About
A mystery is afoot: your crush has gone missing at Sunset High. Worse, they texted you last night. Even worse? You’re stuck in a time loop. Dive into this narrative-driven, 2D, choose-your-own-adventure as you rewind and fast-forward through the chaos of high school life.
“'Turnip Games has crafted something special here—a quiet, introspective journey that proves you don’t need a big budget or complex mechanics to tell a powerful story. Sunset High is a reminder that sometimes, the most meaningful adventures happen in the places we least expect.” -
"Sunset High is just so unapologetic in everything it decides to do, and it’s hard not to love that" - LootLevelChill
"The writing in this game is impeccable" - The Nerd Chat
Sunset High is a 2D, story-rich, choose-your-own-adventure game set to release in 2025. Get to the bottom of the mystery by playing students against each other, rewinding your decisions, and leveling up the protagonist's inner personas as you navigate the cliques and social dilemmas of being a student trapped in a time loop. As you loop, change the course of the timeline as you explore different outcomes all in the service of the mystery. Enter the halls in this narrative-driven, noir.
See how the medium of video games can push narratives in places unexpected. Become the detective, figure out where K_____ is, see how your choices matter, and play with all the interesting mechanics which tie with each other thematically to create ludonarrative resonance.
What better way to solve a mystery than being able to rewind your actions and witness what could have been if you had asked that question instead of the one you chose? Our rewind system is fully integrated and lets you rewind as long as you want in order to see how the consequences of your actions play out differently. Not happy with an outcome? Rewind and see how the consequences change.
Conversely, being stuck in a time loop can be tedious. Control the flow of time and fast forward to critical moments of the game in order to see the butterfly effect of your actions. Become a time lord.
No one really knows anyone do they? The way you think about yourself will never be the same as how a stranger views you, or your best friend, or your parents. Perhaps we are a multitude of individuals living as one. Develop your detective persona as you listen to a particular voice inside your head to help crack the mystery. Level them up & unlock more opportunities to interact with the world.

Get to know your fellow students, each of which representing one of the cliques that run the halls of Sunset High. Ambrose the Nerd, Ava the Prep, Bobby the Slacker, Bronwyn the Jock, and Dee the Punk. All with their own personalities, wants, and desires.

"One thing that really rubbed me the wrong way, though, were the Steam reviews. Almost all of them praise the game like it's the best thing since sliced bread. Yet, nearly all are from brand-new, private accounts with no review history."

"Buggy, sometimes freezes, the soundtrack is getting boring and annoying quickly...The idea is good, the execution not really. Also, other positive reviews from 29 July give off ChatGPT vibes… sketchy."
Sunset High can keep a completionist busy for hours, but also can keep the mystery / narrative fan fully engaged through excellent story writing. Also worth mentioning are the striking art style and sound design.

I must admit, this isn't my typical type of game. I stumbled upon their booth at PAX this year and was drawn in by the game's art style. Sunset High strikes a balance between RPG and digital novel. That said, what you're really paying for here is a sense of nostalgia and story. As a product of the '90s, I recognized the same tropes I encountered in high school: the jock, the nerd, the punk. With all these elements, it's easy to be transported back into the halls of one's most formative years—with all its embarrassing moments, eye-roll-inducing classmates, and those poor poor underpaid teachers. For $13 and the chance to support an indie team, you’ll get your money’s worth.
Sunset High quickly pulls you into the world within these classroom walls. Each conversation and decision will have ripple effects throughout the rest of the game and one option can close off another. This thoughtful aspect makes you consider and analyze each choice closely, while also adding to the ability to replay a mystery game, which is a great feat. This games is heady and deep, without spoon-feeding you or forcing awkward dialogue down your throat. It is a creative and nostalgic look into school, relationships, and reflection. All of this combines to create a world that draws the player in and promotes curiosity and exploration. I would recommend this game to anyone looking for an interesting new look into the mystery genre.
Great game, the story pull me in from the beginning and always keep me wondering what would happen next, the dialogue is really good and smooth and doesn´t feel force in any moment, the artstyle is really cool and I loved it, the gameplay is really entertainig and simple, I highly recommend this game to everyone to give it a chance.
An incredibly cerebral and satisfying experience. Eclectic pixel art and engrossing writing that takes me back to my angsty teenage years.
Sunset High is a must play for anyone who enjoys solving puzzles and exploring in games. The game ties in the classic high school social struggle into a deep mystery that feels satisfying to solve. The unique art style along with some banger music tied to each character adds a great vibe as you're exploring the world and building relationships with different cliques. This is a great game to pick up and dive into without the typical long-term time commitment that so many games are forcing now. Highly recommend!
Really enjoying this game so far, the mystery surrounding what happened is a lot of fun to unravel. Makes me feel like I'm in highschool with the cliques again and the pokemon sequence. 10/10
This was a fun narrative adventure game. The game involves replaying through a day in class as a you try and solve a mystery. You start to branch out and discover more about the other classmates as you piece together more of the mystery. funny dialog and the various character stories kept me interested through the loops. also dug the art and the music
