Simulator of an 80s Japanese stock market businessman. Chill, catch a retro vibe and watch your profits grow in the text-based game STONKS-9800.
Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2/day in the week to Aug 17 → 6.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A great game with the potential to get even better with future updates and expansions.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 26: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

It’s time to say it: this game has no future. You could go on about how "it's in Early Access" or "the developers are trying," but you hit the ceiling by the second playthrough—theoretically, you can even "beat" it on the first run (maybe not unlocking every single achievement, but still). There were plenty of minor features added over the summer, yet the game itself only vaguely reflects real stock market economics; company progression is very weak, and growth strategies are limited to just 7–10 options. You can't really spend the money anywhere anyway (and why would you? When you're sitting on trillions, the only way to go into the red is through divorce... or prison). The only fun to be had is chasing numbers—setting personal bests, basically. Plus, the "80s Japanese trader" concept has limited room for growth on its own; it’s all too easy for it to devolve into a generic life sim—which, frankly, is already lackluster in this game. I have no idea what the developer could possibly roll out next. Right now, it’s a game that lasts an hour—maybe two. Nice pixel art and... that’s it? There’s no real thrill to the trading, either. If it gets a full release or things change a year from now, I might change my mind, but for the moment, that’s where it stands.

At first glance this game may seem boring, being an investor in the 80s Japanese stock market doesn't sound super compelling at first glance. But once you start the game you quickly realize the game as far more depth then it seems, and its continuing to get better and better with each update. Generally, if you like making tough decisions, strategy, but also cozy vibes, then you will probably have a great time. In the game as you make your character you decide some starting traits, and then as you play you choose which stocks to buy and when, figuring out the right time to sell those stocks, you can also run your own business, start a charity and more, there are decisions you can make that alter how you play as well, you have many different ways to play and get presented with many different routes to go down. I do think companies need an overhaul, but that's honestly my only gripe, the game is solid and very enjoyable and I look forward to where it goes from here!
