Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.71/day in the week to Aug 31 → 2.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
Rating: ★★★★ - Great Time Played: 8.3 hours Difficulty: Trooper (Normal) Gameplay: - The levels are large, open-ended sandboxes rather than corridor shooting galleries. Multiple objectives sit across the map with no forced order, which gives each mission a battlefield feel closer to an old-school Battlefield than a traditional boomer shooter. - The squad system puts AI troopers under your command and keeps friendly fire live. Grenades and orbital strikes will absolutely wipe you and your own squad if you're sloppy. - The five Bug missions flip perspective entirely, playing as the Assassin Bug with three switchable attack modes, giving the game variety. - There are a good variety of weapons and one-time abilities. Morita rifle for controlled engagement, flamethrower for swarms, tactical nukes and orbital strikes to wipe the field. The game consistently gives you tools that are worth using. Story\Dialogue: - The entire game is framed as a Federation-developed training simulation built to bolster military recruitment, 25 years after the First Bug War. It's a clever meta layer that adds to the satire of the original movie. - Casper Van Dien returns as Johnny Rico via FMV, and it works. He opens the game by thanking you for buying it, in character, as propaganda. - Satirical Federation advertisements and propaganda shorts play between missions, directly recreating the vibe of the 1997 film. These are a genuine highlight. - Major Samantha Dietz as the new protagonist is a bit thin. The story exists to justify the missions, and the FMV side-clips are better than the actual narrative. Graphics\Music: - The retro low-res aesthetic is a deliberate design choice. It fits the era the game is channelling and holds up better than most games chasing nostalgia. - FMV sequences are high quality, and the costume authenticity is a real highlight. - The visual contrast between cinematic FMV and chunky in-engine graphics is a little jarring early on. It settles once you accept it as part of the bit. - Music sits firmly in military sci-fi territory and complements the propaganda without being memorable on its own. Before you Play: - If you haven't seen the 1997 film recently, watch it first. The humour, the self-awareness, and the specific references all land harder with that context fresh. - Treat friendly fire as a real constraint. Grenades bounce. Orbital strikes don't care who's standing there. Plan your big support calls before you commit. - The Bug missions feel jarring initially because they're mechanically different. Approach them expecting a short puzzle-flavoured detour. - The game is short and repetitive by design. Don't rush it. Just play in short bursts.

Excellent retro FPS action from a developer experienced in the art! I'll break the more in-depth review into two parts: gameplay and authenticity Gameplay This is a retro FPS game. Based on the gameplay and graphics, I'd place it more in the N64 era where polygon-heavy enemies and scenery still coexisted with lots of sprites. Except obviously this game does not have any of the limits of the N64. The levels are absolutely enormous, there are mulitple objectives for each stage, and they change during gameplay. This simulates that this is a large-scale war, and running into fellow soldiers is normal. Difficulty-wise, this game can get very hard, very fast. That's fairly normal for retro FPS titles. This developer likes to add god mode and unlimited ammo cheats into the game's menu, which is useful if you're enjoying the game and suddenly get overwhelmed by bugs. The game does not penalize you for using these cheats. I like having them this easily available, because if we're emulating games we played in the past, we all knew the cheat codes to the games we played, and there ususally were no consequences to using them. If you wanted a challenge, that was up to you. The same can be said of this game. If you're reading this review, you're probably here for sci-fi bug-killing mayhem. The game totally delivers. Authenticity Extremely authentic to THE MOVIE (not the novel). Casper Van Dien, who played main character Rico in the movie, returns in many of the game's cutscenes. The game immediately breaks the fourth wall, and identifies you as a person playing a video game...a person in the starship troopers universe. The CSs immediately introduce the game as having been developed by the government as a recreation of one soldier's experiences in the war. Not long into the game (and believe me, this is not a spoiler), it's farily clear that the game was intended as propaganda, and as a way to glorify military service to attract young prospective soldiers, and to instill loyalty in children along with the dream to one day serve. The CSs are obvious propaganda and can become over-the-top, and at the same time, come off as effective and well designed (in universe) as well as heavily sarcastic in that we know the Terran Federation is not a kind government. Your character and others talk throughout the game, and while the violence in the game definitely qualifies as over-the-top, the actual gameplay portrays a more or less serious story. The game itself does not play like propaganda, though it does trivialize certain aspects of war in a way that will make you smile (a dying soldier saying "I didn't want to live forever anyway!"). This is hardly a game you'll dump hundreds of hours into, but it has exciting single-player bug smashing along with secrets that enable new options to mutate gameplay. Oh, and there are several side-missions that allow you to play as one of the bugs, fighting alongside the other bugs. If you're still reading this review, just go ahead and play the game already. You'll love it.
I did my part!
A good bug is a dead bug
Since its release in 1997 Starship Troopers has had numerous live action and animated sequels and a fair amount of video game tie-ins. Most fall short of the pure satirical yet poignant glory of that original film. Ultimate Bug War however finally gives fans not only a fantastic continuation of the first films lore (rightfully ignoring most of the sequels) but also a faithful, fun and fully rounded video game experience. While other games based on the franchise got some aspects right, Bug War gets it ALL right. The overly cheesy military propaganda, the patriotism, the guns, the violence and of course the bugs! its all here in spades. With a decently sized single player campaign that lets players take on the role of a new human character in the Federation working alongside the likes of Johnny Rico AND at long last allows us to play as and contol the Bugs (the first game in the franchise to do so). The gameplay is exactly what you'd want from this title. When playing as the human, stylish and satisfying gunplay featuring a huge variety of firearms, explosives and weapons. While the Bugs instead rely on their natural predatory adaptations. The game puts you in control of a new type of Arachnid. The assassin Bug, which has the speed and verocity of the Warriors, the flight of the Hoppers and the brute strength of the Tanker. Both POV's are extremely fun to play and deliver really well on recreating the adrenaline pumping action of the films battles. The game is intentionally retro and captures that 90's golden age shooter aesthetic wonderfully. Something the Devs have mastered between their work on Warhammer 40k Boltgun and now Bug War. Between spoken dialogue and secrets the player can uncover, there are plentiful easter eggs and references to the Starship Troopers lore, really demostrating that actual love and knowledge for the IP is something the Devs put into this. While I have enjoyed other ST games well enough. Bug War is the first I whole heartedly love. If you are searching for the quintessential Starship Troopers video game. This is it! Come on you apes! do your part! The only good Bug is a dead Bug.
Служба гарантирует гражданство!
20 minutes is all i could handle from the atrocious voice acting from the main character, as well as the constant patronizing of the one male character in the squad. This is just my opinion, but Extinction beats this feminist slop any day of the week.
Гражданство получено.
The game has it set where the warrior bugs can 2 tap you on the highest difficulty which is fine IF THERE WAS A MEANS TO PROPERLY DODGE, same goes with the tiger bugs having any form of damage being a 1 tap, IF YOU COULD DODGE as they will charge you with a charge that may or may not cancel itself out. The AI will ALWAYS target you over every NPC ally despite the NPC allies being literally between you and the bugs, IN ADDITION, i was almost done with the mission on the dam defense and i accidentally hit restart mission instead of checkpoint and it doesn't even bother asking a confirmation, they added a confirmation for leaving the game but not if you want to restart a mission. Add some means to fix these issues as currently I find a game of helldivers on D10 more balanced than this before the automatons got a nerf to their missles. BECAUSE YOU COULD DODGE
The first Ultimate Bug War immediately convinced me that the developers understood Starship Troopers. Huge bug swarms, chunky retro gore, ridiculous weapons, useful abilities and short objective sections made it feel like Helldivers filtered through an old-school single-player FPS. Checkpoints were generous, pausing was instant and individual objectives were short enough to make even a 20-minute session worthwhile.
