Using your own music or the built-in soundtrack, groove your way across a rich world, assemble the perfect mecha crew, and rise from humble beginnings to ultimate stardom.
NEW: .osz & .osu support
In addition to the automatic music analysis, you can now manually define full charts or import existing charts designed for osu!, osu!mania, osu!taiko, etc.
NEW: Arcade Mode
Skip the story and dive directly into Steel Century Groove's fast-paced, strategic rhythm battles. Complete objectives, purchase upgrades, chase high scores, then challenge the ultra-difficult upper ranks of Endless Mode.
Collect and Upgrade: Level up your mechs, equip them with mods, and pair them with different combinations of backup dancers.
Unique Gameplay Kits: Each mech has its own set of abilities, mechanics, and resources. A simple starter mech builds and spends energy, while later mechs have you maintaining an army of drones or swapping between cards in a mini deck-builder.
Flexible Rhythm Combat: Steel Century Groove doesn't demand a specific button press for each note. Instead, pick from your mech's kit of battle abilities.
No Playing the Metronome: Challenge yourself against interesting melodies, even when playing with your own music. You’ll never just be endlessly tapping out the beat.
No Accessories Required: Built from the start for gamepad or mouse & keyboard.
Streamer Mode On: Enable Streamer Mode and the game will play only exclusive, original music that won't trigger any copyright claims on YouTube, Twitch, etc.

Good game with good story Gameplay: [10/10] I really like it! Reminds me of one of the Japanese arcade rhythm games! Music Map Generation: [9/10] Great! Songs that have a notable beat to it, the game can detect its bpm and offset pretty easily. I think its the only game that has such a good beat detection. Though it has issues with some songs, its still better than anything else I have encountered! And the even supports osu-files! Story: [8/10] Not predictable and good! The story is not intentionally clear at the beginning and unpacks itself during the gameplay. There are some issues regarding the importance and standing of the main villain.
Alan doesn't feel like a main villain for me. Through the whole story, he is depicted as the inventor, like Elon Musk-y. But he feels so distant and just not present. Yes, you can fight against him because he is one of the Principal Pilot. But then he feels equal to the other Principal Pilots, losing his importance in the story. He doesn't actively prevent us to reach our goal. There are fights on the maps but they are more like side fights and don't contribute to the story at all. We fight meaningless fights to get to Alan and then thats it? He gives us our item, drops us off and flies away. Idk.
Overall: 9/10

didnt feel like to play into that... i love Mecha and mussic games, i got into some songs that i heard out of the game... but gameplay didnt hit + character desighn is not that importand but they look bad... Its not important, but u see them every time in storymode... sorry, but didnt hit enough to play again.
Only ~2h in so far but WHAT AN ABSOLUTE BLAST!! Incredibly fun and not what I necessarily expected. Think Pokemon but with robot dance battles instead. Also seems to have interesting story and lore. Will update once I play more but can already recommend from what I played so far, it's super fun! Update after finishing the game: I never review a game before finishing it, but with this one, I enjoyed it so much so early on, that i felt compelled to leave a review already. And what can I say? It absolutely held up! This game is an absolute gem. It's weird, it's wild, it's whacky. But it's also full of heart and you can not help but love it. If the premise of giant robot dance battles sounds absurd to you, that's because it is! And the game knows this, it embraces it, but it also makes it part of the lore and story, which I found really compelling. I started this game expecting a fun rhythm game. I didn't expect to get an actual interesting story with world lore and characters I actually cared for by the end of the game. Needless to say, I loved every second of it. I think the whole aspect of your robots having very unique skillsets that you need to make use of as part of the rhythm game puts a really unique and very satisfying spin on the genre. The music is great through and through, found myself just jamming and vibing out to the songs during the battles! Also, as someone who absolutely sucks at rhythm games, I am grateful that I was able to experience this one without issue (played on normal). I would've liked to 100% it, but the difficulty jump from story mode to post-game challenge mode was a bit too much for me. Still, an absolutely stellar game in my opinion. If you're on the fence, there is a free demo on Steam. It will give you a very good idea if you'll like it or not. Give it a shot, it's free! And if it's your jam, you would've regretted not trying it, I can assure you :) Gonna try the free sequel Steel Century Groove: Midnight next! Keep up the great work and thank you for making a really fun game!
This is the definition of a passion project. This game is hilarious, engaging, and the run time doesn't overstay its welcome. The difficulty levels are very approachable as well. This is also the ugliest game (endearing) I have ever played. I recommend that everyone play through the story mode - don't leap straight into the arcade mode! I played this game on the standard difficulty as someone who is average at rhythm games and plays them a lot, but does not commonly play keyboard and mouse games. I found the standard difficulty engaging, but not difficult. I only failed one boss battle. If you are an experienced rhythm gamer, I suggest playing at a harder base difficulty, and if you are an experienced rpg player who knows how to optimize builds, then I recommend choosing harder mechs. The customizability of the different facets of the game, make it approachable to everyone.
I love the dancing mechs. The base songs are already pretty nice. Looking forward to adding songs I like, once I figure it out
Overall I had an absolute blast with this game. I can really see the love that went into it. It might not be the most polished game (especially concerning some of the graphics) but the concept, story, music, and gameplay really worked well. Playing around with the different tenzerks and mods made for some fun challenges.
I liked it, I can play music I like. is very fun.
I cannot BELIEVE how simple yet difficult the game is, And at the same time, You'd expect procedurally generated charts using your own music to be awful, however, from testing, The only time where it doesn't work well, is if the BPM is not accurate. Regardless, I'd highly suggest you check the Fine tone before playing custom songs, as The Calibration isn't perfect.
