It's fine if you really want more FTL to play, but there's really no reason to choose this over that unless you've already gotten everything that you possibly can out of it.
It's a roguelike FTL clone, however I can't recommend this game at the moment despite very low price. On the one hand the game offers everything and more content than original "Faster Than Light" yet it lacks the unique vibe and nice midi tunes. Next, controls and UI are highly unintuitive or impractical (for example using weapons). The writing happens to be dull and silly (invasion of intelligent pigs with absurd choices which are technically the same) and English sometimes feels as it was poorly translated from another language. The game in theory isn't in early access but there's plenty space for development and patching up. Better play another round of FTL.

This is obviously a game for those who love FTL. It unfortunately just wasn't for me. The game doesn't have the FTL "power bar" management to control the systems of your ship. It has a turn one system off and the other will just recharge faster. It isn't clear how much faster or what effects are happening when you turn off the other systems. I was immediately turned off by this as I feel that is an important part of the game. I still gave the game a thumbs up if that is something you can look past. Everything else seemed very FTL-like with improvements. Since it's still in early access, I'll most likely give it another shot in the future.
It's so awful I don't have time to see how well it compares to FTL.
Although this early access version has a bunch of buggy issues, I still LOVE it and can't wait for an update. I'm gonna go play it some more now.
If you liked FTL , than Starship Inspector should be pleasing. I wish there was an option for selecting and action. Like a double click or something like that, maybe if you are on an interactable object it can highlight in a custom color. Sometimes when leaving the store and etc... my pointer will be on a door and it'll open with a crewman in the room. More often than not it's the airlock and my crew is dead. :( Otherwise I have enjoyed it so far.
Poor man's FTL with dumber crew members.
Pretty fun FTL like game, with extra features. Excited to see what they do with this game. Seems like they plan on updating it. Looking forward to unlocking all the ships
Game feels similar to FTL but the mechanics are different enough that it does not feel like a direct clone. Battles 1v2 and 1v3 are good! If you find cubes, then you can augment weapons and systems. Overall, not bad.
