Strawberry Vinegar is a sweet little visual novel that really shines when it leans into food, friendship, and character moments. The art is charming and the descriptions of meals genuinely made me smile—and occasionally hungry. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3623685438 The choices don’t drastically change the story, but they do lead to multiple endings, and the warmth between Rie and Licia is nice to follow. It’s not a super deep or complex game, but if you enjoy relaxed, character-driven stories with a quirky sense of humor, this is a lovely pick.
weird ass game mc is 9?? making me leave ts on for 2hours so i can get my strawberry profile frame
Cute art, great screenshots and achievements. Terrible, creepy writing. Why is the MC 9 years old..? The parent's cannot be real people, totally vapid and obsessive freaks. Skip the dialogue for your sanity.
this story presents itself as cute and wholesome, yet the dad is creepy as hell and the parents keep being inappropriate around the kids. it would've been way better if the kids were teenagers instead, and it's no wonder the writing instantly improved the moment
there was a timeskip to when they are 18
. also, that UI gave me a headache, gosh 😭 as a big fan of ebihime, i'm really sorry but this was NOT it :(
Lo compre solo por el fondo de frutillas pero esta muy cute
Strawberry balsamic? Sign me up, where was my succubus when I was 9? GEE WIZZ I AM UNLUCKY.
got it for just the backround took way too long mc is 9 btw
characters look too young
Wait, the main character is only 9 years old? I didn't expect that, considering there are dirty jokes in this game, and it really bothered me. If the MC was older, I might have liked this game, but sorry, I can't read it.
I had gotten this game ages ago and only now got to it. And I'll be honest, after one ending I do not think I will pursuing any other endings. So while I cannot speak on the other ending, the rest of writing, or any other artwork in the game, I can speak on what parts I did see within my twelve minutes of play time ( partially cause I read very fast ). The MC is nine years old, which isn't an inherent negative, but it does clashes with some things. The MC's outfits don't make it seem like she has her own personal taste, which it feels like she definitely would from the personality given to her. She's also very mature, which is fine, some children are; but then the game punishes you for that ( spoiler section ). And I will admit, even in the one scene with her parents; they're kind of bad parents. Talking about a murder in front of a child could be a mistake, sure. But then also letting your daughter go to a gas station alone after school? Even the way the parents talk to each other is odd, it doesn't feel like a couple or even two adults talking to each other—which is only worse by how mature the MC is in comparison to her parents. To be fair, if this was treated as a negative by the MC I wouldn't mind; but even she treats it as 'normal'. And I just find that odd and a little off-putting for what's meant to be a pretty wholesome visual novel. The ending I did get, feels weird I will admit? Spoiler for the
"Dead End"
ending:
This was the ending I got and I will be honest, I closed the game after. After you tell the love interest to leave twice after she's broken into your home, while you're home alone mind you. Her older sister shows up later and kills you as 'revenge'—I'm sorry, what? I'm sorry, but if I'm a child, home alone; why would I not do that? Especially for a MC that is written to be mature, hell, even her going out on her own so much would mean she's had to be safe and cautious when out. And it would be fine if that just gave me a bad end where nothing happened, or even if the MC died in an accident so the soul was technically collected still. But making another character directly kill a child for practicing basic safety is a pretty crazy thing to write.
I actually did like the MC, partially because I had a similar personality to her at the age. But both her parents, the love interest, and the love interests older sister are just... weird. And not in a fun way. I will say, I think a lot of the art assets for the game are very cute, and I really loved how the menus looked. It just feels like the characters and the writing, even from the start, is a bit of a let down.
