This game is an amazing Rogue-light Action-RPG. With a heavy focus on the player using magic to wage a war against evil bad guys to save the world. Even with the player using magic, there exists characters the player can swap between as the progress through the game, the likes of which use different combat styles. Close-range melee-a-like, Ranged, Summoning, Debuffing, there is numerous playstyles and each wizard can be customized to gain more talents, some of which even mimic the other wizards. Combat is easy to learn but takes a long while to master. I really enjoyed this game.
awesome game good replay value
构筑不丰富,游戏内容过少
StormEdge is a fast, stylish, and ambitious action-roguelite that blends swift reflex-driven combat with an elemental magic theme, delivering a gameplay loop built around momentum, risk, and constant adaptation. Developed by Shieldbreaking Games and published by HypeTrain Digital and Edigger, the game casts you as a member of the StormEdge guild, a group of mages attempting to restore balance to a world shattered by violent elemental storms. From the very beginning, the premise sets a tone of urgency: storms surge, monsters mutate, and every expedition into the wilds becomes a test of your ability to control chaos rather than be overwhelmed by it. Each run asks you to choose a mage—each with distinct capabilities—and then plunge into shifting regions filled with hazards, branching paths, and escalating encounters. Combat lies at the heart of StormEdge, and it is designed to be relentless. The game abandons cooldowns almost entirely, instead encouraging players to remain in the thick of battle and rely on movement, timing, and skill synergy to stay alive. Dodging at the last possible moment becomes a core mechanic, as perfect evades restore stamina or empower skills, rewarding bold play instead of overly cautious positioning. The melee-focused magical combat system allows for fluid combos and rapid transitions between attacks, special abilities, and finishers. As you progress, each decision—whether to dash through danger, take a risk with a relic, or commit to a particular magic school—pushes your build in new directions. When the systems click together, the game achieves a satisfying rhythm where aggression and finesse merge into a high-tempo dance across screens filled with projectiles, enemy swarms, and environmental hazards. Visually, StormEdge benefits greatly from its expressive pixel-art style. The mages animate with clarity and personality, and the environments—ranging from fiery ruins to frost-bitten wastelands—deliver a strong sense of place despite the fast pace of the action. Special effects for elemental abilities burst with color but remain readable, an important achievement given how chaotic battles can become. Enemy designs do a good job of telegraphing attacks without breaking the flow of combat, and boss encounters often fill the screen with striking animations that signal danger while still leaving room for precise counterplay. The audio landscape supports the visuals with thundering spell effects, sharp impact sounds, and an energetic soundtrack that keeps the intensity high. StormEdge also incorporates a branching progression structure that helps each run feel distinct. Runs unfold across a map dotted with combat arenas, upgrade nodes, challenge rooms, and relic opportunities. Your choices influence the types of enemies you face, the upgrades available, and the difficulty of subsequent stages. The schools of magic system allows for significant build variety: focusing on one school can unlock powerful speciality abilities, while mixing schools creates hybrid strategies that reward experimentation. Between runs, a hub area offers permanent upgrades, unlocked mages, and new relic options that gradually expand your strategic palette. This long-term progression ensures that even failed runs contribute to overall growth, helping maintain a satisfying sense of advancement. Despite its strengths, the game comes with a handful of drawbacks that may affect its longevity for some players. The sheer number of overlapping systems—schools, relics, dodge mechanics, time-based bonuses, environmental modifiers—can feel overwhelming at first, especially since the game does not always introduce these systems as clearly as it could. Certain encounters, particularly in elemental biomes like the snowy regions, include mechanics that feel unfairly punitive rather than challenging, such as abrupt freeze effects that punish players with little warning or counterplay. While enemy and room variety is decent, the core pattern of short arena battles can grow repetitive over longer play sessions, particularly once players have experimented with most schools and relic combinations. The challenge curve can also spike unpredictably, creating moments where a run ends abruptly due to harsh combinations of enemies or environmental hazards. Even with these limitations, StormEdge succeeds as an engaging and rewarding roguelite built on satisfying combat and sharp presentation. It excels for players who enjoy rapid-fire action, build experimentation, and the thrill of entering a run not knowing which synergies will emerge. For those who appreciate games like Hades, Wizard of Legend, or other magic-infused action roguelites, StormEdge offers a familiar yet distinct flavor with its focus on high-risk evasive combat and its elemental storm aesthetic. It may not reinvent the genre, but it confidently delivers a polished, kinetic experience with enough depth and replayability to occupy fans of pixel-art action for many hours. Rating: 7/10
