In Stellar Bewitching: Remastered you play a teenage witch with one goal in mind…hooking yourself a boyfriend for Venusia’s Day! How hard can that be?
The Story
A free-to-play, turn-based rpg set in the universe of Planet Kardel in Crasper City lives a Farian teenage witch named Elya. Elya has a big problem, Venusia’s Day is fast approaching (thee day of love and romance) and she has yet to find a boyfriend. The problem is she told all her friends she has one…oh, the web we weave. So now Elya has no choice but to venture into the Limbo Realm, along with her trusted familiar Floryn to [strike]kidnap[/strike] …uh I mean obtain her an actual boy to pretend he is her boyfriend. Along the way they recruit a bada** penguin named Pokie. Alright not the most menacing name for a blade-master. You also end up meeting a contender for a possible pretend boyfriend named Ivan, a spirited 17 year old human from the Farseen Tribe on a mission to prove himself and find his destiny. I really like Floryn, she is a firecracker and flirts like crazy. I love when she’s checking out the hobbyist (or wandering salesman)...”I would love to check out your stuff”. *wink
Gameplay & Features
Combat in this game is a side-view battle system (turn-based). Inflict weakness on enemies to reduce their shield strength, stun them and then finish them off. The difficulty can be pretty daunting to be honest. It would be nice if this game had a difficulty setting. The only settings in the game are for display options, dash options, battle settings such as animation speed and audio settings. The game does support controllers but I used keyboard and mouse for my play-through. For the most part the game is played with mainly the mouse only and the keyboard more for changing the quantity of items in the shop (arrow keys).
The Visuals & Audio
Visually the art style is cute. Hand drawn characters set in an old-school style rpg. The soundtrack is also what you’d expect in an old-school rpg. In this setting it works. Synth tunes with a sci-fi pop feel.
Overall Experience
Now I am recommending this game for those who like a challenge because this game is difficult. My biggest gripe with it is that you have no control over the difficulty settings. If you did have any control I would suggest this game for everyone but sadly you don't. If they honestly changed that one setting it would be a lot more fun for a lot more people. The game has a lot going for it. It is funny, cute and has some story lore built into it. Hopefully the developer takes this gripe to heart for their future games and puts in difficulty settings. 🎮
When Otome Lovers encounters The Butterfly Effects, it's a blend of enchanting love stories and the magical ripples of fate! While the protagonist in that game is trying to save the world, the girl in this game has another priority, namely finding a boyfriend for Venusia's Day. Due to the different plot, you don't need to play Rave Heart to enjoy this game, although there was a reference from that game at the beginning of the story, which again, unrelated to the main plot. It's hard to remember the characters' names. This mostly applies to the main protagonist and her familiar, named Elya and Floryn. I assume the difficult name only applies to people on this planet, especially since the other two party members have names that are easier to remember. Being a game that focuses on combat, the story is quite mediocre. You can guess the ending from miles away, except for one of the party members, due to a lack of information on his background. That being said, you won't invest too much in the character here, and even though there were some dialogues between them as you play, I found them to be awkward. The main character feels like an introverted girl to me, and it seems that she opens up way too fast to other people, especially considering she just met them a while ago. Gameplay In this game, you'll explore one big dungeon with several rooms in it. Some rooms are straightforward, others have puzzles in them. The puzzles are simple enough as long as you pay attention to the hints. Enemies will also be placed along the area, and you can fight or avoid them. Since they don't respawn until you re-enter the area, it's better to just get rid of them so you can explore the whole area easily. That being said, the game doesn't really make it obvious that enemies respawn. The game's progression makes it so that you clear one room and move on to the next without ever looking back. While this is a good design, enemies only spawn after you re-enter an area, and there is no way you will notice it unless you deliberately return to the previous area. I only noticed it after I was nearing the end, and that's because exiting a secret room forces the room's enemies to respawn. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3222672515 The lack of knowledge makes me think that the game requires you to manage your resources carefully, especially since you can't get extra money without battling enemies. One of the bosses in the mid-game can be very tough to beat without using items, and with no way of knowing whether the next enemies will be tougher, it can be hard to justify splurging at that point with limited resources. It's easy to level up. You'll most likely level up after every battle, provided that you didn't kill too many enemies than you should be after respawning them. Due to the touch-based encounter, there aren't many combat encounters in every room, although the fights are all more difficult than other RPG Maker games' enemies—you can't just spam the attack button to defeat them. Combat I liked how the combat works. It incentivizes you to beat the enemies with their weakness, and hit them often with smaller damage than doing the other way around (fewer hits with bigger damage). Enemies can get stunned after you hit them with their weakness enough times, and since each enemy is weak to a different element, you need to strategize how to divide the damage. It's not often that I have to spread the damage to different enemies instead of focusing my attack on one enemy. Bosses' difficulty varies. I found it strange that the boss in the mid-game was harder than the final boss. This might be because the game becomes easier once you get a skill that recovers MP, and MP was a main issue in the early game. However, there are also times when a boss attacked my party members with so much damage that my party was almost wiped out in one turn without me being able to do anything. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3532934942 The game has no mechanic to heal HP and MP to full. There is no inn, and leveling up won't recover them. The only way to recover them is by using items or in-game skills. Elya has a healing skill, and defending can recover a bit of MP. That being said, the MP recovered by defending is too small, and it becomes even more of a problem if you didn't use a skill to give an extra turn as a way to recover MP faster. This also makes most fights a waiting game where you burst all but one enemy to death and spam defend until you recover the HP and MP you lost in the exchange. This usually takes longer than the actual fight and is way too boring. I know that you can recover using items, but the game doesn't make it clear that enemies respawn, making me assume that money is limited. Moreover, some potions are expensive and might require you to grind from the enemies to make up for the lost money. Length and Difficulty I finished the game in 5.8h. The game has 2 endings, and I finished both; there are two choices that you can make that determine the ending, which were made near the end of the game. The game can be harder than other RPG Maker games in the normal difficulty, which makes it more suitable for those who are more used to RPG Maker games.
Conclusion
The combat system is what shines the most in this game, and it utilizes it well by focusing the game on that aspect. The story might not be the best, but it's presentable. If you are looking to play a short game to finish on the weekend, I could recommend this one if you enjoy RPG Maker games and want to play a harder one that focuses on combat.

It is a beauty. Although a bit challenging, it is a classical RPG maker game. That is not bad, it is really well executed here. Colors match the vibes and the progress is good. It doesn't feel "RPG MAKER" if that makes any sense. I will advance more in the story to confirm my recomendation, but so far it is good.
Juego de estrategia por turnos mediocre, pero disfrutable.
11/10 would commit war crimes again
I was able to play the original version of this, so I have some perspective to share for this Remaster. The most obvious change is the character artwork. The artwork update looks great and they fit the overall theme of the game. I also prefer the slime's new look here. Now, some major changes I noticed while playing this remastered version. The battle difficulty has been increased a notch. Let's say the original difficulty was a 4, now it's about an 8. You don't fully recover during level-ups anymore, and resource management has become an important aspect of the game. Some all-target skills have also been reworked with cooldowns and preparation times. Are these changes good? Personally, I'd say it adds more depth to the gameplay this time, as opposed to the original being a mindless all-target spam race. Because of these changes, the stun effect on enemy weaknesses becomes relevant and not just an after-thought. Story is still the same. Quirky, funny, colorful & sometimes dark. I won't spoil anything, but you do get to unlock two different endings for a specific party member. Overall, it's an enjoyable RPG maker game that does a great job shying away from all the stigma against the engine. As one of the reviewers here said, it doesn't even feel like an "RPG maker game" at all. If you love the classic JRPG experience, then I recommend that you give this one a go. It's free, too. So why not?
Stellar Bewitching is a cute little game using the RPG Maker. It has a pretty good soundtrack and has a vibe that reminds me of younger years. Characters are written pretty interestingly, even though the slime is a pervy flirt and sometimes a little cringe it always means well. The quest to get a boyfriend for a day through dimensional travel is certainly creative. The game has some pretty funny moments and battles have more depth to them than I expected. There is a heavy reliance on skills as you try to find enemy weaknesses which makes battles have a little more depth than a standard JRPG sometimes. Overall, Stellar Bewitching is a cute little game at a price you can't argue with.
Pros: Cute and quirky characters Some funny moments and banter Great visuals, minus a few stylistic clashes Solid combat through most of the game, good skill variety Not a long time commitment, but feels like a complete story Light puzzle elements in a few spots Cons: Intro and late game drag a bit Some balancing quirks Not enough puzzles! Gear feels like an afterthought Overall this is a fun and unique game that I've never played anything quite like. It's very much a style that only this developer can pull off consistently, and they do it very well. I helped playtest some of the previous builds and can also attest to the fact that the dev is very open to feedback. Recommended, solid 8 / 10 now that some extra polishing and re-balancing has taken place.
