This is neat little throwback racer that mixes classic 90's top down games like Micromachines and Death Rally and adds different race modes including powerup races with Mario Kart/Wipe-out type powerups. This is clearly a solo dev passion project where there's a big focus on what made those classic games fun. There's a fast kinetic feel to the racing, with destructible objects, big jumps and track hazards like water and oil that you'll have to avoid or account for. There's a optional driving school that will teach you the basics and reward you if you finish all lessons or you can go straight into the main modes. There's a career mode to go through and and arcade mode to just play whatever you want if you just want to try out a mode/track etc. Presentation is also very 90's with pixel graphics and those 90's racing music that took me back in a good way. And tracks feel varied in theme with nice set dressing. And it has a very clear and colorfull pallet where I never got confused where to go and it has the right view distance to act on dangers and turns. All in all a neat little indie power race package priced well and a fun love letter to the arcade powerup racer genre, which we sadly don't see a lot anymore these days.
A top down racer with lots of influences and nods to many past classic racing games such as Super Cars 2, Carmageddon, and it even remind me of Big Red Racing. Simple and great fun. It has car unlocks, boosts, weapons, humour and zombies. You can tell it's a real passion project for the solo developer.
If you are a fan of top down racing games this is the game for you! Super fun fast action with drifting also many modes of play and many more to come! Fantastic independent game dev and a hell of a cool guy check him and his game out you wont be sorry! Tell him Rattling Robbie sent ya!
Fun gameplay, great music and loads of content already that makes the current price point a steal. The game really nailed the old school top down racing gameplay perfectly. My only two gripes with the game are; -No in-game controller mapping options. (Which isn't so bad since steam's controller mapping gets the job done.) [strike] -the window to get a turbo boost at the start of the race seems a bit tight compared to other racers with similar gimmicks. [/strike] Both of those problems are nowhere near enough to ruin the game. I still fully recommend it. Edit: The recent update made the turbo start window a lot more fair on top of a bunch of other great QOL improvements. This game keeps getting better with each update!
