft lock or bug, but it ejected me into the menu afterwards. a possible "Try again" message may be a good idea finally, there was a slight display bug, when the game assumed i won, but in reality took third place. overall, slightly rough around the edges. Looking forward to seeing the game slightly more polished. And with a bit of dedication, and possibly maybe more course varity, it may be a good couch play or hot seat party starter overall, 3.5 out of five Rubber Chickens (australian game review show joke)
Fantastic skill-based Mini Micro-style racing game featuring interactive environments, weapons & powerups, and awesome drift-style racing. I really love the special missions. Tons of fun. Fun game! While the 2D graphics are a little unassuming, there's a lot of love and charm in this game that you can feel right away. The gameplay is a bit on the harder side but it is clearly by design, and I was really impressed by the little touches in this game. Looking forward to playing more.
Loved the game. Extremely well made. Just the arcade racing experience i was looking for. The AI cars race very well. The destructibles on the track are very unique & add to the racing fun. Game offers various modes to play which I enjoyed. If you love racing you have to get this game.
You're in the mid 90s. The room is dark but lit up by the flicker of your CRT TV. With a hot chocolate and a cozy blanket with the game's beeps and boops performing a symphony of nostalgic comfort. This is how it felt booting up Super Power Racing, a great callback to top down arcade racing games with even some spice of its own. From the fast speed, the crunchy sound design when you nail the boosts, the collisions, and the powerup sounds as well as the music it is very satisfying to successfully pull stuff off in this game. The mission variety of Season 1 has set a very promising foundation so far, bringing forth objectives like standard races, power up races and running over zombies as fast as you can within a time limit which is a fantastic first impression on what the future seasons may bring in fully committing to the fun arcade feel and I like the variety of vehicles like the Whippy the variety of playstyles and the unlocks are very satisfying. I'm very excited to see the future of where this game goes. Mechanically it brings a addictive balance of easy to pick up but hard to master, from the various types of vehicles like drift and draft to the strength of boosts and the difficulty of the Ai, I still keep coming back to try to better my laps, learn the racing lines, etc. Drift especially is a very high risk high reward type of vehicle and with this game having plenty of achievements and unlockables there is great incentive to try everything and there is a good amount to sink your teeth into, especially for the generous price and the dev is very passionate about updates, feedback and adding more content, and also finding/fixing the bugs. This game has a bright future ahead and racing game fans are gonna want to keep an eye on this one! I played this on Steam Deck both in Handheld and Docked and the game works wonderfully there also. I will be playing this often in my spare time.
