For an RPG-Maker game this is pretty good overall, especially for the price of under a buck when on sale. The setting is fairly unique in that it's sci-fi in space, rare for RPG-M games. Furthermore, the Galactic Foxian Empire you're a part of, is bloodthirsty and warlike, and the game treats this as normal. Kimi, who you play as, even gets in on it and is excited to invade natives on their own planet for her first mission. Once the war gets going if you talk to a certain npc they will tell you as part of the war effort they are looking to conquer more natives of different planets to put them to work farming and such. In other words turn them into slaves. The idea of stuff like this just isn't seen very often in games, let alone spoken of so casually. I do wish this kind of stuff was expanded upon. Pros: + A fun, interesting story with twists that will keep you hooked until the end. + Will take you about 5-6 hours to beat if you talk with everyone you can and interact with everything you can. Not bad for under a buck. + A lot of interactables, and they usually change as the story progresses. + You get choices, and sometimes those choices are simply inactions, that slightly change dialogue and things that happen. + An ending that no matter what you do is not "happy". Rare to see in any game. + Combat is challenging and forces you to take advantage of stuns, and to know the basics of turn based combat. There's even ship combat. + Free DLC that is short but fun. + can get paid to let a guy stroke your tail. Cons: - The story isn't as fleshed out as it should be. There are various plot happenings that you have to infer yourself why they happened. Other plot points aren't explained at all with nothing to help you with an answer. - A lot of grammatical and spelling errors, but this is the norm for RPG-M games. - Once you understand it, combat is rather simple. It stops becoming challenging once you get stun bomb. The only ailment you can inflict is stun or defense down (besides ship combat). Limited number combat abilities. Draw Fire is useless. Enemies also have limited abilities. To be fair the game is more about the story and characters. - Items are mostly useless as I almost never used them. The game is worth it, and I really hope we see a sequel.
Fun little JRPG in a futuristic setting with some entertaining features like the ship to ship combat, skills tied to your weapon, different solutions for some of the quests and more. In case you are worried when you see some anthropomorphic girls in a JRPG from a dev that sounds Asion, that this is another one of "those games", I can put your mind at ease: This is family friendly game made by a Canadian company. Highly recommended, even at full price.

RPG Maker strikes again! "Space Fox Kimi" is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. This RPG Maker asset flip eschews the usual high school anime club fantasy fan-fiction about the developers imaginary anime girlfriend for something even worse, a high school anime club dropout sci-fi fan-fiction about the developers imaginary furry girlfriend/fox thing. The writing is cringey enough to make you throw up in your mouth a bit, but what should we expect? Most of the RPG Maker garbage on Steam is just badly written anime fan-fictions about the developers many imaginary girlfriends. It's weird but true, and also creepy and cringey. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers. This game is fairly dated at 7 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $1 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 6 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Since free games don't contribute to your game collector badge and other profile stuff, is this a worthwhile addition to your Steam library? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. There's no financial cost up-front, but you'd still be spending your time and a little hard drive space on a product that's far from the best. There's thousands of better alternatives on Steam.
Great
its a fun rpg with a intersting story with good game play that is simple but hard at the same time
