Strategic Command WWII: War in Europe

It's certainly returned a high ROI - but buy it on sale. It reminds of the ancient SPI board game War in Europe - so many units that the scaling feels off. Especially off are naval fleet actions - there ARE no fleets as such: each unit takes up its own hex at all times. And I haven't the zones of control at sea since the equally ancient SPI Sixth Fleet. You will also never see a naval unit sink strike from one strike, as happened repeatedly historically - HSM Hood, HMS Barham, HMS Royal Oak, HMS Barham. The AI LOVES to 'exploit' gaps - which a human player can exploit. Partisans are included - which could be great if the best counter to Tito wasn't a full Panzer corps. Recommendation: Buy it - but on sale, and be prepared to be annoyed if you know history.

Great game, and the multiplayer works well too (playing a friend now). There is a lot of depth, its easy to pick up but you realize there's much more strategy under the hood. The devs clearly put a lot of thought into this, with an extensive manual (though you don't have to read it all to play by any means) and lots of different paths for the Axis and Allies to try out. Definitely recommend Strategic Command WWII! For those old "grognards" who liked "Europe Aflame" from TOAW IV, you may like this as well.

Großartig. Eine durchaus historisch-akkurate Simulation des zweiten Weltkriegs in Europa und Umgebung. Allerdings ist es immer noch möglich, eigene taktische und strategische Spielweisen zu verfolgen. Eine Perle!
