However, I receieved no other compensation and I am bound by no obligation to write this review.
Gameplay
Most of the game is clicking through text boxes and reading. Depending on your choice of dialogue, your relationship(s) and ending will change drastically. There are three types of responses you can make, each tieing in with one (of three) personality types. They are badass, charm(ing), and smart. Each character dislikes one of three personality types, so plan your responses accordingly. You can talk, train and date characters, which expends energy. Energy is replenished between days, and via gifts. Speaking of days, each playthrough will end in sixty (in-game) days, assuming you haven't found a lover yet. There are two forms of currency in the game, Fame and Credits. Fame represents how well the protagonist is known by others, and can be used to upgrade his companions' stats. Credits are the primary in-game currency, exchanged for a variety of goods and services. The shoot-'em-parts of the game each consist of five stages (with the exception of bosses). Though you only have to beat the first stage leave a "Combat Zone", each completed stage grants bonus rewards. However, your health does not regenerate between battles, and if you die you lose everything. It is imperative to consider the risk versus reward when pursuing more stages than neccesary. Star Girls can be used as "co-pilots", enhancing your Fighters' stats and allowing you to further their relationships during combat. Additionally, the closer you are (to your co-pilot), the stronger they will buff your planes. You can also purchase new fighter planes, each with varying stats. When the game ends, following the credits is an epilogue which details the fate of each species and their respective worlds. The diffilcuty can be adjusted from the "Extra" menu, under "Settings" and "Gameplay".
Story
The protagonist has just completed his four year training at Star Command Academy. He's got one last test before he can become a full fledged starship captain. His trainer Commander states that he has the Captains' Spirit, an aspect all of the best captains share. It allows them to win otherwise unwinnable situtations. However, with the Captain's Spirit comes the Curse. It threatens to turn one into a loveless, materialistic shell of a man. Fortunately, there is a way to stop the Curse. A spirited captain must earn a Star Girl's love in sixty day's time, or else he'll become cursed. . . . and Commander says that Star Command will not allow a Cursed captain to lead a crew. This is the protagonist's final test. He and Commander set off to Echo one, a solitary satelite which orbits Colony 7. The protagonist is also joined by Vox, a robotic companion tasked with finding Star Girls (and managing his inventory and relationships.) It is here that the story is put into the player's hands, and the fate of each planet is left up to you.
Visuals
The tutle screen features and attractive character line up, though I wasn't fond of the animation. Under "Options", you can tweak a variety of settings. You can adjust the controls, difficulty, resolution, and sound. From "Rewards" you can enjoy a very fleshed out gallery. Achievements, CGs, and music can all be reviewed from the Rewards section. Additionally, you can enjoy select (previously encountered) story segments from the game. I did see at least five spelling errors. The transitions between days was slow and tedious. The "Combat Zone" screen would regularly show up when there was in fact nocombat zone. When viewing CGs, you can't hide the user interface (which I always think is total BS). The ships felt very stock, as if they were assets taken from somewhere else. The shoot-'em-up segments just felt artistically out of place. - The Goods - I stepped into this game expecting sexual content. What I got was innuedos and sexy anime girls. Unless I missed something, this title focuses less on goodies and more on the story.
Verdict
This game is rough on the edges, but I was honestly impressed by the number of mechanics and story tidbits. The game progressed slower than I would have liked, but even if you powered through you'd probably still rake in about nine hours of content. If you want a nice space themed dating simulater, give this title a try. - Words for the Devs - Hey! Thank you for giving me a copy of your game. I'm sorry I didn't get to it sooner, but I was honestly intimidated. I knew I was in for a big project, and well. . . I spent my day off for this game and review. I think there's room for improvement, and if you want to discuss game development and the like, I'm open for discussion. Oh! And reviews too. TLDR: It is good, but maybe wait for a few patches WARNING: The game has a fair few soft-locks bugs (The game doesn't register your mouse or keyboard, but runs in the background) that requires restarting the game, but you will only lose a 3-5 minutes of progress at worst. REVIEW: Star girls is a fun little game in the spirit of HuniePop, at least presentation wise. The fully voiced english dub is pretty damn sweet, and something we don't get enough of IMO. The backgrounds and CG are pretty good quality, if low resolution. However, where the game fails is in polish right now. There's quite a lot of typos in the UI, as well as it not being really intuitive in some places. Some functions are not well explained (Like choosing a co-pilot, or the entire guess-work of figuring out what every girl likes as a gift). The Badass-Smart-Charm system really doesn't do much, as there is a lot more importance in the actual content of the reply than the type of reply. The gift system I feel is not very useful. Every girls has one energy items they'll accept, and one gift item they'll like and give you points for. To get those items you need to go to several other planets or one specific planet every time to buy one, and you can only buy them once a day. The space/shooter part is generally composed of an Easy, Medium and Hard Combat Zone, with each of them having 5 different enemy line-up that will be randomly picked but you will do everytime you want to complete one. If you memorise these lineups and 'master' them, you can effectively earn endless cash every day, making the buying limit of items more of a limiting factor than money is. In fact, it is just smarter to do every Combat Zone's all stages to get gifts and never bother with the shops in game, meaning you can pretty much get rid of the entire game's economy in the first few days if you're patient enough. Especially if you focus stats like Firepower first to the point you can destroy most CZ in seconds. If this game gets a little more polish, and the bugs are patched out, I feel like it could be a fun little distraction. The voice acting, as I said, is pretty damn fun at times. The voice actors seems to be really having fun with the delivery of their lines even if they're complete nonsense contributes to it being really charming.
Star Girls is a good mix between a Bullet Hell Game and a Dating Sim. I just finished my first Playthrough in around 2.5 hours where I only concentrated on one Girl and tried to get plus points as fast as possible. Since there are 6 Girls in Total you will for sure get enough Playtime out of this for its Price, at least if you want to try all the Girls. From what I can tell, the Girls are very different in their Characters and also their Appearance, as there is a "Bee", "Cat", Cyborg and Human as some Examples. What I really liked is the Dating Sim Portion of the Game and the small little Backstory/Plot of the Game. I write Backstory as it really is only a little bit as this is really only focused on the Dating Part and there isnt any real Story otherwise. The English Voice Acting is something that i absolutely love and I didnt really come across any Mistakes when it comes to the Writing or anything as another Review said, so I guess they already fixed that. The Sprites are also beautiful and the Writing is at least decent. When it comes to the Bullet Hell Part I wasnt really in love, might be also because I normally dont really play those kind of games, however I also felt like there werent many different stage setups and you just played the same stages multiple times. I also didnt like that when you play with the mouse you can just go out of the Playscreen which mostlikely will result in you dying. I also played this Game on easy, but found the Boss Stage in particular to be pretty hard to beat. If you only want to play this for the Dating Sim be warned that you have to play the Bullet Hell Part to be able to complete the Game and that you should be at least fairly good at Mousecontrol as the levels are pretty hard. Otherwise you might get a little mad while playing ^^. I also miss a Manual Save Option and a few little extra Settings could be good. An Example Text Speed. I also didnt come across any Bugs, but that might be as I didnt really try every possible thing put yet. In the End, I would say that this Game is a good Dating Sim with a different and also interesting Idea incorporating the Bullet Hell and they also did a fairly decent Job at it. There are just some minor Things that could be better. Maybe buy it once it goes on Sale or just get it now if you like both Genres as the Price is pretty fair. Also there are a few Minigames that you have to play if you want to train or get some extra Points for the Girls, that are pretty hard on the higher difficulties and can be a bit of a challenge which is a good thing i guess. Also if you fail on a date or something just go back to the main menu, as the Game saves automatically at the end of the day only. This means you can just try again if you fail which will happen. Otherwise you might End with a Girl not being your EX :c Score: 8/10 Thank you for Giving me this Game to Review <3 Check out my Currator Page: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/34401214/ for more Reviews :)

<-- Review writen for 3 Point Play -->
What an amazing VN, it comes fully voiced, includes a bullet-hell minigame to earn profits and another bunch of minigames to grind your stats. The characters are really likeable and there's something for everyone: Do you like robots? Are you into bees? Did your mom used to make you a jelly dessert after dinner every night? Do you enjoy, perhaps, going into ice cream stores and asking for a full gallon of vanilla flavor? Then this game will surely have something for you. I really liked the archetypes they used for the girls, and how fast-paced the whole story is, much unlike other space dating sims (*cough* Sunrider: Academy *cough*) while being engaging and featuring an interesting story and mechanics through the game; I never felt I was actually "grinding" like in other dating sims where you'll do different tasks to boost your stats and with the only output being a small animation and a success/failure indicator coming alongside your received/lost stats over such a trivial thing. The visuals are really nice, the voices are on english, and before you all get really skeptical, the voice actors all do an amazing job, thus the characters are all really likeable and feel authentic, which is something I'd not usually say about a space dating sim. Their motivations are clear, their voices actually have a lot of feeling in them (most english voice-acting for anime-styled games are really dull) and the presentation is gorgeous. It does, however, have a few issues related to soft-blocks, but the game saves almost everytime, so you'll never lose any meaningful progress. It also promises full controller support, but I for one, wasn't able to use my gamepad to play. This is, however, a game in which you'll mostly use your mouse, as it will be the optimal way to control your ship while you're trying to play the bullet hell minigame (combat zones). My only request would be if they could add either the Space-Bar or the Enter key to skip/read the next texts, because even if clicking is not bad by any means, most VNs actually use these keys as the standard way to progress through their stories, as it is way more comfortable. The robo-girl weights like 600lb or 272kg, but this is mostly due to her sheer amount of cyber-augmentations, do not fatshame her. UPDATE: In order to get a generic gamepad to work with this game, you have to activate Steam's "Generic Gamepad Configuration". To enable this, go into Big Picture Mode, click on Settings, then mark up the "Generic Gamepad Configuration" option. After this is done, you can launch the game and use your "Start" button to tell the game that you'll be using a gamepad. I'd like to mention a few things about this update on my review: 1) While having gamepad support is really nice, the optimal way to play bullet-hell games is actually using a mouse. You'll get a better range of movement if you use your mouse and dodging will be way easier. Since we're using Generic Gamepad Configuration, you'll be able to use the D-Pad on your controller in order to play, unless your further configure it. So, you can go with the whole 360 degrees movement range of your mourse, or go with the 8-directions movement range of your gamepad. 2) Kudos to the Dev for adding PlayStation prompts instead of the more widely-used Xbox ones. I've been playing games with a gamepad for some time now, and even then, I just can't get the idea of using XYBA notations. This is a personal thing, and you may agree with me or not, but I prefeer the PS ones. EDIT: I've made a guide for this game, featuring assets the dev was really kind to provide.
