真百无雷小甜饼，流程六个小时左右，无中文。女主因为转学来到一个小岛上，当晚在海边救了一条昏迷的美人鱼，隔天入学和班里的高岭之花成为了好朋友，最后三人陷入一段摇摆不定的三角恋情中。一共五个路线，两条个人线，单身线，恶搞路线，还有后宫线，包含重力，败犬要素，后面的剧情走向让我嗅到了阴暗冰窖的味道，结果没有多少展开，你们的关系还是太健康了（失望 画风还行，不过总感觉很多cg里女主侧脸都有点崩。剧情偏日常喜剧，疑似最终BOSS的角色也是戏剧性的被几波嘴炮轰死，草草下线，没想象中的大冲突大矛盾发生。路线之间重复的事件比较多，最后都是好结局，一般推荐。

[b]Note:[/b] A wonderful friend gifted me a copy of this game. ^^ [h1]A beautiful yuri story that will make you believe in happy endings. ^^[/h1] [h2]Introduction[/h2] [i]Out of the Ocean[/i] is a yuri visual novel developed and published by ebi-hime. You take on the role of Asuka, a teenager living with her aunt on the island of Omorishima for a year since her parents are working abroad. Afraid of adjusting to a new school and not being able to get along with her classmates (let alone make any friends), Asuka decides to take a nighttime stroll and upon arriving at the beach, she finds an unconscious mermaid by the name of Nerine. After waking up and seeing Asuka, Nerine is happy to see her and begs her to take her away from the ocean, despite that she's a mermaid. Even though Asuka is confused as to why, she agrees to help Nerine, taking her back to her aunt's place, which is a traditional Japanese inn currently being renovated. Of course, Asuka won't be able to keep Nerine a secret for long. With hiding a runaway mermaid and adjusting to a new life, can Asuka handle all the pressures weighing down on her? :o As for the gameplay, there are plenty of choices present throughout the story. There are a total of 5 endings: an early ending, an alone one, romance with Nerine, romance with Misuzu (Asuka's classmate who befriends her almost immediately), and a poly ending with Nerine and Misuzu. With the poly ending, a bonus story is unlocked that takes place very shortly after that ending. It can be found in the Extras section of the menu, along with a list of all unlocked endings, a CG gallery (there are plenty of beautiful CGs), music tracks, and author's notes. A few Steam achievements are present, but they won't count towards a user's global total until the game is out of "Steam is learning about this game". [h2]Review[/h2] It feels good to get back into playing visual novels, although I enjoy plenty of other game genres, too. ^^ I admit that I'd been keeping my eyes on this one, especially since I enjoy ebi-hime's stories and even more so, her yuri ones. Thanks to a totally awesome friend, I had the chance to read this story and give my thoughts. The start of the story is a bit slow, but that's to be expected since it's important to establish the setting and the moods of Asuka, the main character, as well as other notable characters, such as Asuka's Aunt Shoko. With the story involving a mermaid, though, I expected that the events would be exciting and I wasn't disappointed. I enjoyed getting to know Asuka and Nerine and observing their relationship grow, which felt natural. While Nerine is effusive in her love (although it's more like platonic love initially), Asuka is more awkward. Nerine is quite secretive, though, about her reason that she wanted to leave the ocean, and of course, we find out later. (Let's just say that yup, there's definitely a slimy villain lurking about. :o) As for Misuzu, Asuka's classmate, I liked getting to know her as well. Initially, she comes off as the perfect student but quiet and reserved. However, there are way more personality layers to her, as Misuzu confides to Asuka about her home life. With the endings, most of them are very good, aside from the early ending, which is more somber. I'll admit that I enjoyed the poly ending the most, and I think that plenty of people who end up reading this story will probably have the same opinion. XD Also, for those who are fans of ebi-hime's other VNs, there are a couple of references. There is one from [i]My Dear Prince[/i], mainly in regards to Omorishima, and another from [i]How to Melt a Maiden's Heart[/i], as the MC from that VN makes an appearance on a route. With the gameplay, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that [i]Out of the Ocean[/i] has multiple routes. However, it isn't too difficult to obtain all of the endings, and if you get stuck, there is a wonderful Steam user guide available that can help. Even though Nerine is the intended route, I'm happy that Misuzu has her own route since I ended up liking her a lot and could empathize with her situation (well, except for the being from a wealthy family part). The poly route is sweet as well, and all the routes (except for the early ending, of course) are very sweet, so they're totally worth reading. All Steam achievements are obtainable as well. As for the art, it is lovely as always. The sprites have a cute anime style to them, and the backgrounds are especially gorgeous. I'm a huge fan of the ocean background, but I admit that it might be because I like the water a lot. They fit well with the scenes they're placed, and I enjoyed listening to the tracks in the Extras section. No voice acting is present, but that's usually the case. I prefer imagining the voices for Asuka, Nerine, Misuzu, and the others myself. XD [h2]Conclusion[/h2] Would I recommend [i]Out of the Ocean[/i]? If you're looking for cute, sweet yuri visual novel that has multiple routes, you're especially a fan of ebi-hime's works, and/or you like looking for all those Steam achievements, then it's worth taking a look. At the asking price, I feel that it's fair for a newly released VN, especially since there are multiple endings. one thing i have to say at the start is the story can take more suspension of disbelief than usual. if you can look past that, this is a really good vn! it's super wholesome, charming, and well written, the music fits the vibe of the story well, and the art is just stunning. highly recommend if you're looking for non-doomed yuri

I've never really been a fan of love triangles. I find them to be written in a way that frustrates me. They can take away from the stories and characters if they're done poorly, particularly if they're drawn out. However, Out of the Ocean's love triangle doesn't suffer from these qualities at all. No love interest is demonized in any route. In addition to the regular romance routes, ebi-hime has added a no romance route and a poly route. The poly route in particular was a big selling point for me. It's very rare to see poly relationships in any sort of romance story, let alone yuri, despite polyamory being a big part of the queer community. I really enjoyed the way it was handled here. It was a really sweet first romantic relationship between three teens, which is probably not how you would expect a poly relationship to play out. But the way it was written felt very natural, and I'm glad it was added. I tend to not really care for multi-route visual novels and prefer kinetic visual novels overall. But I really enjoyed Out of the Ocean and The Way We All Go a lot. I recommend this one if you like multi-route stories and if you want yuri romance that's both sweet and wholesome. And of course, if you want yuri that *finally* has poly representation.

It's cute, sweet, has nice music, nice art, and a poly option! But you can't romance the tall, buff woman so I have to give it a 0 out of 10.

A yuri vn from Ebi-Hime. They make great vns so I was really excited to play this. Especially when they confirmed a poly route! I dont see that too often in the medium. Both romantic interests are fleshed out and interesting. One is Nerine a mermaid that our main character saves after being washed up on the beach. The other is Misuzu, a prim and proper lady who is the mc's friend at school. Getting 100% took me about 9 hours. The art is cute, the music is atmospheric, and the story is engaging. You should absolutely play this if you enjoy yuri vns cause I feel like this is going to become a classic of the genre.

This was a very cute and interestingly written Visual Novel. I found myself enjoying the narrative start to finish and finish, and am always happy to play games with not only cute lesbian romance, but even poly routes! I suppose I should get the nitpicks out of the way. One of the heroines is very much less focused on then the other. Reading the notes this seems to be because the game was originally written with one ending in mind, and at times it certainly shows. There's very much a leaning all things considered. The other heroine's route almost comes off as slightly unnatural, especially with how the plot unfolds. Without giving too much away, said heroine acts and behaves very negatively (to say the least) towards the end, so it can feel a bit odd how easily her actions are forgiven. Outside of that little late game hiccup taken by the other heroine, the polyamory is very well sold. The writing takes care to make sure you know, the other girls do very much like each other and where they may have a preference for our MC, there are enough sweet cute moments going through. As a polyamorous person myself, I love seeing when the people I love flirt with each other. It makes me giggle and sigh happily, and the route has no short supply. All in all, while it certainly feels like a static story with some extra plots added to the end, its well enough written and a fresh unique take that I can overlook some odd hiccups in the story here and there. Game has my full recommendation.

Loved this game. I came for the mermaid romance, because I love mermaids. But somehow Misuzu ended up being my best girl. In the end, no matter which route you choose, you can't go wrong because all the endings are great! Even if you chose not to date anyone the ending doesn't disappoint.

[h1]MERMAID IN MY BATHTUB[/h1] Generally, I’m an enjoyer of ebi-hime’s work. Their games can be a bit hit or miss, but with Out of the Ocean, they delivered a very wholesome yuri Visual Novel. This is definitely not their strongest game in terms of writing - you have to shut your brain off a little too often for the story to work, and the pacing can be too fast at times. That said, Out of the Ocean is extremely charming, features endearing characters, and offers enjoyable romance options. I’d give it a [b]mixed[/b] review if I could. The game is fine, but the problems that I listed above keep to make it from being actually great. I still ended up recommending it, though, because I’m a sucker for [spoiler]polyamorous yuri[/spoiler]. Ebi-hime, you got me with that one :) [b]Story[/b] The protagonist, Asuka, is a sixteen-year-old shy girl who just moved from Tokyo to a much smaller town to live with her aunt. Nothing extraordinary happens... until one night, she finds a mermaid on a nearby beach. Not gonna lie, Asuka's reaction to discovering a real mermaid felt underwhelming. Sure, wanting to help her makes sense, and then wanting to kiss her... okay, maybe? But then you just don’t question anything and take her home? It’s hard to buy that, especially since the game tries to keep the setting fairly grounded. To make things more interesting, we quickly meet another girl, Misuzu, and the story jumps into love triangle territory. There are occasional choices, so you can decide for yourself whether to pursue any relationship further. Luckily, the story really picks up after that initial hurdle. You still have to ignore some silly bits, but everything is so cute and sweet that I couldn’t stay mad for long. I was grinning ear-to-ear when I saw the choice [spoiler]to get all three girls together. They’re so precious as a group that I’d hate to leave anyone out of a potential relationship. Even the jealousy detour near the end didn’t dampen my poly hype.[/spoiler] [b]Writing[/b] The writing itself is a mixed bag. I liked most of it, but there are moments where it feels like the writer just padded the "stats" to have more lines. Extra fluff isn’t bad when done right, but here it sometimes fell flat. Some of the dialogue also feels a bit too "in your face". I get that telling a story through static images and text is tricky, but dropping story explanations right in the middle of a conversation can really break immersion. [b]Visuals[/b] Out of the Ocean looks great. The backgrounds are varied and detailed, the character designs are unique (hoooly Marina, the six-pack queen), the CGs are top-notch, and there are even little animations, like moving hands, that make everything feel more alive. [b]Audio[/b] Not much to say here. There’s no voice acting, the VFX are minimal, and the soundtrack is just okay. It fits the scenes, but nothing about it really stands out. [b]Technicalities[/b] I didn’t notice any issues.
