maybe a point and click classic to some but as someone who's never played this up until now, the game just felt way too weird and icky. some things that didn't feel right: forced dialogues, almost fetish-like portrayal of dead women, painfully stereotypic depiction of a black man, the main character (who is a WOMAN) going "this girl liked pain" as her first reaction to seeing a dead body of a tattooed woman with piercings, then some five minutes later proceeding to get groped by her male coworker, albeit on accident, but presented in a haha funny setting (no woman would react to that with asking "do you like them?" COME ON). and on top of all that, it's an old game, so I ran into some technical issues that had to be sorted out. idk. had high hopes because the atmosphere and the visuals were super promising but it's just not worth it for me.
It's a good game, but the puzzles really push the limits of how patient the player can be. A lot of the puzzles in this game require huge leaps in logic to be able to solve, often requiring logic / interpretation that goes far beyond the game's world. In other words, it is difficult to gauge how far the game wants the player to go with their reasoning, and the inconsistency in puzzle difficulty is far more upsetting than the puzzles themselves. The game does come with a handy pdf guide included in the game files, and the guide does often give you hints first before giving you the solution, so you can have a chance to figure it out yourself. The story is also pretty good. I found it gripping enough to justify continuing to play, and I'm glad I did. It's a bit like Silence of The Lambs, and that's probably why I liked it. The pre-rendered backgrounds still look better than the early 3D games of 2005, so the devs' choice to go with pre-rendered graphics was the correct one. The Prague levels especially looks really atmospheric and eerie, and I don't think they could've pulled it off the way they did with early 3D tech. All in all, it's a good game and it's worth the price. It took me around 9 hours to beat, but if you skip the puzzles using the pdf guide that comes included, you can probably finish it in 6 or 7 hours.
this amazing game is for 2005 and it's a very interesting game like la noire its even older especially if you love detective games and serial killers pure nostalgia and underrated
not a murder mystery without an underground sex dungeon
crazy good point and click with really intriguing lore and atmosphere I sure hope the sequel will be just as good if not better Clueless
If you love Syberia, you'd love this. If you love this, play Syberia too.
The story, characters, atmosphere, and twists are phenomenal, and while the puzzles can get ridiculously hard/annoying at points, if you can push past that flaw like I did, you've got one amazing adventure game here.
Tried all the fixes and this game still crashed during cutscenes. Thought I fixed it but after losing over an hour of progress from a crash, couldn't get past one of the first cutscenes again. Unplayable.
This is a cult classic point-and-click adventure with a killer atmosphere. The dark, moody vibe and the dual-timeline murder mystery are still intriguing today. The voice acting is solid for its time, and some puzzles are genuinely clever. But oh boy, get ready for some classic "adventure game logic" where solutions make zero sense. The controls feel clunky now, and the ending is famously abrupt and unsatisfying. A must-play for genre fans who love noir, but a frustrating relic for everyone else.
One of my favorite point & click games. It has a mysterious, otherworldly atmosphere that really draws you in. I especially love how it captures the vibe of 90s crime movies dark and moody.
