ADVANCED V.G. Saturn Tribute brings back the classic 1997 2D fighting game featuring an all-female cast of restaurant-themed fighters for Saturn, originating from the PC-98 version in 1993 and the TG16 version in 1994. Players engage in fast-paced battles utilizing strikes, throws, and projectile moves. The game offers multiple modes, including Normal Mode, Story Mode with rich 90s-style anime cutscenes, and VS Mode for two-player battles. Modern enhancements such as a rewind function, save/load capabilities, and a one-button Super Move system make the game more accessible to newcomers. The visuals revive the original anime-style artwork by legendary artist Takahiro Kimura, and while some content has been toned down from the original versions, the game still includes partial nudity and suggestive themes. Note that in-game text and voiceovers are in Japanese, with menus supporting both Japanese and English. This tribute edition preserves the essence of the original while providing quality-of-life improvements, making it a must-play for not only fans of classic fighting games and anime aesthetics but also modern fighting players.
Check out our Steam curator , YouTube channel and X(Twitter)!
リアタイで、PC-9801版からプレイ 当時、パソコンで格闘ゲームはなかなか遊べるほど数も少なかったけど このV.G.はカクカクしてたけど遊べた この後出たV.G.Ⅱ(PC-9801版)の時はメモリの空きをどれだけ増やせるかで動作が変わるものでした さて、昔話は置いといて当時(PC-Engine)と比べて操作性は良くなっておりますが、最近の格闘ゲームと比較したら厳しいでしょう ガチャガチャやって楽しむのが良いかと格ゲー初心者の友達でもワイワイ楽しめるかもね ただね、言わせてもらえるならPC版も出そうよ(エロがあってこそ名作…ぇ) あ、あと自分的には武内優香ステージBGMが格ゲーの中で一番好き 6/15追記 調べるとわかることなのですが、このゲーム未プレイの方は必殺技が殆ど元ネタがあるので探してみると面白いですよ一つヒントとしてはトラとネコですf^^;

UNTIL THEY ADD ENGLISH SUBTITLES STAY AWAY!!!! No English Subtitles for the Story mode or win screens. The Devs as of this writing have abandoned the project and are not providing responses or updates. STAY AWAY! This is extra sad as Advanced Variable Geo is a decent game but in this day and age not having English Subtitles is completely unacceptable!!!!!!
Alright, lemme tell you what you're getting with this thing. For those who don't need an introduction to the game itself, this is just the Saturn game running in an emulator of some sort. You may or may not appreciate the options given, but the emulator's performance is VERY good. Running 100% on 4GHz A10-7850K. Not sure how this is possible since the first version of Ymir predates this game by less than a month, but it's very impressive. For those who aren't sure about the game, the Variable Geo series started with fairly lousy H games, but Advanced V.G. is an attempt to move towards something that you might actually admit to playing. Despite the 1997 tagline, you need to think of this more like fighting games from 1993-94. Gameplay is slower and unrefined. Fighting game archetypes weren't well defined yet, so game balance is suspect. Less SFA, and more Fatal Fury 2. If you enjoy jank fighting games and/or old stuff like World Warrior and KOF94, this should be fun for you. If you just want an H game, this ain't it. Hopefully the devs will either come up with Advanced V.G. 2, or more Saturn ports. World Heroes Perfect? Suiko Enbu? Would be nice.
Back in the '90s, aside from the well-known fighters from SNK and CAPCOM and not affiliated with an anime/manga series, in the arcades and on console in the early '90s were games in Japan which have garnered a fan following. Games such as "Asuka 120%" (released in 1994 and to be released in arcades until development was canceled and released in Japan arcades for the first time on December 24, 2025 as "Asuka 120% Excellent), "Tokidensho Angel Eyes" (available on the Switch via Arcade Archives), "Seifuku Densetsu Pretty Fighter" for the SNES and its X remake for the Saturn but no modern release yet and the Atlus/CAVE fighter Goketsuji Ichizoku 2 (aka Power Instinct 2) for the PSX and its sequel Groove on Fight (Goketsu Ichizoku 3) for the Sega Saturn. But there was one game that stood out thanks to its adult novel and that was "Variable Geo". These were fighting games but 18+ and was originally released for the PC-9800 in 1993 and would receive a PSX and Sega Saturn release as "Advanced VG". The game received a visual novel adaptation and an anime OVA release as well. The concept is that a mysterious Jahana Group is holding a martial arts tournament to determine who is the strongest waitress and the prize is 1 billion yen. And many waitresses who can fight enter the tournament for their own personal reason. But no one has beaten the corporation's champion, Jahana Reimi. She is a three time VG Champion and no one has been able to beat her. Which leads to this fourth tournament. The game has been released on STEAM and the Nintendo Switch but digitally, if you purchase on STEAM, you can get the Perfect Pack which includes the soundtrack and booklet. The STEAM version does not include any nudity or anything like SA or really outrageous hentai situations that the novel/visual novel had. The biggest differences, like other Saturn Tribute releases are the QoL additions such as the ability to rewind and save anytime. If you grew up in the '90s with fighting games, everyone remembers the frustration, the broken controllers and rage one had when the bosses were too difficult to beat and you would spend your whole young life for days, weeks trying to find a way to beat the final bosses. But with the addition of rewind and saving, this definitely makes things less frustrating. In addition, they did add the convenient LB and RB buttons to pull of a special move (not the same move each time but for those who are not familiar with fighting games can utilize those buttons). But possibly the best part of this game is that it probably has one of the best fighting storylines in a video game. Many fighting games give a short cut scene but no, "ADVANCED V.G." offers animated scenes and still scenes with seiyuu (voice actors) fully voiced. And the storyline is very awesome and deeper than expected. As mentioned, the Perfect Pack is available with the soundtrack from the game. For me, games with a soundtrack is like the icing on the cake, especially if you enjoy the game and it's music a lot. As for the booklet, it's a 20-page PDF featuring character designs and an interview (in Japanese). But for the most part, I am pleased with the release but I am sure there are people who will find something to complain such as (no English subtitles or dub for the storyline), no nude scenes, no online fighting mode as it's more of a single-player game. No this is an older game with added QoL features. In fact, some people may find the game that didn't age well because it's simplistic in gameplay mechanics. But if you are someone who don't mind older fighting games from the early '90s, receiving a few QoL features, then definitely give "ADVANCED V.G." a try. I grew up playing these types of games, so anyway these old school fighting games are still fun and enjoyable. I enjoyed this one!
Great game, it just needs steam remote play together added.
