Steam: Rails to Riches

I, unfortunately couldn't get thru the tutorial, every time I tried to move goods, it wouldn't let me and tutorial didn't even tell me why. Oh well, not for me. I would recommend regardless that I couldn't get it, just because I didn't get it doesn't mean you wont. Concept is still interesting.

It is more complex than Ticket to Ride but is a fun next step.

Decent enough. Single player only. However, AI is simply too easy to beat. Only recommend when it's a steep discount

I picked this up after playing age of steam and LOVING it. this was on sale so I grabbed it and it has been great. AI is fun to play against. Any board gamer looking for a solid implemented digital version of a game this is a good pick up. its on sale a lot

Cool to play coop on a hot seat. A bit lacks more maps in basic version, but for that price, its OK.

Steam....Age of Steam....Railroad Tycoon... what a pleasure !

A good preparation for playing Age of Steam...

It's a very good game and, if you like games that make you think, then will be enjoyable. My one criticism, and it is a major one for me, would be that the AI CANNOT be added to an online multiplayer game ??? Why not ? It has a good AI built in so why not allow it to be used for online multiplayer ?? If, like me, you prefer to simply play with friends that you know, rather than strangers, then you are limited to the maps that only cater for the number that you can put together, and if it's the case that there are only two of you that want to play the game then tough - you are restricted to the two duel maps and that's it !! So, on balance I would recommend the game but, this is something that REALLY should be addressed by the developers in a future update - it is a critical omission for longevity, and is already available in other games from this publisher.

This is a clumsy adaptation of the board game steam. It has two big problems: A) the interface is just poorly designed; ugly, un-intuitive, and needlessly fiddly. B) Steam (the board game or the adaptation) is just not as good a game as Age of Steam (a similar board game that Steam is meant to streamline). Taking out the auction takes out almost all the strategic depth, tightness, and tension. This is the closest thing you can get to Age of Steam against an AI, but it turns out it's just not a satisfying substitution.
