Super difficult precision platformer. Minimalistic and extremely entertaining with plenty of different mechanics to keep you on your toes and different modes for replayability. Retro but neatly fresh. https://youtu.be/lDG-ezci_Mk
Super Mega Zero is another precision platformer/puzzler that comes with a few twists and fresh ideas. You control Zero, a number that wants to find its love. Two skills, jump and dash, aid it in this mission. The trick is that they can’t be used until Zero collects a yellow numeral that equals the number of times you can use either of them. To make things a little easier to track, zero transforms into that number. These yellow digits are always there and won’t run out. The only thing to pay attention to is the digit itself; they don't stack, and if you inadvertently run into a lower number, you'll lose your charges. And this is just world 1. New gameplay mechanics are gradually introduced during the stages: plus and minus for modifying gravity, legs that change the game into a pure platformer and recharge the ability as soon as you touch the ground, switches that remove one sort of wall, and so on. Each world brings something new and stages are more like puzzles than platforming difficulties, if that makes sense. You'll unlock world 1 and so on in a linear order after making some progress through world 0, which serves as a tutorial. The game has ten worlds, each with twenty stages, which means there’s quite a lot content here. Each stage features special collectibles called "Pi" that add to the challenge but don't unlock anything, as is common in games like these. The other twist is a shoot’em-up section you get to play after every 10th stage and in the final boss stage. It might appear simple because defeated enemies frequently drop powerups that allow you to shoot in all four directions and collected PIs act as additional guns, but these maze-like stages force you to make quick decisions due to the huge number of incoming obstacles. Death is a staple of the genre, and things are no different here. However, I found that it’s not as punishing as other entries in the genre. The death counter for each completed stage is what I'm missing. There's no way to know which stages were completed without deaths when you choose them from the menu. You'll have to memorize or replay all the stages if you're into no-death runs. Got one bad news for people who like to make a lot of screenshots; pressing F12 crashes the game. You’ll still make the screenshot, but unfortunately there’s a second huge inconvenience attached to it. If you keep playing stages one after the other without returning to the main menu, you’ll lose all the progress you’ve made during the current playing session. In my case, this meant an entire world lost. It turns out that while progress does not autosave with each completed stage, it does so when you return to the level select menu.
Muy bueno, muy entretenido, adictivo (no pude parar de jugar). Falta que se haga más conocido para que alguien pueda mostrar el cómo hacer todos los niveles, o algun speedrun sin morir. Muy bien hecho, buena música; sublime.
Absolute juicer content. Playing it with self-imposed challenges (e.g. deathless world) makes it even better. Easy to pick up and a LOT of content for the pricepoint.
10/10 Level design, música, dificuldade, tudo perfeito! Joguei tentando passar os mundos sem morrer nenhuma vez e o desafio fica muito melhor. Se você curte plataforma de precisão, só vai. Varias mecânicas diferentes e divertidas. Recomendo 100%!
Fun game that's easy to quickly pick up and play. It has a retro feel with a great soundtrack! There's neat little intermissions that break up the jumping portions.
A game that plays with the well established meatboy-platformer. A bunch of neat ideas sprinkled in the entire game. The main game itself is not very hard compared to meatboy or the end is nigh even with the added difficulty of collecting all of the π coins. Though I must say the difficulty in the bonus levels are on par with the hardest levels of meatboy(if I remember correctly). I would say the difficulty spike in the main game > bonus levels is a bit too steep to the point where it's a completely different game. I suppose that might be the point. The most interesting levels were the ones that mix up the abilities of the 0. Adapting to the change in how the 0 moves was by far the best part of this game and I hope there were more levels with that mechanic. I am very much looking forward to bonus levels/a new game. I don't know if it's coming, but I hope it does. I think this game has a lot more potential to be fun/interesting without being insanely difficult. But then again, I have never created a game so I might just be wrong. Also, I never got used to the spaceship movement in the non-bullethell-levels. And the wavy 0 was a bit hard to control too. It was hard to tell where it was going to go and how far it was going to go. I ended up just mashing the dash button so it didn't wave so much :P
Quick Score: 3/5 Notes: -Decent audio/visuals -Very low difficulty overall outside of the bonus stages -Levels design in general is kind of bland and forgettable -The shmup sections are truly terrible and feel like they were just added in to try to spice the game up a bit, but they are by far the worst and most boring stages.
More fun than playing with real numbers! Tight platformer with well thought out mechanics and nice easy to digest levels broken up by fun shoot em up sections. Nothing too insanely hard as of yet, but a fair challenge that is sure to be fun for a kids and adults alike. Easy to pick up and play in short bursts! I would recommend!
Good game. Buy the game anyway, just so they can make the sequel to the Wizard and the slug.
