About
Thousands of years ago, humanity built colossal war machines to stop the apocalypse. Now they just use them for dance battles!
Using your own music or the built-in soundtrack, groove your way across a rich world, assemble the perfect mecha crew, and rise from humble beginnings to ultimate stardom.
NEW: .osz & .osu support
In addition to the automatic music analysis, you can now manually define full charts or import existing charts designed for osu!, osu!mania, osu!taiko, etc.
NEW: Arcade Mode
Skip the story and dive directly into Steel Century Groove's fast-paced, strategic rhythm battles. Complete objectives, purchase upgrades, chase high scores, then challenge the ultra-difficult upper ranks of Endless Mode.
Collect and Upgrade: Level up your mechs, equip them with mods, and pair them with different combinations of backup dancers.
Unique Gameplay Kits: Each mech has its own set of abilities, mechanics, and resources. A simple starter mech builds and spends energy, while later mechs have you maintaining an army of drones or swapping between cards in a mini deck-builder.
Flexible Rhythm Combat: Steel Century Groove doesn't demand a specific button press for each note. Instead, pick from your mech's kit of battle abilities.
No Playing the Metronome: Challenge yourself against interesting melodies, even when playing with your own music. You’ll never just be endlessly tapping out the beat.
No Accessories Required: Built from the start for gamepad or mouse & keyboard.
Streamer Mode On: Enable Streamer Mode and the game will play only exclusive, original music that won't trigger any copyright claims on YouTube, Twitch, etc.

Id say its pretty fun, only thing is if you save and come back later you kind of forget what your next objective is, id recommend they add a task menu or something
This game is peak. So good. It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ loveandcareslop if you will. Why they put make me play a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ roguelike deckbuilder while I play a rhythm game. Why can I replace the backing track to a very tense story beat with The Amazing Digital Circus Theme X Baby by Justin Beiber. I'd love to meet the game developer to dissect them and analyze them under a microscope. You should buy this. Game of the Year.
I have over hundreds of hours in games like God of War Ragnarok, Spider Man 2, Resident Evil and even Days Gone so my attention span isnt the issue. Its the fact that I will never understand why the developers of this game thought it would be cute to add custom songs but make you play a watered down story mode that felt like a knock off pokemon exploration game just to get to that point. I gave up after it told me to go build my robot, If i wanted a game like that i would search for a different genre. And also the pronouns really put a chalkline around this game for me. Refunded and blocked
Bought this for the rhythm game -- didn't expect to love the story and characters as well. Awesome game all around!
Do *YOU* dig GIANT ROBOTS? (don't answer that, we all know the answer is YES) Do *YOU* wanna serve on fools who ALSO HAVE GIANT ROBOTS? Do *YOU* know what a rythym game is? Do *YOU* want something that you can use your own music with, provided you have some on your PC? Do *YOU* want a quirkier game with that silly Indie spirit? If you answered "YES" to the other questions I asked; Lads, Lasses, and Lovers of GIANT ROBOTS, I have a game for you
Finally a fun rhythm game where i can use all my own music.
cool game, idk if i got an actuall ending or if your supposed to do something after the credits but the ending i got felt really unsatisfying. scg midnight (the free prequel to this game) had a better ending. in this game they litterally killed off half the characters in one of the final sections for NO REASON. the end just felt rushed. if anyone knows what to do after the credits finish and your dumped back into the neon city place please tell me
If you like DEI slop this is the game for you.
Video Review https://youtu.be/x5j6wr0f_dE
Insanely Fun And Silly But...
This is Pokémon as a rhythm game, with ridiculously well-orchestrated dance choreography mechs and a diverse soundtrack full of licensed bangers. While repetitive, in dance moves, it's got a lot of diversity and each replay of the same song has a different pattern!? That's neat. But I did have reservations, mostly because there is a lot going on at once. You have bottom-left, bottom-right, and center prompts, powers, counters, combo effects, very hard difficulty settings, tricky mech handling, and more to keep track of. It can ruin the vibe when you fail due to a lockout, especially while piloting the drone mech which is high difficulty. Heading into new towns has you fighting each First Pilot (gym leader) on your way to becoming the very best.
Conclusion
If rhythm games are your thing, this is an alright recommendation. If you like mecha, it is even better, with the basic modifications and suits. The fusion of choreography-driven combat and licensed tracks gives every match a sense of spectacle that most rhythm titles never reach. It can feel busy at times and the learning curve is not very present, but if it does click with you, it all becomes part of the charm. Unfortunately after just a few hours I couldn't stomache it anymore, too many random fights, all doing the same thing. It's cute in it's own little way, lot of passion behind the project, but I just had this pit in my stomache where joy and silliness used to reside and had to put it down.
This game got on my radar from some TikTok clips a while back and I finally got around to playing it. It lives up to that hype it got at the time. Just a shame it looks like it didn't do well commercially. The rhythm portion of the game is super fun. It can have some challenge if you want, but it's pretty straight forward for the average player. Being able to use custom music throughout the story is a great feature as well, even though the default music in the game is solid as well. The story is what really caught me off guard. I played the demo, and enjoyed what I saw of the story but it really takes off beyond what you can see there, and it isn't your standard hero/monster adventure story. Definitely recommend.
