Before you read this review, I want to make two things clear; I am hesitant to recommend this game, and I am ignoring the sexual content of the game. Now for my full thoughts. Strip Fighter Zero is a good looking game that plays well. I bought it back when it first released on DLSite in summer 2022 and bought it a second time on Steam, have cleared arcade mode with every character, and spent a good amount of time in the training mode. SF0 definitely has some things going for it. It's a rare 2D sprite fighter in 2023, and while some of the animations are a bit clunky the game overall looks great. I wish more games looked like this these days but I understand the switch to 3D. The gameplay itself is also pretty good. While it can feel a little clunky at times, buttons come out when you want, special inputs feel right, hitboxes make sense, and combos come naturally, such as repeated jabs into DP or stand medium into crouching medium into special. There's a good amount of complexity too between the Super Meter and Rush Meter. The Super Meter is your typical fighting game super meter, it can build up to 3 bars and every character has a 1, 2, and 3 bar super which increase in damage accordingly. This adds in decision making on whether to spend early on the lower damage level 1 or save up for a game changing level 3. The Rush Meter on the other hand is quite a bit more complicated. The Rush Meter has up to 3 pips and slowly builds over time or from taking damage. With 1 or more pips, you can activate Strip Rush, allowing a character to cancel any move into any other attack, even on whiff. This lasts longer with more Rush Meter. Alternatively you can spend it on a Guard Cancel for 1 pip. This further adds on to the complexity, allowing players to spend it on one big combo or to spend it to prevent the opponent from starting their offense. However, while I think the base gameplay is great, there are many issues with SF0. My main one is simply the cost to content ratio. While it's on sale for about $10 as of writing, the full price is $13. And frankly I think even $10 is little bit too much. For $10 there's 8 playable characters, there's an arcade mode with unique endings, and that's about it for unique content. There's training and local and online versus too but these are standard for any half-decent fighting game. The characters are diverse and interesting and while I'm willing to cut the roster size some slack for being 2D indie game, the lack of any additional modes or content is unfortunate, a major flaw of 2DFM as an engine. Maybe you think I'm being too critical as $10 isn't that much, but the thing is that there's in my humble opinion better indie fighters you can find for the same or lower price with significantly more content, such as Schwarzerblitz, Duels of Fortune, Heatwave, and Merfight. If more content is added in later updates I'd definitely be willing to change my opinion on this but as is Strip Fighter 5 is more bang for your buck (pun not intended). And on the modes themselves, they're... fine. Arcade has you go against the entire cast with some pretty good art to go with it. Versus is exactly what you expect but there's no option to fight a CPU for whatever reason. Training lets you test out combos with infinite resources and frame data displayed. However, instead of being able to practice on a CPU, you have to configure a second player so you can use them as your dummy. This isn't difficult but it's inconvenient. The Online is ok. It uses StudioS' 2DFM online solution, which is one of the better ones out there. It's delay based netcode through a server where you can find and versus other players. The UI is completely in Japanese making it hard to use at first and it can be a bit convoluted, but it works which is more than I can say for other fighting games. My final major gripe is with the menus. Like all of StudioS' fighters, this was made in 2D Fighter Maker 2nd (2002), which is quite dated. As a result, to change game options and configure controls you have to use menus selected from the window that are entirely in Japanese and look like they're from windows 95. There's an official guide on how to navigate them but this obviously isn't a perfect solution. Furthermore navigating the actual in game menus isn't as intuitive as it seems. Selecting the game modes works fine but to exit to main menu, you have to pause then hit ABC all at once. Entering fullscreen is done with F4. Other small inconveniences that add up. I understand wanting to stick with the engine you know but that also means you have to deal with the flaws inherent to it. So tldr; Strip Fighter 0 is a good fighting game that I would be more than happy to recommend if it weren't lacking in content. A lot of this game's issues come down to the limits of 2DFM as an engine and while I understand them I won't excuse them. Still, if you're just looking for a good game to spend some time on and play with friends for a little while, SF0 is worth the $10.
Game Length: 1 hour a day or 1 hour a week. Not crazy time consuming but low content as most fighting games are. 5/5 Story: Not much as far as fighting games go. n/a Gameplay: Fun. Very old school like a mix of Fatal Fury or Streetfighter Alpha or something. A variety of cast and some of the characters seem to have a similar playstyle, rivals, to each other (ex: Ryu and Ken) BUT not exactly the same. In this game it would be like the grappler and the wrestler girl, and the other 2 would be like the Ice Fighter and the Princess Fighter etc. Seems to be 2Player compatible. 5/5 CG: Patch Required, Character sprites are AMAZING, looking solid smooth like CvS2 mark millenium! A nice nsfw ending for each or most of the cast. 5/5 Grand Total: Great overall! Honest ratings but still too high, can definitely be lower. 8.5/10 Definitely Recommend this game! It is a treasure and going on my IndiesHShelf. It looks like StudioS has been focusing more on gameplay improvements and visuals, while the nsfw works are still improving the nsfw seems to be a lot less than their previous but that is due to the focus for gameplay and visual i'm assuming. Quality Fighting Game and some of their best art as this is one of their latest releases dating in 2022. Crisp Clean Sprites. Can't recall any clunks, only clunk is when playing Pressing L and M you would believe the game would register it in order but the game doesn't. Timing is very critical so spamming would be your best bet. Example: When you press M and while the animations are executing you'll probably want to be mashing H to prep it, making sure it follows up so you don't miss the timing and so forth. Though MarvelVsCapcom3 and Umvc3 are similar with input clunking too so I wouldn't really consider this a clunk in fighting games. If you like Fighting Games in general and NSFW this is definitely looking to be an ideal game! Characters have their NSFW Endings. Mechanics in game have: -Dashes -Parry?/Ground Recovery? (not 100% positive as i am still playing the game currently but i've been seeing it happen now and then.) -Tekken Juggling -2types of Supers -Rush = Install? (not sure what this one was called but like in Street Fighter Alpha, there's a mechanic each character can utilize to put them into a state where they can spam unlimited combos, no frames or downtime. Kinda like animation canceling or just eligible to link and spam Hadoukens right after another for pure comboing)
Needs a...
(see publisher) Game Is: H fighting-game with a retro leaning.

[+] The pixel-art is quite nice and the tags are very enjoyable. [+] The gameplay is decent enough, it's not amazing but works well for what it is. [-] The game is very obtuse, it's difficult to decipher how most mechanics actually work. [-] The game's engine feels very technically dated, it's cumbersome to navigate and during certain character actions it seems to not register inputs reliably.

Summary: This small retro game can be often very obtuse to play but the gameplay is competent and the H is enjoyable.

Tips > Press F4 to toggle fullscreen. > Recommend picking the dude, he seems to be one of two characters who can perform H grapples. > To actually end the fight during the match-end phase, the game seems to want you to perform a very specific technique. Don't just spam attacks, it'll take forever.
