It's always tough to take a chance on an "unknown" game. If you are a platformer junkie like I am, take that plunge. This is a good one.
Makes me think I'm back in 1990 playing Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario World.
What a fun throwback! Lillymo games has had some great releases lately.

A wonderful ode to 2D platformers of the 16-bit era. Definitely inspired by Mario World with the right amount of flavor from other classics like Donkey Kong Country. Charming graphics, characters and baddies, with a storybook style plot. The right amount of challenge when playing through the levels, but you can dig deeper with collectables and secrets. Definitely worth your time and money.
There is a lot to like with this game, espeically if you like old school 2D platformers. The update to the graphics is really cool and the core mechanics of running and jumping are good and pixel perfect. The majority of the levels are fun and a shout out to the really fun minecart levels which vary things up nicely. I do have some issues though. I understand it's a old school platformer which are known to be difficult but sometimes I think it is unfair, there were a few instances where there were jumps I wasn't sure how to do without taking damage. For example, in one of the later levels there was a jump over a spike with spikes overhead too and I had no idea how you were supposed to do the jump without taking damage on the ceiling of spikes, it was very frustrating. I even checked the controls again to make sure I wasn't missing some dash ability. Another issue is when your character is fully powered up, if you initiate a sprint you also throw a whisk at the same time which sometimes results in you throwing a whisk which kills an enemy you have to jump on to reach the next platform, therefore making the jump impossible because the enemy has been killed. Finally I found it frustrating how I always had to listen to the boss speak every time before a boss battle when I reattempted it, first time fine but it was annoying how I had to watch it every single time, that's just a small quality of life issue though. Despite those minor complaints though I really enjoyed this and it's another banger from Lillymo, runs great on Steamdeck too.
Fun classic 2D platformer made by Lillymo Games. This was my first Lillymo game and what better way to start then with a remake of their first ever game. Pros: - Tight snappy controls - Nice looking pixel graphics - Tons and Tons of secrets in every level Cons: - Not much diversity in the levels (Very samey looking and no world themes besides general baking asthetic) - Massive difficulty spike after Level 40 (Level 41-50 were brutal) - Some QoL issues (Can't skip cutscenes, cheap kills in certain levels) Overall I enjoyed the game, but wish there was more thought in the world and level design. Worth a pickup especially when on sale.
Fun platformer, fairly challenging but overall fair. Lots of secrets and nice ideas, especially late in the game
Pretty good 2d side scroller action platformer, although a bit on the difficult side mostly because... ...this game has the mega man 7 effect- the sprites are big so it severely limits fov, and to make up for this there's much more camera movement. If the sprites w ere smaller so I could see more of the level in screen I'm 100% positive I would've loved this game. I DO like it but that one issue is a big one for me. The other issue is most of the music is very...just kinda there. Mostly just bleeps and bloops instead of some well orchestrated NES style music. There's also some tracks that are just a bassline with some bloops which reminded me of that awful Bible Adventures game on NES. Achievements are pretty good and I'm glad there's a lot of them. This game could easily do 100+ which may have make me okay a little longer but I beat the game so I'm good. Either way I'm now a fan of these devs and rip love the doggo too.
Nice pixel graphics, interesting little story, music is nice but gets repetative quickly, very inspired 2d platformer, gets annoyingly difficult after the first few levels (especially the water level), minecart level was fun, this will only appeal to 40+ y/o who love NES games
"Super Perils of Baking" is an action platformer game. It doesn't really fit solely one category but as a general genre it's a platformer. It's much more than that though... While the controls are simple, there are countless mechanics which make this game fun! From the basic jump, to traversing while holding onto a balloon, to altering gravity and then some! It does a good job to remind us of the classics we grew up with, or introducing them to the younger generations. With its storybook style and crazy plot, is perfect for everyone! It has kept some unfair elements and cheap deaths but, it's modern, smooth and hot right out of the oven^^ It will bring back all those raging feelings you are familiar with or it will create them for the first time for you. It remains fair and requires practice! There is a new trick every so often and the adventure seems to have no end! I'm not even sure you want to reach the ending... I do have good news for you though! With an NG+ mode, it doesn't have to end! You can also unlock and play new characters for even more flavor^^ Throphies, achievements and an abundance of collectibles will contribute to its replayability as well. It's bound to keep you busy for quite some time to do everything. I really like how it has so many different enemies, hurdles and dangers to overcome. It's not dull for a single moment! The soundtrack is entertaining, the controls responsive and it requires precision, along with patience and practice. The cute pixel art fits nicely and makes it more colorful.
