The Story of Suikoden II
Our story's hero and his friend Jowy are members of the Unicorn Youth Brigade, which participated in a drawn-out border dispute between the Highland Kingdom and the City-States of Jowston .

Two great classics in one package with slightly better visuals, but the great pixel art didn't need much improvement.
Game starts in windowed mode instead of full-screen (of course it does since all the bad developers do this). The mouse goes behind the window and is unusable because it is clicking things on my desktop and opening them instead of the game. Controller if plugged in prior to opening the game does nothing either. The ONLY way I could get this game to do anything was to unplug my controller multiple times until the game registered it and would let me select options to run the game in full-screen mode. I literally just noticed that other people have this same issue and it is a KNOWN bug that remains unfixed. That is a pretty big bug to not correct. You know what would solve it? Have the game start in full-screen by DEFAULT. NEGATIVE REVIEW while I ponder returning the game. We shall see.
In the context of their time they are great games but without the nostalgia lenses on, the stories are hollow and the dialogue is infantile and full of platitudes. I can't rate it negatively as it is a product of a different time and the second game looks beautiful and had enormous ambitious. I put about 6 hours into the first and 10 into the second before I had to quit from sheer boredom. Xenogears appears to be one of an extremely few games in this genre that cares to weave and tell a serious and thoughtful story.
Still a classic!!!!!
A classic is always the best
For me personally, those 2 are the best jrpgs ever made. Period. I played the original Suikoden back in 1996. I fell in love with this game. Wonderful story, enjoyable gameplay, charming art and amazing music. The sequel took everything that was good and made it even better. Though i personally prefer the first game, technically 2 is better. In any case, those 2 are easily enjoyable today, even by people who are not fans of jrpgs. I totally recommend those gems. Give them the time and complete them, you are going to realize that sometimes, games can be art.
it's a good feeling being able to play these 2 games without the game crashing (the case with old and damaged playstation cd) but anyways the improved graphics, faster loading time and auto battle mode make this game really worth buying. highly recommended for those JRPGs fans, also if you like recruiting characters and changing character party formations all the time
重温大学时的神作,可惜《幻想水浒传》系列的核心制作人村山吉隆 (Yoshitaka Murayama) 于2024年2月6日因病去世,连《百英雄传》都没等到,三代也很悬了。
