About

An entire universe awaits you in Stars Reach. In this science-fantasy MMORPG, you'll visit strange, new worlds, become an explorer, and build a life on planets that react to everything you do. Your choices will change your world. And, you'll do it with every other player on a single server. Leave your mark on the galaxy!
Each world responds to your actions. A deep, reactive simulation allows water to flow naturally, forests to burn, and lava to harden into new materials and land masses. From lush forests to winding rivers to perilous mountains, every planet has its own ecosystems, resources, and challenges. Your decisions determine what resources are available to you, how wildlife reacts, and ultimately which settlements prosper.
Planets are living systems. Your decisions determine what resources are available to you. Climate changes, creatures migrate, disasters strike, and the world reacts in ways you can’t fully control.
Travel through wormholes to discover new worlds, explore, build, survive, and thrive. Every planet begins untouched. What it becomes is up to you.
Master one of dozens of skill paths, and live the galactic life you’ve always dreamed. Whether you want to protect settlers as a ranger, build a trade empire, or offer your services as an architect, Stars Reach offers many skill paths that allow you to chart a course through space that fits your play style. There are different weapons to master. There’s a career path just for you in Stars Reach.
You’re not locked into any single playstyle. Experiment with different skill paths and find the combination that suits you best. Build your own class from different skill sets and define your role in the galaxy.
Your first steps onto a new world take you far beyond the familiar. You’ll need to adapt to your surroundings by learning to survive. Every skill path has accompanying equipment, which you’ll gain proficiency with by using those tools.
More importantly, your contributions to the community will increase your proficiency. A camp you build will earn you experience when others rest at it. Community means survival, and we’ve built Stars Reach to support pro-social behavior and limit the ability for other players to ruin your experience through griefing.
You can build a cozy cottage on a remote hill, and carve out a living by yourself. But if you crave community, team up to build settlements and cities, shape how they grow, and decide how they are governed.
Team up and claim a large plot of land that isn’t just a home base. You and your friends can cluster your homesteads, build a community, and govern together.
The resources you gather can be sold in a unified galactic economy driven by players. Or, you can use them to craft tools and technology to supply distant worlds with vital goods necessary for their survival.
Trade with players across the galaxy, specialize in what you make, and become a master of your craft and earn renown across the galaxy.
Your choices determine what comes next.
Cities grow or decline, ecosystems shift, wildlife becomes extinct, and resources are used up or recover based on what you do. Protect the environment and its inhabitants, or strip mine it for profit. Other players live with the results of what you leave behind.
This is Stars Reach! What will you become?

I really think people with .05 time in a game should not be able to write reviews about those games. I ignored those reviews, bought the game and so far I'm having a blast! Its hard enough to be challenging but also easy enough to keep me engaged . I have a bit over 2 hours into the game and still doing the noob quests....but so far ive had no lag no stuttering no server issues none of that BS I read from the guys with 10 mins in the game Trolling in reviews.... So far ive had nothing but an enjoyable adventure on an alien planet with cool vibes and exciting encounters!! 4.5/5
I wouldn't jump to review a game so quickly but it seems to be the done thing atm so I'll chime in. I'm a kickstarter backer that's waited until now to take test participation seriously. When it opened to testing last year it was a different beast. Updates were frequent and the game has grown much in this time. That time is not included in the duration shown here. We were told it was coming to Steam this year and it actually happened. I wasn't expecting it so soon but here we are. Temper your expectations. This is early access. Early access games can and often be alpha level and that's the case here. They've opened it up now so they can get the numbers up for testing and obviously to further funding. I'm actually happy with that and claims that this is broken to hell, a scam, generic or any other of the dramatic claims need to be considered before you purchase this. If you're expecting a polished game with complete systems, smooth performance etc then this probably isn't your time to jump in. Wait and pick it up in a sale or when development has reached more maturity. I'm very surprised they didn't run a promotion initially. Even just tenner discount during the first few weeks would have helped placate negative buyers but they opted for a serious price tag from the get go. Not sure what they were thinking there tbh. If you're EA tolerant and understand this game needs work, you're in a much better position to appreciate it and it's potential. Its got the elements and depth of a No Mans Sky / Minecraft survival game with the MMO elements that made games like Star Wars Galaxies and Ultima Online stand out. A lot of the skills aren't impleemented yet but you can see the skill boxes and professions that will be unlocked. They're impressive., There's detail here with physica etc that really feels unique. It's just a really interesting blend of genres and even if there's still a way to go, it's going to be a fun ride seeing the updates drop and things get more and more fleshed out. TLDR. Game has bugs and missing features but the potential IMO is worth it. If money or alpha testing doesn't sit well with you please stay on the sidelines until you're happy with the progress. The negative reviews are disapointing but I think people forget what early access actually is. This is coming from somebody who's been burnt before (I was around when games like StarForge were taking backers for a ride). This isn't one of those.

Absolutely loving my time in Stars Reach. When you start exploring the social sandbox, it just clicks. This is something that truly hasn't been tried before anywhere else. Highly simulated worlds in a true sandbox MMORPG setting, something for everyone here. I'm writing this one Day 1 of the Alpha (AKA Steam Early Access), and it's rough around the edges, but I can wholeheartedly recommend this game even at this stage. Addressing the controversy: Just don't expect a finished game, they're not joking when they say they're EARLY and gathering feedback to improve the game. This isn't a pretend EA launch, you're actually here early, your voice matters and we can shape the game itself. If Minecraft could do one of the first ever Early Access sales before even reaching Beta, so can Stars Reach. It's cooking, it's already fun.
If you're not expecting an AAA game from an indie developer and like gathering/crafting you'll Love this game... Has potential to be the next SWG.
Not ready for beta, and as it stands, game instructions are jank. "Worlds" are just small maps given to you as chunks. I've tried to make it fun, but it's just not. Most boring combat I've seen. Most boring resource extraction I've seen. Nothing about this game is innovative or anywhere near what's hyped about it. Worst game purchase I've made in years.
40 million for this? Did they buy gold toilet paper for the office? Seriously. I could have made this myself, alone for 40 million. Hire me. In all seriousness this is a "we failed, we're trying to recoup some of our losses by launching on steam before shutting down." This is basically Ashes of Creation 2.0 If you do buy into this game, just know that this is very likely the reality of the game and you're basically buying it and hoping it survives long enough to be something good. Definitely do your research, I thought it would at least be playable but it very much was not. The lag was unbearable
This game should not even remotely be considered early access at this point.. Its barely even passable as alpha quality and is borderline unplayable. I can not recommend this game at this time, in a few more years it may be ready for an early access period. What are you doing Steam?
It's still Alpha so patience is required for the next 6 months or so. The depth of this game is STAGGERING; as a small example, journalist is a profession. A must get, must play item for anyone who likes the idea of a sandbox, player-driven MMO, reminiscent of Star Wars Galaxies.
So I played in the playtests before and it seems like the same issue I had before is still there. THIS GAME IS SO CONFUSING! Simple things like obtaining recipes, skills, XP in certain skills are way too complicated! Example: it seems you cannot even cook a basic skewer which I have the recipe for. Apparently I need a skill to cook that. you cannot get said skill without getting XP and points in cooking which you cannot achieve without cooking anything!!! Also, this game is really not even ready for EA. It plays like an Alpha test. I cannot recommend this game at all till they make it a lot less convoluted and confusing to do basic tasks in game. I have never been more frustrated in a survival game before!
A rare case of refunding a game TWICE 1st attempt: played about an hour and the game was a laggy, rubberbanding mess. Wouldn't even acknowledge when quests had been completed. Literally impossible to progress. Refunded. Then I saw reviews had gone from "mostly negative" to "mixed" and thought I would repurchase and give it another try, given I had some more of my 2 hours of grace time left. 2nd attempt: I could not even get logged into the game. Spent multiple attempts just staring at a loading screen which refused to progress, watching my remaining minutes of my 2 hour refund window slip away. Refunded. I gave this game the best shot I could, but it just simply is not in a state to charge money for it at present. I hope it will be one day, but that day is not today.
